  • Welcome to the first episode of Watch and Listen! In this first episode, we get a few things out of the way: What is this show going to be about? Who are Matt Farah and Cameron Weiss, and why should we watch or listen to them talk about watches every week? The two hosts take us through what got them into watches, and in Cameron's case, watchmaking, and tell that story using their personal collections of watches.

    You should do an episode that's basically watches for beginners. So tell people what things are and how things work. I'm sure there's lots of people like me that like watches and are interested in them but don't know much about the craft

    Been a member of Watchuseek for years, and have learned a lot about the innovation and artistry of watches... originally I signed up just to learn about my grandparent's and great grandparent's watches that I had restored, for my mother and I... but stayed to look for watches I loved as a kid - it's a great community and I highly recommend any watch enthusiast to check that out.

    Really enjoyed this podcast. My father specializes in restoration of antique clocks and watches, which has definitely influenced my fascination for watches.
    Not to tell you what to do, but consider dropping Watchfinder &Co a line on what setup they use to film their watches in their videos. They have the most stunning camera shots of watches I have seen on the internet to really show off the intricate detail that you get in these high end pieces. Not sure if the method they use is attainable in a podcast though, a lot of setup might be required.

    Found this from a jre episode. I am looking for a watch right now for my job. And I got to thinking about Matt talking about his watch podcast and thought I would check it out. It's pretty cool... I'm not a watch freak. But it's interesting. I like the looks and mechanical-ness of watches. Also I'm blown away by the crazy movements and designs..

    • @jimgarrison7386

  • @JEDIwards
    @JEDIwards 6 лет назад +4

    Awesome. I'm not sure if the watch cam is out of focus or if it just isn't lit as well as it should be, but it looks a bit blurry. Especially if we get to check out some of the small parts inside watches, it would be awesome for this view to be super crisp and defined. Stoked so far. My wife is going to hate this.

    Matt presented his own RL worldtimer in the video. That is quite a large watch with about 45mm diameter. Do you know the lug-to-lug measurement of the RL worldtimer? I'm interested in it but it might bee too long for me:(

    I was planning on asking for your opinions on sub brands of well regarded brands. My aunt and uncle gave me a Lorus for a high school graduation present 13 years ago, and upon looking for a new watch to get back in the habit for daily use(that old one is a little blingy for daily use). Looked up Lorus, and turns out they're a sub brand of Seiko. Then the first watch that gets pulled out on this episode is a Lorus.

    Cameron where can I get a box like that. I actually use something similar for security reasons. What was its original purpose? I like the fact that the watches are sandwiched sideways.

    Let’s be real guys, if asian manufacturers didn’t exist Weiss brand wouldn’t have existed either. All parts coming from China, movement from Japan, assembled in a Studio and claiming it’s American Made?!?? Let me put in another way, if it’s American as claimed why does it have to be a 100% cloning of IWC where in China are expert in doing so, with the only difference in Arabic Numbers fonts on the dial. Have it compared with an 80$ watch called Parnis that you can find on Alibaba and tell me if this whole false claim deserves this huge difference of price!
