Why Nimona Disappointed Me - Nimona Review

After a near-cancellation from Disney, Blue-Sky's final film Nimona has been released on Netflix. However, despite the anticipation, the film might be a complete trainwreck of an animated movie. Here's a review of Nimona (This video may contain minor spoilers).

There were a a couple things the movie wasn’t very clear about and really confused me. Like I thought Gloreth became queen, and was wondering why Ambrosius wasn’t ruling the kingdom. And the wall around the kingdom wasn’t mentioned but suddenly super important

Completely agree on many of your points. This movie frustrated me so much that I couldn't even finish it. It felt like one long "misunderstanding that could be cleared up if anyone actually talked to each other" trope. None of the characters felt like real people, switching stances on a dime based on basically nothing. The world-building is non-existant. They have flying cars, but no one ever saw over the wall to see there was nothing there? How do they know what whales are if they've lived there for 1000 years? They have so much technology, but apparently forensics just isn't a thing at all. In short, I couldn't stand it.

Nice Review. I personally really liked the movie, but you made some really valid points in this video. Personally i think that Nimona being so openly violent, even though she wants to be respected, is meant to be a sort of self furfilling prophecy as the ending also shows. I do agree with your points about the Animation and the Pacing, but as you said, it probably came from the time constrains given. Very good Review though and im sorry you didnt find the same enjoyment in it as a lot of other people. :3

Yeah it's definitely not a perfect movie and I do understand some of your reasons for why you don't like it, despite me thinking it's just a fun time. Different opinions are good :).

You’re not alone man, I could not get into this movie AT ALL. And I was going into it with positive expectations! Alas…poor writing, poor world building, poor animation and preachy politically correct propaganda completely ruined anything else that might have made it otherwise enjoyable for me. Contrarily, when I watched Adam Sandler’s Leo I went in with negative expectations and ended up loving it-such a smart, funny and heartfelt masterpiece. I immediately forgave him for making 8 Crazy Nights.

Yeah, if you like characters that want to be respected, but embrace villainy, don't listen to innocent people, and don't care for the well-being of others.
