Loved the episode. RIP my homies Jecki and Yord.
Qimir was straight up batman in this episode with how he would just vanish mid fight.
I mean… it is the only possible answer to being asked “what are you?” 🥁😁
This episode blew me away with the choreography, even within the limited sets. But what really got me was the character work during the fights. Great piece of Star Wars!
Dude, I was blown away but how Jacked Manny was in this episode. You could start calling that dude "Darth Guns" cause DAYMN! My man's arms were on POINT.
Dude should give workout tips. Want arms like that
true
That's why a had a milisecond of doubt that it was him
He seemed a touch nerdy
we all knew Qimir was gona be the sith
26:40 Qui-Gon Jinn will be happy someone else died with a lightsaber wound. He's always complaining about how bacta tanks were invented right after his death.
Alex Maxwell’s first ‘hello’ was very Qimir. 😂
great listening to all 4 of you, please do this more often folks!
Just wanna say that 'biceptual' is probably my new favorite word
Jecki was the MVP of the episode.
Gone too soon! RIP
Thanks to Alex D., Mollie, Mac and Alex M.! 🌑
22:06 you seem to forget that Qimir said "you don't remember me" to Sol when he still has the mask on and no one knows that he is Qimir. So the feeling that there's more to their background is strong and justified
I know it’s a heavily used trope, but I can’t shake the feeling it’s going to be like that classic M Bison line. The day the Jedi came into town and something terrible happened was world changing for a young Qimir, but for Sol it was a Tuesday.
I'm here by way of Children of the Watch, long time listener... absolutely love you guys and your guys' positivity. Thank you for always keeping the Watch and providing us with premo 'tent
Plot twist. Sol is the twins and Qimir’s father. His darkness is that he is an intergalactic baby daddy.
How did Yoda know that always two there are? Is it just Ki-Adi who is in denial and every other Jedi knows that the sith are still out there
Plot twist what if Qimir himself is an acolyte. He didn't seem to have a sith name. Maybe he thinks he is an apprentice but is himself an acolyte.
Interesting. I’m thinking Qimir was a former Sith who broke away from his Sith Master and would one day set himself up as the first and most powerful Knight of Ren.
Alex Maxwell is awesome, I love his takes 👍💯
PS : Loved the episode, love the series ! 💖
Only Reva could hope to survive the type of attack Jecki suffered 😢
I hope Jecki was feeling honored to transform into the Force.
21:38 remember the weird look the witches, who did the hair, gave osha and Mae, when they talked about being the only kids around.. Well guess there was a kid before then, but turned out to be a boy
The Yord Horde is gonna be mad!!
The yord horde 😂😂😂
you guys are the best, thank you for a fun and light conversation about sw, there aren't many of those
Casual fan here. May I just say the obvious. Alex hit the jackpot with Mollie. The envy of the community. Mollie is one of the most beautiful SW fans. Both so eloquent and intelligent to boot. Giving both my blessing from afar.
I was just watching the cast interview on The Collider featuring Dafne Keen (Jecki), Charlie Barnett (Yord), and Manny Jacinto (Qimir). It was uploaded three weeks ago so the actors couldn't spoil any plot. Dafne said she and Charlie tried to the "challenging" choreography justice by trying to make the saber fighting look cool.... to which Manny replied, you do make it look cool. Dafne shyly brushed it off, knowing full well the compliment was humbly bestowed by one of the coolest saber wielders yet unleashed to the public eye. It was adorable how Dafne demurely told the story how short she is, resulting in her lightsaber hitting the ground a lot. So the team modded the saber, tailored for short person version. LOL Of course she didn't reveal that she swung two sabers like a badass. Charlie was just being Yord, but on the opposite spectrum in terms of silliness. Manny had his arms crossed like a Sith most of the time (body language of secrecy in keeping the "big" reveal close to the chest).
My favorite part of the interview was Dafne telling her take of her character Jecki. She imagined Jecki coming from poverty. Being taken by the Jedi at a young age, for all its criticism, was "salvation" for Jecki. For a tenth of second you can almost sense Ms Keen refrained from being emotional. Watching the interview now just hits different knowing what goes on in their minds.
RIP Jecki.
I love Mac and Alex! Thanks for having them on!
agh wish I was able to watch this live but I'm so excited to hear all of your thoughts! Holy shiz what an episode of star wars.
I'm really think Qimir isn't an "official" Sith, because he said he wasn't anything but you would call me a Sith. Meaning what the Jedi would label him as, so he's not really following the Sith cult.
He's looking for an acolyte, which is a sith term in star wars.
I'm intrigued as who can be Qimir's master. As Master Yoda once said, "Always two there are. No more, no less. A master and an apprentice."
That's if he is a Sith.
@@adamsmith2564well he did say he wanted a pupil and not a apprentice other wise he would have said apprentice. I feel like Qimir is a sith apprentice and he has a master. He would need someone stronger to take on his master. At least that's what I think
They have been teasing the Kylo theme every week when the Acolite logo appears on screen (right after all the red and blue Disney+ helmets). 1:04:48
I like this! We’ll see if I last over 2 hours, but I’ve Been a fan of SW Explained for a couple years but just discovered Children last week…good to see friends meet and join forces.
Speaking of “Chekhov’s Gun,” there is a lingering shot of Kelnacca’s broken saber…
Perhaps the Jedi will be misled to believe Kelnacca was corrupted by the witches (another shot showed the markings in his ship) and turned on his fellow Jedi before succumbing to a saber wound in his ship.
Perhaps they will incorrectly conclude Kelnacca was Mae’s teacher if Sol doesn’t report Qimir…
The comment about Sol and the Light reminded me of one thing. In swedish Earth is called Jorden and earth as in the element of earth is called jord. The thing is that in swedish j is pronounced as the english y. (Jord is also pronounced with an o like in "lose" but still.)
So it's almost as if "Sol and Yord" are "Sun and Earth" :D
Thanks for the great show!
dude, Children of the Watch! I listen to these guys all the time for Star Wars. even more than this channel.
Imagine if Darth Teeth was the apprentice, and it turned out Qimir was the master, hanging out with the acolyte to learn what his apprentice was getting up to.
The Nights Of Ren theme is also heard at the beginning of ep 5 when she starts crawling to pick up Pip.
The only things I'd change would be Jecki surviving and Qimir shouting "Bortles!" as he attacks.
Turned Jecki into a bowling ball 😭
Darth Why-So-Serious! Let's make it happen!
We must have a season 2 of The Acolyte
Haha!!! 😂 "The Apprentice"
1:37:36
Really did want to point that out because in retrospect Alex's picture was always gonna be correct no matter what.
It also was sad during the livestream there were a buncha haters just randomly coming into ruin the good vibes. Thankfully the mods were on them quickly.
Why don’t you do the drawings anymore?
Yoda is to The Acolyte what Luke was to The Mandalorian.
Also Qimir vs. Kylo would be a zero effort victory for Qimir. I almost feel like it’s a narrative problem how OP they made him-at this point it feels like he’d best Palpatine himself easily.
Malex ; always be proud of being actually nice decent people who actually enjoys the work and the entertainment you comment on. I'm SO bloody fed up with youtubers selling themselves out for $$ uploading hate bate videos. RUclips used to be fun. Next time star wars celebration is in London,
Is it just me or are the O’s in the logo getting further apart w/ each ep ?🤷♂️ I can’t tell if it’s just the movement vs the static logo that’s making me think so. It really might be just me… 🧐🤷♂️
I don't want Osha to go to dark side!
Her morals are so admirable!!!!
WHYD THE JEDI DO SOMETHIN BAD ON BRENDOK
I enjoyed the episode.
I dont think Palpatines return was planned when they filmed the last jedi,so it could have been arbitrary the music choice.
This episode of Acolyte is very Game Of Thrones with killing off characters.
Osha absolutely has a stab wound at the end when Qimir kneels down next to her. How did it happen? Had to have been done by Mae.
Nope, he healed her wound
Lol Venestra being the baddy would be an awesome twist though.
1:03:20 Qimir definitely healed Osha's cut at the end of the episode.
I’m curious how she got the cut in the first place &/or why our attention has been brought to it. Right now w/ the info we have at the end of the ep, the only reason I can think of is to show Qimir healing her even though that not what I actually thought was going on as it didn’t seem clear to me that he actually did any healing, just the gesture & the presence of a wound.
@@dkarras she probably got the cut when Qimir slammed her into that tree?
Was Qimir the person at the ascension ceremony with the hood on that you never saw? Did the Jedi turn him to the dark side with whatever they did that day?
Odd thing that's been nagging at me since the start of the show, not really a thing I've seen discussed much generally amongst Star Wars fans either, might be the Star Trek nerd in me that picked up on it but the interiors of the Jedi ship...is that the Millenium Falcon sets but redressed?
The ships corridor looks the same as the Falcon's but with different cladding on the walls and the I dunno what to call it really but the communal area looks very similar to where Obi Wan trained Luke with the remote...so yeah I'm sure those sets if they arent the actual Falcon sets redressed at least seem heavily based on it
Can we “from a certain point of view” this Stranger/Sith idea.
What he actually says in the episode “I have no name, but the Jedi, like you might call me Sith”
He’s saying I am my own thing, but if it were up to the Jedi I’d be called a Sith. We already know that he likes to point out the Jedi’s rules, and this is just another example of that. Calling him a Sith is doing a disservice to his character.
29:54 To be more specific. Jecki was the one who said, "WHAT is that?" when masked Qimir glided down behind Mae. So its only poetic that Darth Quip hit back with "Is THAT her name?" Beyond humor, and to tongue in cheek poke fun of the fine line modern dialogues tread with gender pronouns... I think the writers may be critiquing how we as a society is quick to label those we don't understand with biased stereotypical assumptions, without acknowledging the possible hurt inflicted on to others unless you yourself walk in their shoes.
Agreed!!
👍
Are we watching the same show? How does everyone here like it? 😭 Guess I've just outgrown Star Wars...
They need to do some old republic shows following the sith empire or have Darth malgus be the main
What happened to Mae wanting to turn herself in? Why put up such a fight against Jeki
What if by the end of the season Sol ends up leaving the order and becomes a Gray Jedi/force user? After his actions in Brendok I wonder if he finally questions the moral of the Jedi that starts their downfall
Justice for jecki and yord😢
Darth “the rock” Pleagus
Alex Maxwell sounds a lot like Manny.
Qimir... Darth Chimera. multiple heads.
I partly hope Qimir is a trans dude from the coven but I doubt Disney would ok that. Maybe one of the dead witches kept themselves alive by transferring consciousness to Qimir’s body.
I honestly had this thought but agree Disney wouldn't go there unfortunately
Acolyte turning people queer confirmed 😂
@kandy1515 sarcasm bro lol
@@kandy1515 it very much is. Please dont assume you know my intent more than I.
One of the most mocked criticisms of the show in my neck of RUclips (SW toy collectors who are all pretty even keeled) is the insane idea that it is somehow trying to turn people queer by the inclusion of the not-even-explicitly-queer witches. This notion has been endlessly mocked by the creators I follow recently. I will gladly supply you links to videos.
When Alex jokingly said the unnamed Sith made him bi because of how jacked he was, I made a joke, connecting the "criticism" with Alex's comment. That's all.
Did you watch the stream?
Ok this episode went hard af...
Mannys arms 💪🏻
