Mona Lisa! I remember her! She dropped an album called 11-20-79 back in 1996 and her 1st song was called "Can't be Wasting My Time." The last time i saw her was on an episode of BET Unreal. She sang "Eye on the Sparrow." After that, she was no more. But the sista could sing! I kept wondering why she never blew up. Then, i figured it was probably due to these record label politics that everyone expects you to follow. She should've gotten more than what she did, not just one hit! Where is she now?
It makes me so sad she only did one album why? Where is she now? She was such an amazing singer. I hope she does an album one day I have played her first album so much X
This was back in 1995 Aaliyah didn’t start rocking this look until 1996 Mona only was out in 1995. It was the other way around they got rid of her and brought Aaliyah out that’s why Aaliyah music sounds similar to her after 1995 now that Mona Lisa was gone they had a body of work to interpret
I do see similarities but I doubt that’s the case as that was the style at the time. Shame she didn’t have the same career as Aaliyah or Brandy and Monica who came up during this time and how can I forget about Mya. Beautiful and can sing but the industry can be a cruel place. RIP Aaliyah.
