About this video

Over the years I've met many photographers who have incorrectly attached their camera strap, so in this short video I show you the correct way to do it.

I recently switched to Peak Design straps. Love them! Being able to easily remove the strap from the tabs on the camera adds so much versatility.
Same!
Really useful. I've just bought a EOS 2000D. I couldn't get the bloody strap on properly until I watched this. Nice work :)
That's great, it's so important to get this right 😀
Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for the clear, concise instructions! Just got my first DSLR, so wanted to do it properly!
Thank you, Paul, for covering this topic. I was familiar with the first technique as it is also shown in practically all camera reference guides, but it was actually the second technique, that one with the reverse inside loop, that I was looking for!
2:35 your 2nd method is the safest way, and is the way shown pictorially in the Nikon camera manuals. I used PD and BY, both are really good. Simply personal choice. Sometime too much choice!
Thanks again for a useful video.
I've been using Peak Design straps for quiet a while. They're on all our cameras. Love the way the strap can be re-configured quickly and for carry.
Your second option is the one I prefer. I have the strap that came with the camera on some of my bodies, but also use the Peak Design on all my high end systems.
Well done Paul-A very important video for everyone-Thanks for covering this!
Thank you very much. I learned how to correctly attach my strap from your fine video. You are a good teacher!
Glad it was helpful Brian, very much appreciated the feedback.
It is one of the important but never noticed setup while using camera.
Great one sir...
This will save costly equipment.
Thanks for making this video.
Thank you so much. I got a new Canon camera recently and have no idea what I'm doing so I appreciate you helping us.

Great advice Paul thank you
Wow Paul, was looking at straps just before turning on RUclips to see what other photographers recommended and there you are .. lol that Inter web is listening . thanks for the info I will be purchasing today from Peak performance.
Hi Paul, thank god you were there to save your Student from possibly dropping there camera. Those Camera straps look really cool, i like the Lucky straps one, the leather looks really well made and modern. I also like the peak design, i remember when i bought my first DSLR camera i had to get the Salesman to put it on. Always nice to see variety on your channel, thank you. 👍
Oh wow I just saw this!! Thanks so much for including us in your video, keep up the amazing work!
You are very welcome
Thank you for refreshing my memory! 😂
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always 📸👍🤗
Great advice😊
Excellent video, thank you. My cannon camera strap got dirty, and I needed to remove it immediately. I used your video to reattach it a few days after the strap was clean and dry.
Good tutorial again Paul.
Thanks for the great video!!
Thany you very much, always the best advice on your great channel.

Thank you!
Thank you very much, very usefull !
Really struggled to do this until I watched your video, thanks !
Good tip!
Thank you 🙏🏽
NICE! Thank you
Welcome 😀
I’ve used the Peak Design Camera and Wrist straps for quite a while now and they are excellent. Not had any issues with them, but you do need to periodically check the anchor cords to make sure the outer cord hasn’t frayed over time - if the inner cord is visible then it needs to be replaced otherwise great.
I have a few questions about the Peak Design Cuff.
1. Is it comfortable for long-term use?
2. Do the Anchor Links make a lot of noise when they move around?
@@AuralsAudios Hi, the cuff is very comfortable and should the camera fall from your hand the wristband closes tight and stops the camera falling any further. I wear the cuff on my wrist even when the camera is in my bag as it’s easy then just to attach it to wrist quickly rather than hunt around in bag for the strap and then attach it.
The anchor links make no sound at all as they are made of cord and plastic.
Thanks Paul, I'll check all of my cameras as some of them were purchased second hand and the straps may not have been fitted correct (or even the one's I fitted some years ago).
Thank youuu
Magnificent. 👌
Peak design is an awesome solution 👌
Thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!, thanks for the feedback.
Thank you sir...
Thank you 👍🏻 I have the exact system on my Canon 70D👍🏻
It drives me crazy when I see all the U Tube influencers walking around with ten thousand dollars worth of camera and no camera strap talking about dropping there camera I started photography in 1960 and the first thing my father taught me was to use a camera strap and 83 cameras later not one has been dropped love the Peak Design straps
As simple thing but oh so very important, thank you.
I've always used a strap. First for the safety, second because it's an accessory that comes in the box. If my camera isn't on a tripod it's around my neck. Wrist straps can be handy, but tends to tie down the hand they're hanging on. I see people without them all the time. I use a sling bag, and am usually scrambling in forest, so the first thing out of my bag is the strap then the camera. Also the sling bag can actually be used to steady the elbows. Haven't dropped one yet 👍.
Nice
very informative..
I'm not a great fan of shoulder straps as I don't like anything hanging in front of me hence ( or around my neck)
Hence I prefer to carry my camera by its handgrip.
And a precaution I fit a waist strap.
I don't depend on the waist strap to support the camera, its just there as a precaution in case I should loosen my grip 😔..
thanks for the guide, the instructions on canon website aren't the best! I personally find the first method a lot easier and allows for adjusting the length of the strap on the go more easily than the second method
On a Photo Walk with a group and someone walking with their camera still attached to the tripod turn for a conversation at a building's corner and watch it fall into 3 pieces. I use a wrist trap when using a tripod and a shoulder strap while walking.
This literally almost happened to me two days ago. I recently adjust my strep to allow for some more neck length and a few days later I was taking some shots and the camera was hanging down one side of my neck. It was so close.
I've been using peak design straps for around 6 months now and can't go back to a normal strap. They are that good.
The second method is the best as depending on strap material the first way can sometimes resulting the tail of the strap slipping through…it’s happened to me!
I've put the kneck strap and wrist strap. For those high reaching moments.
I'm Strappy McStrap
I HAVE USED HAND CAMERA STRAPS FOR YEARS NOW AND STILL GOT OLDER ONES WHICH WERE MORE ROBUST,BETTER MADE,TODAYS HAND STRAPS SEEM FLIMSY,ANY STRAPS ON THE MARKET WHICH ARE MORE ROBUST DO YOU KNOW OF?,PLEASE
i am actually looking for a strap with a native american design on it to show my ancestry
Ultimate disaster💀💀💀
Thank you!
You are most welcome, thanks for the feedback.
