Steve I get the feeling you are still trying to explain why Cleetus is running a pro line hemi now. You don’t have to. You make the the best drag and drive engine ever produced
sometimes its hard to say something without mentioning something.. Cleets Proline is a whole different ball game and steve and Cleet have always done drag-n-drive but now Cleets cant do it with his new car so will the haters say "why is he not did they have a fall out?" no the difference is Cleets gone to a different class and that class there is no driving to the track so steve explains why.. notice no mention when it comes to MULLET? MULLET is still a drag-n-drive car
Cleetus is running a proline because nobody on that crew can be convinced they need to tear down a motor after every couple passes case and point they yeeted the lash caps off the proline after the second pass because they didn't check the lash...
I love your comment on the difference between an engine assembler and an engine builder. A builder is an engineer and understands all the "why" things have to work this way to last.
Hello Steve, Crank cracked from the torque converter ballooning. At 4000 hp, siezed lifter cause detonation-miss-fire. The instant high torque transferred to the torque converter causing pressure to exceed 2500-5000 psi. 5000 psi can cause 0.250" thick wall 12" torque converter to balloon. The force from the ballooning exceeds 500,000 lbs force. Ck, runout dimension converter mount to bushing flange. If it exceed 0.020"-0.040" it's ballooned.
Thank you for your tech advice/ education. I was not able to comment on your earlier vid about the scratch and dent motor so I shot you an email about it and you confirmed what I was thinking happened. It reminded me of your older videos about the problems with your converter, mullet must be running crazy line pressure and I think you have even talked about it before and had him turn down his line pressure/ line lock
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and explaining the process of BUILDING versus assembling engines. I have been explaining why I file rings, match valve spring pressures, weigh pistons adjust crank end play when building engines since the mid 1980’s and still get the same statement from people. It doesn’t matter the parts are made to fit just put the in. Glad to see even someone of your caliber of engine building gets same result
👍 Steve, I have been a machinist for 37 years, and I understand what you are talking about as in crank thrust. Most people AND mechanics are just part swappers, so most don't understand. You are educating a lot of people, especially those that really want an engine build to last! Love your videos 👍😁
That’s great to hear Dennis. You have a few years on myself but I’m used to 4 cylinders and manly flat 4 over the pond here 🇬🇧. So I’m learning loads along with a lot more pistons 😂
An engine builder here in Auburn, WA taught me the exact same method for setting the rocker arm to valve clearance. Awesome video Steve! Great content.
The legendary "Scratch & Dent Special" lives on! It's kinda amazing how much abuse this block took and still can be rebuild to a potent engine. Way to go! 😎😎🤘🤘
Steve RELAX anyone who has half a clue knows the cleetus crew can be a “bit” rough & ready it’s a fact we know it and I am a massive fan of there’s and yours. It just sounds like your countering haters sometimes and I don’t think you need to your product speaks for itself many times over 🇦🇺🤙
@@stevemorrisracingyou are going to need to make a video with him at LeMullets to prove you don’t hate him now. These comments remind me of when he changed the window decal on mullet from ksr to tbm. Everybody freaked out that him and Kevin had some beef.
Cleetus has too many cars and never dedicates enough time to one specific build. I have a feeling he's going to find out the hard way that maintenance is an every pass sorta thing. It's not your dad's hemi haha. He really dipped his toes into too many things nowadays.

Ya know, I'm 66 years old, since I was 14 or so I have always been a high performance engine nut and it's really cool to see how far you have taken it, through trial and error or whatever, to me your videos are not only entertaining and in my opinion, well done, thanks Steve......................and yeah what was Dewey doing................

Great to see you Steve & Kyle, can't believe Dewey made it up in the bed of the truck, thanks again !!!! Customer and Channel Member! Just realized I'm in the timelapse from today!!!
As a no longer recognised trade Fitter Turner I really appreciate a real expert in the game giving the truth how it all works. Fair play to you and keep it rolling and knock them sceptics guessing
Thanks as always Steve i have been listening to you the last couple of years and I appreciate how much time you spend explaining all of these details about all of the engines you build. It’s very fascinating to now how you keep these high HP motors together.
Love the fact that you build engines that you can actually use outside of a closed environment. I only wish I had something worth putting one in. If you ever do a billet 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder Cummins engine, I'm your guy :D
The smartest mechanic I ever knew told me more than 50 years ago: "If you don't understand how it works, how are you ever going to figure out why it isn't working now?"

I wish that I can build one of those motors. Just the knowledge of knowing that I did it that would be the coolest thing in the world to do. Think the biggest motive I ever built was a 454 big block bored out nasty cam. Turn it into a 512 stroker for a '69 Chevelle SS
Steve its like that nice teacher in school who tells all the facts and Steve really want at peoples learn stuff, so their engines will keep working with out a issues,Big Respect i say and
oh i remember that but didn't realize they were different rods. its crazy how much that motor has been through now that I think of it. I think the main cap stuff is a combo of harmonics and the over rev but no one will ever know for sure.
Maybe some other old timers will remember hearing "My alternator belt squeals when I push in the clutch" on like a '70s 1 ton with a 350. Those could have used Steve's super thrust bearing
I’ve done my time as an industrial maintenance mechanic. It’s something so easy to just look and see what is different in similar assemblies. The hard part is mashing that kind of knowledge into somebody’s brain. 🎶One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn’t belong.🎶
I think the biggest problem with the SMX in Mullet - was mullet was never designed to run that kind of horsepower. It didn't have the chasis to handle that kind of torque, and things were moving/twisting in a way they shouldn't. It's why the Brodix bigblock is actually faster. If things start moving - they'll start breaking. Now the trans and motor aren't solid together, and you get weird forces pressing in places and in ways they weren't meant to. Now stuff breaks.
I will own a Steve Morris engine one day too bad they can’t build me a bad SRT4 4 cylinder engine haha maybe we can do an LS or something…. keep it up man you are a legend!
It’s amazing how much you can learn on this channel.
It is pretty cool

Love when school is in session... and fully understand why you sand and clearance the thrust. Good stuff as always.
