Heterochromia is my favorite eye colour of a character. Some of my favorites Anime character got this eye. Some of them are:
    - Rikka Takanashi
    - Kurumi Tokisaki
    - Kakashi Hatake
    - Hoshino Takanashi
    - Shiroko Sunaookami
    - Uchiha Sasuke
    - Kiana Kaslana
    - Kobato Hasegawa
    - Uchiha Obito
    - Laura Bodewige
    - Mei Misaki
    - Lelouch vi Britannia

One thing I have always found interesting is when sister ships that are similar in design have different eye colours. Like the shrine kitties Yamashiro and Fusou having red and blue eyes respectively.

I think one of the more unique eyes belongs to Plymouth... iridescence in a flowery shape.

How can you talk about heterochromia and not mention the beam queen?

Ace video. It makes me appreciate the design and care that goes into the designs of the shipgirls!
I am surprised that you didn't mention HMS Plymouths Flower shaped iris's!

Special mention goes to Downes and Cassin. Who actually DON'T have heterochromia.
The gold eye that both of them have is actually a fake one.

I prefer Iris color to make sense,
Say, Kearsage with Blue irises would’ve worked better with the rest of her color scheme (pink is a bit strange, but still works fine, even if it gives off an odd feeling)
Others that could’ve worked would be Red, none, best of all, Gold (white, black, and yellow work together better than any others)
Then there’s irises that are along the lines of the ship color themselves (think Flandre), grey-white body, and grey-white Irises, not anything complicated really
That being said, Green could work well (maybe with Kearsage, but it’d be too bright, so eh),
Again, Yellow irises would work well-best, (they’d need to be more dull to match Flandre’s less neon/more realistic scheme compared to Kearsage)
Champagne is probably an outlier, fitting because she doesn’t reveal the eyes too much, and it’s not the worst color combination
    Oh, and Pupil color too
That being all said, a Shipgirl with golden (actually golden, not neon yellow like the Sirens), is Gascogne,
Although it may be the way her head tilts down in the shadows
Personally am a fan of Iris colors with variations in brightness, and some other stuff (be it random lines, anime white shiny patches, symbols),
Sirin’s eyes from Honkai Impact 3rd comes to mind (also has a great color matching with her Irises, her whole design is pretty much interesting)
Such eyes provide more to look at, and better insight into the character themselves, if done well,
(And I also might like the more realistic aspect, eyes aren’t just blank, they have tiny differences, many fractals, all sorts of things coming together to make a unique design, with a unique color)
