✎ She was considered a prodigy who rose to stardom despite not starting ballet until the age of 13. By age 15, her mother and ballet teachers, who were serving as her custodial guardians, fought a custody battle over her. In 1997, Copeland won the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Award as the best dancer in Southern California. As a soloist from 2007 to mid-2015, she was described as having matured into a more contemporary and sophisticated dancer. She's also a public speaker, celebrity spokesperson and stage performer. She has written two autobiographical books and narrated a documentary about her career challenges, A Ballerina's Tale. In 2015, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. She performed on Broadway in On the Town, toured as a featured dancer for Prince and appeared on the reality television shows.

My favourie was when she said that the young dancers motivated her, and that she can change the future of theses girls, and she felt like superhuman. I really appreciate that. The children have to have somebody to admire. That helps them to become a great adult.
I am always impressed by anyone rising above any type of road blocks that are put into their way. Misty Copeland is that kind of person. Listening to her makes you want to be just like her. Her hard work and positive attitude will make others, especially those who are critical and hurtful. see how small their mentality is toward someone who might become a Misty Copeland.
Misty Copeland is an amazing human, so strong-minded, passionate and intelligent. She took her potential and promise that her first teachers saw in her and turned it into something that is changing the ballet world for the better! I'm a long time fan of Misty's and have loved seeing her life's work turn into the success that it has.
I find it amazing what P.O.C ( People of color) have to do to be considered/accepted by society. I find it depressing how many P.O.C that do not get the chance to show their talent because of racial differences and ignorance. Society does suffer in the long run from the absences of brilliants and greatness of people of color.

Wow. Even though I have missed the golden opportunity to dance, I am inspired to be the best Me today. I do appreciate Technology...the internet is awesome. It feels so good to hear someone understand my struggles and speak to me without even knowing me. I feel like I really know Misty Copeland and one day I pray that our paths will cross. My 4th son is a Junior in college and sometimes I feel so washed up. I have lived life through these guys so vicariously, I have attended MIT and YALE. Vicariously, I have received a P.H.D in Engineering.

Evan, I want to add something that actually I heard her say on the Tamron Hall show recently (today is 6 November 21): "I [as an American] have the right to strive to achieve the acceptance into any space I choose (paraphrase)."
