Thank you so much for doing this video. Having seen this I think I am going to hold off on TGATB language arts and give this ago instead. It looks engaging and interactive many thanks x
Is there an index of the mini-lessons and/or the writing exercises? If I specifically wanted to do a lesson on using verbs, is there a place I could look to find out where all the verb lessons are - rather than just flipping around?
Yes there is! I should have showed that as well. There are a couple pages at the back broken down in sections of grammar, punctuation, writers workshop procedures, 6 traits of writing, literary devices, and writing skills
Have have a 12 year old child with some learning challenges. Dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and slow processing. We used WriteShop E and we are currently using WriteShop F. I am considering changing and trying out layers of learning writers workshop. I am going to purchase layers of learning. Would I get a good idea how writers workshop is by using layers of learning? Is it similar? I hope I’m making sense.🤦♀️
Honestly I don’t feel like the other LOL programs are much like Writers Workshop. Other than the fact that you kind of pick your own things for assignments instead of the typical curriculum where you just work through everything listed. I don’t know anything about Writeshop to compare it though
Not consistently so far. Again, we haven’t used it long. I do have some of TGTB, Gentle Grammar, and Fix It grammar that I may pull out for extra practice on occasion
Well my oldest is just going into 6th grade, so I don’t have a lot of experience in that area. But I think it would be good if you just had higher expectations as far as length and progression. Also if you tied that Research paper unit in as well that would help. Are you part of the FB group? There are likely more experienced mamas with older kids there that would help you!
This was so helpful, thank you! This looks like what I am looking for for my son.

I’m thinking of using this next year. Thanks for this review!

Do you use an additional ELA curriculum alongside Writer’s Workshop?

How do you feel about this being used for all four years of high school for writing? Is it thorough enough?
