    For those wanting this awesome intro to surface in high/decent quality, your wishes have been granted! (seriously Disney, just release these anthology episodes onto Disney+ already!!!)
    Sources:
    Various WDHV Japanese Laserdiscs from the mid-late 80's
    Sultan and the Rock Star (credits)
    t0nito's Walt Disney CBC upload
    MeredithVintage's Donald Duck CBS special recorded on Betamax
    used various filters for the raw footage to take out the "HOME VIDEO" text (the WDHV prints were the highest quality copies of this intro yet) and used various programs (ESRGAN, Topaz) to upscale and remaster the audio the best I could to today's standard of HD.
    Intro Credits:
    Frank Gari for this banger track! (again, why hasn't this been released officially in full?!)

    Frank Gari is amazing. I think the Walt Disney 1982 theme song was also a collaboration with John Debney.

      I recognize some of John Debney's work on the anthology series around this time; he co-wrote the theme song "On Christmas Morning" for the clip-show episode "A Disney Christmas Gift" (1982)

      The lyrics of that song were written by Linda Laurie, who wrote Helen Reddy’s least favorite of her 1970s hits, “Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress).”

    For those wondering why people may mention this as a home video logo, lemme explain. From 1983 to March of 1987, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (as Walt Disney Home Video back then), used this as their home video logo for international territories, aka not the US and Canada. “HOME VIDEO” would be placed under Walt Disney, and the music was slightly modified. As most tapes were PAL, it was in a higher pitch and a little faster. Some tapes had “presents” under HOME VIDEO in the language the tape was in/country it was sold in. Here’s an example: ruclips.net/video/t8SLezoz7tY/видео.html

      I think a lot of those countries actually used the previous *Disney’s Wonderful World* disco theme later than we did. The backlash against disco was largely an American thing perpetuated by boomers who couldn’t deal with the fact that some people liked genres other than rock ‘n’ roll. Scandinavia was using the Debney/Klawitter composition as late as 1982 based on what RUclips has turned up.

      CBS obviously felt somewhat guilty about *60 Minutes* beating its butt in the ratings every week since it was on TV first and was instrumental in making TV what it became, so they gave it a chance to show what it could do on a different night, an opportunity NBC denied them. NBC insisted on keeping the show on Sunday night when Disney was willing to agree to another night just so they didn’t have to compete with *60 Minutes.* They wanted Wednesday, but that was where *Real People* went instead.

      I’m guessing that this is why they changed the name of the anthology show to just *Walt Disney:* to make it easier to use it for multiple purposes.
      They also replaced the musical score with a different one in syndication for the *Disney Magic* movie package which includes imagery that is exclusive to it, such as a neon figure of Dumbo.

    Well, Guess what? I don’t blame ya.
    For classic Disney fanatics, I’m sure they’ll be Disappointed.
    For me, It bugged me of how the Disney+ app poorly-treated "The Mickey Mouse Club" franchise, with only the Week One episodes from 1955, alongside the first year/1955-1956 season of "The Adventures of Spin & Marty" being streamed.
    What about the Teen MMC series? Dammit, I forgot. Music licensing issues. Right.
    Then, What about the other MMC serials? Y’know, like "The Hardy Boys", "Annette", "Teen Angel" and "Emerald Cove"?

    • @AndrewsMagicandMore
      @AndrewsMagicandMore 2 года назад +3

      Yeah and Disney Plus' uploads of episodes from The Wonderful World of Disney that ARE on there (as in the episodes *produced for* the anthology series, not theatrical movies that were aired as part of the show), are placed on there as individual specials not as episodes of a larger series; meaning they're not filed under "The Wonderful World of Disney" (same thing with the Amazon Prime and iTunes uploads).

    • @JordansCornerofNostalgia
      @JordansCornerofNostalgia 2 года назад +2

      Well, of course, considering of how Lengthy they are for One Hour.
      But, in this particular case, Disney+ obviously didn’t much gave a crap about the "Walt Disney Presents" anthology series, considering of how "Too Old" it is. And, I actually thought that Disney+ was worth watching, but I was wrong. I’ll still watch it whenever I feel like it, but I’ll keep in touch if any Bad News/Events involving Disney+ occurs.
      And, What about some other soaps? Y’know, like "All My Children", "One Life to Live", "General Hospital", "Loving" (and its post-"Loving"-era spin-off, "ABC Daytime's The City") and "Ryan's Hope".
      No wonder they didn’t want titles considered Too Soapy or Overdramatic for its platform for viewers to stream, considering that Soap Operas are not "Family-Friendly".
      Hey, Disney+, don’t forget about the fact that YOU, yourself pushed over your limits by streaming M-rated titles, like the "Marvel Knights" series from Netflix (Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher and Daredevil) and "Marvel's Deadpool", considering of how Hard-Core Fans wanted shows to stream.
      So, in that case, why don’t you release some Soapy titles that is not "Family-Friendly" to you? Huh?!

    • @Attmay
      @Attmay Год назад +3

      I think the producers of *Ryan’s Hope* own the rights now unless it was ever sold to ABC late in its run or after its cancellation. A bunch of the other soaps have huge gaps in their archives because they were never really saved until the late 1970s.

    • @JordansCornerofNostalgia
      @JordansCornerofNostalgia Год назад +1

      Well, I suppose. And, I bet that Disney+ didn’t made hubs for ABC Daytime, SOAPnet and JETIX, tbh, since THOSE are missing from the app. But, I do hope they’ll be added in the near future.
      Besides, It would be quite-frankly Impossible to stream "Ryan’s Hope" on the Disney+ app, considering how most episodes survived in videotape or surviving film print or negative format existed, due to crappy network practices at the time, and even how lengthy the list of episodes are, considering by year, season and/or serialized chapter.
      So therefore, I guess you’re right.

    Good job with the video, but the audio still needs equalization matching. There are also plenty of announcer-free sources you could’ve used instead.
    I also would like to see the extended 60-second version get an upconvert as well. I used it in a video I made years ago and I wish I had had technology like this then. I was just happy to have access to it.

    • @silvus
      @silvus  5 месяцев назад +1

      At the time of doing that upscale, many of the sources audio-wise were subpar due to the lack of hi-fi recordings out there, and if there was it either lacked bitrate or it was PAL-pitched. So I really didn’t have much to work with. Maybe someday I could redo this if a higher quality copy of the 60-second version is out there.
      I’d also love to see said announcer-free sources if there’s any that have surfaced recently.

      There is a minute-long cut you can find here on RUclips, but the picture and sound quality is not as good.
      This upconversion isn’t perfect, either; you can still see some blending frames, especially with the neon Donald Duck. That’s the one thing that consumer/prosumer-grade software doesn’t seem to be able to do anything about.
