I know it’s too late now but for anyone else watching you can get 1mm thick slitting discs that make it very easy to follow a thin pencil line. I use them at work and they are what’s needed here, thy are better than a jigsaw. Also I’d mask the paintwork where there sparks are flying..
AlabamaTree yeah I should have used a much smaller disc. Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes!
I would drop a strong magnet in the door insulation near the lock so that it sticks to the bodywork when you open it. 👍
That’s a great idea!
Buying the same van soon. Try a Jigsaw with a metal blade for thin metal cutting.
Chris Harrington yeah I tried a reciprocating saw with fine cut blades but it sucked. Next time will try the jigsaw. Cheers!
Defo Jigsaw mate. Metal fine tooth blade. Interesting you put the door for toilet horizontal. I'm doing same van with same loo etc but instructions show door vertical. Looking forward to the next video. :-)
I have a building collection of hole cutters due to opting for round parts instead of rectangles to save the hassle. My electric hook up is round and it took no time at all. Yeah I've seen them both ways, if i was to do it again I would install it 180 degrees differently so that when I open the hatch it falls down rather than lifts up. That way I don't have to hold it open. Good luck with the build!!
The hinge goes to the side or bottom. You'll need both hands to replace the cassette after you've emptied it. With the hinge at the top the door will be hanging in the way.
John Foot correct. I learnt that the hard way. Although it’s not actually that hard to do.
@@MotoringHome I've done a few builds myself over the years. Many lessons learned the hard way ! lol
John Foot agreed!
no part 2 for this video showing how you finished up with the casset toilet install
I have all the video, I just haven't gotten around to editing it yet sorry
Back ground music, why?? Too loud.
When's the next video? Can't wait to see it when its finished, you have done everything the way I would if I was to do my own van...your a perfectionist 👌 😊
Aw thanks! I’m so far ahead of this but I’d always rather work on the van than edit a video! The up to date stuff is on Instagram @motoringhome but I’ll do my best to get another video up soon...
MotoringHome wow you have done some amount of work on it now!! Its looking really good 👌 what made you take the final leap to do this? I think I would be too scared atm but I would love to do it..if that makes sense lol
la laa I sold my house while I was away on tour with a show last year. I now work all over the country so rather than buy again and keep paying out for accommodation I decided to go van life!
Always wanted to build a tiny house too
Drill the corners and cut into them
I wonder if Hamerite is the UK version of Rustoleum and vice versa?
So now you need to hold up lid while removing cassette. If lid drop down instead of up would be easier.
Hey, I have a small question about the model of the toilet. Thanks :D
I don’t know if they do this model anymore but it’s the Thetford C200 CW
@@MotoringHome Thank you!! This is the best comunity ever:D
Hi mate do you have a close up of the exterior door frame onto the outside of the van. I also have a boxer van and I've done some quick measures and the size of the frame looks like it'll be a squeeze between the body trim and the crease line above...
sorry for the late reply, I didn't have too much trouble with that crease but had a nightmare with the chassis underneath when trying to cut the shower drain in!
How much space do you have in door when you slide cassette out
paul paul what did you mean? Like how tight a fit is it? It’s plenty of room for the cassette
allways grid up to your grinder,(follow the spinning of the blade) not backwards, it better for straight cuts ;)
Liebenz87 so sparks flying at me or away from me? I also think if I was to do it again I would use a little disc on a multi tool for the corners. The larger disc was a nightmare.
MotoringHome sparks at you, but you need toch go in a forward motion, not pulling it backwards. It's easyer to control the disc
Awesome, thanks!!
do you have the link to buy the toilet and access door too
the door i got from ebay, I believe its Thetford access door 3. The toilet I just googled but can't remember who I ended up getting it from. maybe Jacksons leisure?
The background music is really distracting!!
The ideal cat door...
Why do you look like a wahlburg brother? You look like Mark and Donnie Wahlburg mixed together lol
I was almost Mark’s stand in for a film a few years ago but apparently I was too big in the end 😂
Wish you were the handyman l paid to install mine, instead of the twit that did
Sorry to hear it didn’t go to plan, hopefully you can have ago at fixing any issues yourself?
Doggy door @3:03
Heli PadUSA that would actually be a pretty cool idea if you have a pet! Maybe not best for security though
