Gyobang Gutgeori(교방 굿거리) Dance!!!

Gyobang(교방) means Kisaeng's academy, and Gutgeori(굿거리) is a kind of traditional Korean rhythm. Gyobang Gutgeori(교방 굿거리) is a combination of Gyobangmu(Kisaeng's basic dance) and Sogochum(Dance with a small drum).
I love her movements when she rolls up her Chima and plays the small drum. I hope you like it, too!!! :)

Kisaeng and Gyobang had not disappeared in Japanese colonial period., but just their administrative types had changed into kwonbun(檢番, 券番Japanese Gelsha administration type). But Korean Gysaeng's art were survived. So we can say that at that time Kisaeng existed, while Gyobang was transformed(into kwonbun). Gysaeng and Kwonburn were banned in 1950s by female protection law.

You're right. Unfortunately, however, we don't call them Kisaeng any more. The word for Kisaeng has disappeared. What a tragedy!!! :(

and i think it was very good to have banned Gysaeng and Kwonburn. after that ex-Gysaengs could teach their pupils in pubnlic scene without being disdained by the public, and so many ordinary women became want to learn Korean dancing.

Unfortunately, it doesn't. Since the Japanese colonial period, Kisaeng and Gyobang have disappeared... :(
