Thanks Gary, it's good to hear from you. I've found a new lease of life with bikes and RUclips. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. All the best, Dave
You are very welcome. I'm so pleased when I know that others have got enjoyment from my videos. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What a lovely part of the world, no wonder so many people flock there. Unless you've had crap you've no idea how painful it is. When I get a spell of them I move into the spare room, at least I can hop around the room without being asked ' what are you up to ?'. Thanks for sharing your rides.
Thanks for watching the video and commenting Colin. Yeah, cramp can be excruciating and must look funny to the onlooker, watching me in agony hopping round trying to alleviate it...😂
Haha haha 'Hare Restorer'...........very good. Lovely area. Not had so much fun watching an old bloke 'work' before. I'd struggle up them hills .........'An Old Lady on a Brompton' Thank you for filming and sharing your adventures. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing. Glad you enjoyed the video and the joke...😂 I really like the look of a Brompton, I might get one myself, easier when getting the train with a bike.
@@davidbenson735 That's exactly why I bought mine. The folding is fantastic and makes it so manageable to go on buses or trains without booking. Surprisingly it's lovely to ride too though the tyre pressures are enormous. I have the 6 gear version though the 2 gear levers: one 3 gear Sturmey Archer and one +/- on the other handlebar take some getting used to. I've also dropped the front chainring from 50T to 40T as it's originally designed for London commuting and I live on the edge of the Pennines .......lots of hills!!! The first video of yours I watched was the Way of the Roses .......and I am sorely tempted with some wild camping thrown in.
Yeah, sometimes it can be a real pain getting on and off a train with a full size touring bike, not to mention the hassle in having to book the bike on the journey. I have been watching videos by Susanna Thornton going all over the country on her Brompton, very inspiring. I can thoroughly recommend the Way of the Roses route. Happy cycling...🚴♀️
@@davidbenson735 I agree as far as cycle touring on a Brompton goes she is very inspiring. I have yet to take mine on a train. I had planned to do Way of the Roses just next week with a degree of trepidation and even already bought the train tickets Sadly my partner had an accident last weekend so I shall now have to put it back to next year. On the positive side it'll give me time to try taking it on a train, do a few longer rides and some overnight/cycling trips.
Sorry to hear about your partner's accident and you having to cancel your Way of the Roses trip. Wishing you the very best for doing it next year on your Brompton.
Thanks a lot for watching the video and commenting. You are very lucky living in such a beautiful part of the UK. Thanks also for the info about Attermire Scar, I'd like to take a walk around there one day. Cheers...👍🏻
That was a nice relaxing video to watch. I'm hoping to cycle in the Dales in the future, Five-foot Lyth gave me the inspiration & this video has re-inforced it, thank you. Regarding cramp in a narrow sleeping bag, I've had that after walking. I see some lightweight campers are using down quilts instead of a bag (with a good mat). Maybe that would be a good option for you? Paul Messner has discussed bags vs quilts a lot on his channel.
Thanks for watching and commenting Duncan, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. And thanks also for the advice about using a quilt, I could try that if the cramp keeps giving me problems. I hope you manage to do some cycling in the Yorkshire Dales, it's a great place and often referred to as "cycling heaven". All the best...🚲
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. It's as well that the "honeypot" villages attract most people, keeping the outlying areas quiet and peaceful, to be enjoyed without the crowds...😀
What a beautiful area of England for cycling are the Yorkshire Dales. This old bloke is going Wednesday for a couple days of cycling. Got vey inspired to go now after seeing you having such a good time on your bike. Superb. Take care now, thanks for sharing.
It's got to be my favourite area for bike riding. The superb scenery, the smooth road surfaces with very few potholes and there are lots of nice cafes. I cannot wait to go back again. Thanks for watching and commenting...👍🏻
Yeah I agree, they are very friendly people running the site. The grass pitches were perfect, well cut and easy for pegs to go in the ground. I'll definitely be going back there. Thanks for watching and commenting...👍🏻
Hi love your videos .Malam is lovely and the surrounding area .But drenched with tourist's im afraid to say Stayed at the YHA while hiking Pennine way Yorkshire dales beautiful has you know. @@davidbenson735 you could even combine 8 & 9 for a longer ride, turn right at Ribblehead instead of left and then pick up the anti clockwise route to Dent and back to Ingleton (so opposite way to what you did). Reckon that’s about just over 40 miles in total. If you’re in Ingleton again, we had breakfast in the cafe above Inglesport (which is where I purchased the book). The breakfast was superb!
Hi old bloke....really enjoy your videos, I too am a old bloke on a bike don’t let the the profile fool you it's me wifes. I am interested to find out if you keep GPX files of your rides I will be returning in January and would like to trace your bike crawl route? Cheers Terry
Hi Terry, thanks for watching my videos and for your appreciation of them...👍🏻 I log all my rides on my Strava account so you would probably be able to download a gpx file from that. I'm on Strava as David Benson, Warrington. The bike crawl ride was logged on December 7th 2022. Hope that helps, cheers and happy cycling...🚴🏼

My Pinnacle bike is an Arkose 4 from Evans Cycles.

I did that climb out of Dent last year. It’s absolutely brutal .
Blimey, I was so glad I was going down that one rather than up. Kudos to you for doing it...👏🏻
