Great coverage of the ongoing builds, thank you! Strongly agree with the idea of bringing a new station to Vauxhall with all the development happening around the area there in the north of the city. If you draw a half-mile circle around all Merseyrail stations (including the planned Liverpool Baltic), you'll see quite a gap between Moorfields and Sandhills. My suggestion would be to build a station in the middle of that gap, with entrance somewhere around Upper William Street and Love Lane. Most of the land beside is already owned by Network Rail. However, planning consent has already been given to Sourced to build residential right up to the railway line here, which I worry could prevent this part of Liverpool from ever getting the rail connection it deserves.
Thanks very interesting points. There are quite a few projects round here and the population is going to grow. I agree, construction of residential units shouldn't prevent a station from being built. I'll keep my eye on this area and will return soon.
There are two different towers under construction in the area around Cain's brewery. One of them is in the space where the chippy was, directly next to Baltic Convenience store, which is funny because they only built it about two years ago and it's already been demolished, however the convenience store remains for now. The second tower is under construction in one of the carparks, however I do not know what it will be use for as it has only just started construction, and the foundation currently seems too small to be useful for fitting many people inside, but maybe the final will floor plan will end up being larger. What is interesting though is that you can see the remains of old brick structures underground in the spots they have dug to make the foundation.
Liverpool seems to be doing something better than Manchester, by focusing more on brickwork that matches their surroundings and fit in better. The brick buildings with arches look very aesthetically pleasing. My only wish is that they wouldn't all have flat roofs. Most buildings in this video are not dominating their surroundings or screaming for attention like the huge towers in downtown Manchester. Great update, thanks!
Yes, that’s positive, I think the use of bricks or brick facades is good. The new apartments overlooking Wirral Waters, they have sloping roofs. Actually, I like the tall buildings in Manchester as well but let’s allow Liverpool and Manchester each do things in their own way.

I think Hartley Locks could end up being one of the most photogenic places in Liverpool like you say. Hopefully no more stalled construction! @@theadventurousallotmenteer6582 No, I don’t see how they can continue with it. The part-built concrete framework will have to be demolished and then a new building constructed. Very wasteful!

@@AidanEyewitness Yes Manchester should have had the m6 toll extension and m60 etc however alternate solutions could have been made but it didn’t happen and a ring m60 like the m25 was devised breaking into the m62 and wrecking that. @@AidanEyewitness I’ve lived in the area of Kirkdale/Walton for 70+ years and plenty of money (relatively) has been invested in the South of Liverpool and also the city centre has been refurbished twice during this period. Very frustrating/annoying…
Some of the developments are quite interesting but a lot of the new buildings are just boring blocks!I had a walk around Princes Dock the other day and the only construction that was eye catching was The Lexington.
The project stalled when the developer Elliott ran into financial difficulties a few years ago. They had built the concrete base of the building. Since then, it’s stayed like that, gathering rust and grime. Either they try to continue it or they just demolish what’s there and build new. That happened with a project in Manchester. A new building was completed a few years ago.
It did stall , because everything had to go through the scrutiny of central government because our local labour MPS are crimminally corrupt. As such, planning permission went from taking 6 weeks, to up to 2 years.
Yes could do though, the number matches, but they already have things named after them. It’s a private development, so it’s up to the developers to decide.
