My Catholic mom taught me morality without ever involving god. The example I will remember forever was the discussion about my plush toys, part of which my mom urged me to donate to refugee children. She did not say I should do it because Jesus will be pleased and might invite me to heaven. She said I should do it because of the positive impact it will have on refugee children. She invited me to empathize. This lesson survived my deconversiom with ease because it is mote basic and powerful than any religious teaching or authority.
Doesn't everyone consider themselves to be some standard? Hope this doesn't sound adversarial, just asking what others think. People often declare "I am a rational person....", "I am a skeptical person.....", but those need to be demonstrated. An irrational person likely considers themself to be rational. Thoughts?
There are some people (albiet rare) that do openly admit that are evil, greedy, ruthless, power hungry, etc. Sometimes also saying those qualities are what's needed for the circumstance.

All the “greater good” theodicies boil down to “God creates suffering so that people will be better at dealing with suffering,” and it’s gross. It sounds like, “Officer, the reason I graped her ten to fifteen times a day is so that she would get used to being graped.”

Morality is doing what is right, no matter what you are told.
Religion is doing what you are told, no matter what is right.
Perfectly said 💪💪💪

If you’re a moral person all on your own, that’s always better than being forced to be.
True, and being forced to be moral isn't moral
@@charlessarver1637 And you can be forced to act morally, but you cant be forced to be moral ( aka , change who you are).
@@Goldenhawk583yes I agree but if it's forced it's not moral it's fear. The person is just basically being a save ass
“If the story of Adam and Eve is true” is a crazy argument.
We don't have any words written by Jesus to compare him to everyone who ever lived.
Untrue, Buddha predated him
I consider myself to be a moral person. No Jesus required or desired.
