  • @holymackenaw

    His TdF 2022 was the most dominant performance i have ever seen. GC riders pick their spots and stages. He dominated almost every stage for 3 weeks.

    • @Tibovl
      @Tibovl Год назад +72

      Honestly, I think many people forget how insane some of those performances were. He got eight, yes fucking eight, medals. 3 sprints, 2 TT's, 1 punchy uphill finish, a successful attack on a 'sprint stage' and a mountaintop finish that he only lost because he had to help Vingegaard secure yellow. Not even mentioning the fact that he essentially saved the Tour for Vingegaard on stage 5, and then went in the attack all day on stage 6 (it didn't work, but was still exceptionally impressive).
      I think he is the only rider that can take both the green and mountain jerseys in one tour.

      As impressive as Vingegaard’s victory over Pogacar was, I think most people will remember first and foremost WVA performance, which rarely happens, especially if the GC winner beats out a guy who’ll probably end up being one of the GOATs.

    • @FlyingPastilla
      @FlyingPastilla Год назад +3

      I'd say CX gave him the explosivity to produce high-torque, the resistance to fatigue from all out efforts in harsh conditions and without food or water, also the bike-handling.
      I heard him say he had to do big changes to his training so he could do longer efforts. He was apparently relying almost exclusively on glucose and had to do big blocs of zone 2 to develop his ability to use fat. I guess this gave him a great aerobic foundation below his existing base, making him great on long climbs and TT as well since he is a big boy.
      From there he'd be able to use his glucose metabolism to support even greater intensities. This combined with the explosivity necessary for CX made him a great sprinter at ease in long, high-speed sprints.
      And also the sauce is likely be top-notch at Jumbo, as in other top teams

    Cycling's greatest all-rounder might be Pidcock: road, CX and MTB, he's amazing at all.

    • @cervin1865

      You are forgetting that MvDP is better than Pidcock on Road, with this i mean that his victories are more high profile, he is better at cyclo cross and when they meet on MTB track MvDP more often than not also beats him. In Tokyo MvDP feel, he was number one favourite. And Pidcock's cyclo cross world title in USA last year was possible because WvA and MvDP didnt want to travel there; Pidcock would be the first to admit that yss, he won, but there has never been a question he is not really on par with them.

      Wout doesn't play Pro Baseball, Basketball nor Football either!
      IMO, *the term "All-rounder" mainly refers to the many aspects of* *_Road Cycling_* (as written in the description) with cyclocross tossed in.

      I still think you're just a fanboi. Those are completely different riders, you cannot compare a dwarf against a giant (size-wise). And don't get me wrong, I like Pogiboy as well, nothing but respect. But we'll see next year ...

      @@wimve4719 it's my opinion he does the same as Wout climb sprinting time trial classics and GC so why only wout then the best allrounders when pogi has more wins and does everything like him?

      @@cheyennekip OK, fair enough. I agree. As I said, Pogi is 'incontournable' at this moment. Even(epoel) the other greats of this nowadays sports confirm it. Even Merckx confirms it. No hate from me, juist awesome admiration. But you still cannot compare these two riders regarding skillset). Let's just appreciate the both of them within their accomplishments.

      @@cheyennekip Likewise mate. Pogi is the GOAT right now. Big respect and I love his interviews too (also Primoz's, they always make me laugh 🙂) Anyway, let's make a truce here ... we both love our riders, and we will fanboi for them whenever we can :-D And let the competition going 😀
