  • That’s it! The 2023 Rugby World Cup is is all over and man has that taken us on an emotional rollercoaster.
So much to discuss in this last ever episode of the Dance in France review show. It’s been awesome having Searley and Jacob Atkins join me for the RWC to give their analysis and for this one last time they go hard.
7 out of the 8 knockout games came down to the last play! Again the final was no different, the All blacks playing a majority of the game with 14 men, South Africa playing with plenty of passion, winning collisions. Tension was high, drama was even higher. You’ll hear all our thoughts in the episode but incredibly proud of the All Blacks and their performance.
We also talk the 3rd and 4th playoff game, how we think we can fix the TMO issue with our game, fantasy rugby wrap up and heaps more.
I’ve really enjoyed bringing these episodes to you, hopefully in 4 years time we are even bigger and better! Let me know you're thoughts in the comments.

Barnes never apologized to Ardie. His words were “Sorry mate I thought he stayed on him. I never saw him come off enough”. i.e. he was explaining his decision. Move on.

He’s explaining the decision while kind of apologising that he didn’t see him come off? That is after seeing a slow Mo replay of course too. Ive got no issues with it 👍

I’m somewhat confused by so many pundits saying this was not a spectacle. What would make a World Cup final a spectacle? 5 tries, would that qualify? NZ scored one try and just about scored a couple more. SA missed two very close try attempts. On another day most of those are scored and we have a 4-5 try final. How is one team defending a 1 point lead for 22 minutes and another doing everything they can to overturn that lead not a spectacle? That was the epitome of two heavyweights slugging it out with every human emotion being thrown in during the longest 22 minutes ever. It’s was a 50/50 game till the end. This was the pinnacle of World Cup finals. So for the love of God please tell me how it wasn’t a spectacle.

Not sure if you guys watched the documentary Chasing the Sun. Not sure on what platform it is available outside of SA.

Magnificent effort from both teams,i think the experience of the Boks, just nicked it for them…the standard of rugby in those conditions was remarkable….Jimmy is it just me,or is Franco Mostert the most underrated utility forward in the world ? Great craic once again, always great analysis from you lads

Awesome comments and synopsis but the one action that few discuss is the impact of losing Bongi in the 3rd minute... It nullified the scrum and if it was in fact accidental the impact was massive... SA and NZ are the greatest rugby teams and they are close... Interestingly the biggest shift in rugby occurred in 2017/8 when officials started to penalize NZ for foul play and persistent infringement.
We will see how the future plays out but there has been a structural shift away from NZ dominance between RWC's while SA dominants the tournaments...
4 from 8 while NZ has won 3 from 10 including 2011 where Bryce Lawrence cheated and in 2015 George Ayoub interfered and supported the NZ cause.

Missing kicks, not taking penalty goals is part of the reason the AB's lost with a forward pass try to boot that they "got away with". It is not rugby if knock ons are ignored as long as the game "flows". Explain the rules of rugby to your children rather than blaming the TMO. 😊

Guys the losing side is always going to complain but what if you have a biased ref as we've had plenty in the past so TMO mitigates that

South African here - I dnt know how we won the past 3 games but we did. I guess that is why I dnt like sports ( too much luck, controversy etc involved. It is not necessarily the best team that wins but we really wanted it and our country needs it actually. We have loads of issues and rugby is the only thing that unites black and white and we forget about our problems through rugby . That is sports though, it is never black and white. Something stupid like the ball bouncing the wrong way due to it being wet can literally determine the outcome, not fair but it is what it is )

That’s the beauty of it for me, the unpredictably of it. Unbelievable achievement to win all 3 games by 1 point, such a united team 🙌

Agree regards to ref. Ben O'Keefe copped a heap of flak over France SA quarter final. Bad form by salty supporters. WR should implement super rugby card system for a red. Had a massive effect on the game. Agree also regarding TMO. System needs tweaking!! Congratulations to SA. Better on the night unfortunately.

Wayne Barnes apologising to Ardie left me seething! Not sure if it was possible but surely if he knows he's made an error, he can ask the TMO to review so that we get the correct decision..??? Really poor in a World Cup Final.

Last thing we need is more reviews in my opinion. Those breakdown ones are such small margins

BUT he didn't know he made an error because if you listen carefully you'll hear him apologising for NOT seeing the replay...so he stuck to his interpretation.
