A brilliant light for an area of the world that desperately needs it.

How is this a light? Only temple worthy members are allowed to attend the temple once the open house is over. Not much of a light at all.

I grew up going to the Mesa Temple but D.C. was always my favorite. I was able to get my Endowments there in 1996 before my mission. It still is my favorite.

Does anyone know what the chapel looking area on the top floor is for? I’ve never seen that in any temple I’ve been to.

It’s used for certain solemn assemblies by general authorities of the church. The room is patterned after the Kirtland Temple and is similar to the one in the Salt Lake Temple. Sometimes stakes will hold a special meeting in the assembly room for a stake temple night. Washington DC temple was the last one to have an priesthood assembly room built in it. Other temples with one include the Manti temple, st George temple, and LA Temple among others.
