That book, Crossing the Tiber is not marketed right. It's very UNDER marketed. It's marketed as a conversion story. In my early days as a Catholic convert, I enjoyed reading conversion stories, so I ordered the book. When I received it though and saw how many pages, I thought to myself, "300 pages to tell a conversion story?" That was too much for me, since I was more compelled to read Apologetic books. I truly appreciate 300 page Apologetic books!!! So on my book shelf it sat. For YEARS. One day I decided to read it. I was so mad I waited so long!!! This 300 page "conversion story" book is actually about 280 pages of Apologetics on baptism and the Eucharist. He shows baptism and the Eucharist is THROUGHOUT the entire bible from Genesis-Revelation. He also covers the Early Church Fathers on those topics. The conversion story is only about 20 pages. Crossing the Tiber should be more marketed as an apologetic book and every person should read it.
@@shihyuchu6753 Exactly. Yeah the Marian lover who doesn't know what he is talking about. These people have a false doctrine and another Jesus and MARY
Very true. Just watched a lecture from 10 years ago on how to evangelise for the Catholic faith. He wears a crucifix everyone can see. Occasionally he gets asked about it. It's something we can all do though it requires a certain amount of courage.
Hebrews 9:15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant. Jesus became "the mediator of a new covenant" when he said "this is my blood of the covenant," but this was only possible "because a death has occurred." This proves that while Jesus had indeed finished his sacrifice on the cross, he had actually already "established" it during the Last Supper by stating "this is my blood of the [new] covenant!" Thus, without physically dying he had nevertheless "established" his death: Hebrews 9:16-17 For where a covenant is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. When Jesus "established" his death at the Last Supper and then said "do this in remembrance of me" (Matthew 26:27) he had empowered the Apostles to also establish his death in the Eucharistic sacrifice: "For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes" (1st Corinthians 11:26). Hebrews 9:16-17 For where a covenant is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. 6).
I just went to Amazon and bought the book, Crossing the Tigris. Looking forward to reading it. I came back from Iraq and my wife was tied up in a Baptist thing and knowing the truth and loving her I am so conflicted to attend that church with her and she is stitched right in. Pray for us, Please!
I appreciate you bringing Mr. Ray on. I love his work. He is a blessing to Mother Church. I would love to go on one of his pilgrimage some day. God bless you both.
But it is not the Catholic Church, that is why I left. All Catholics should read "50 Years in the Church of Rome", by Charles Chiniquy, who was a priest. Sunday is not God's Sabbath, it is a false sabbath. The Catholic Church did not want there members to read the Bible, and even burnt Bibles. Read the book I have mentioned above. Jesus did not start the Catholic Church, the church was founded on the rock who is Christ not Peter. The Catechism and tradition is a creation of the Papacy, and not valid for anyone.
Happy Anniversary to Steve and Mrs. Ray. Awesome podcast Blue Catholic Collar. I agree with what Steve Ray said, sadly most Protestants still disagree.
The best book I've come across on the history of the Bible is 'Where We Got the Bible - Our Debt to the Catholic Church' by Henry G. Graham. He was a convert minister from the Kirk of Scotland. Published by Catholic Answers Maybe this is the book Steve referred to.
I here crickets! Well done guys. Keep up the good work in clarifying the truth told from the Catholic prospective and not from Protestant miss understanding.
Happy Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. Ray! God's continued Blessings for many more years! I have not fully watched yet but know it will be a great segment- thank you Rob! PS# Gary Michuta would be an amazing guest!

Be careful, Steve is a very smooth talker. He has a way of making things sound correct but if you look carefully into the things he's saying you will find problems. For example he used Ignatius of Antioch to affirm the RCC claim about the eucharist. But what he didn't do is read you the whole letter that Ignatius wrote. He only read one small piece of the letter. If you take the time to read the whole letter you will see what Ignatius was actually expressing. Steve takes a small portion of the letter and takes it out of context and says .. see this is what a early church father who studied under the apostle John said so it has to be so. The whole context of the letter that Steve quoted from was not even about the eucharist but rather about a group of people around 1900 years who did not believe that God came in the flesh. People who denied Christ. It was this denial of Christ being God in the flesh that Ignatius was actually addressing. I attached a link below more accurately showing you want I'm saying. Many of people like Steve can be very convincing and extremely good at making people believe what there saying, but remember this is there business, this is there skill. Scripture warns us of people who be extremely crafty and will appear as believers but rather wolves among the sheep. This is why we are told in scripture to compare everything we learn with scripture, to see if it's true or false. Check out gotquestions.org I think it will be helpful to you and gives scripture for every answer given. @@mack6429 John 6 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” 41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?” 43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. 44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’[d] Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” 52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
@@mack6429 The writer of your article is making a distinction with out a difference. Yep, the same people who denied that Jesus Christ, God in human flesh, did not die and therefore did not rise from the dead are, in fact, the same people who deny that the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, & Divinity of the Risen Savior Jesus Himself. Ignatius is warning Christians of his time do not follow 'wolves in Christian clothing' who deny the Eucharist because they also deny the Divinity of Jesus & the Resurrection of Jesus. As far as the word 'Transubstantiation' not being used by Ignatius; that's because that term was created in the 15th century to describe what Christians already believe, namely that the bread & wine, at the consecration by the priest in mass, become the Body & Blood of Jesus, His Real Presence. Kind of like how you Evangelicals ( and we Catholics too) believe in the Trinity, yet the word "Trinity' is not located anywhere in the Bible. But Christians have always believed in One God in 3 Persons - Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and we see that in the Bible, like here in John 3: 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased".
You didn't put the word of God together. Just printed out the books only. You all act like you made the inspired word of God and MADE SALVATION. SERIOUSLY ridiculous

I am a cradle Catholic but I haven't really realized the full meaning, trust and significance of the Eucharist not until I've start watching Steve Ray, Scott Hahn and other converts like them. I know intellectually that the Eucharist is Jesus himself but not by heart and soul. Now Eucharist presents to me in a very different way that is beyond the senses to describe. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; (Titus 3:5,6)
Really? Why then did He say this in John 6? 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 *I am that bread of life* . 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 *This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die* . 51 *I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world* . 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Jesus said unto them, *Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you* . 54 *Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day* . 55 *For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed* . 56 *He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him* . 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: *so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me* . 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: *he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever* . 59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. And why did St. Paul say this in 1 Cor 11 of the Holy Eucharist? *For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come* .
It is quite a different experience for me to hear converts and apologists from an originally protestant country, where catholicism is not the main religion nor has been the major influence. You have to fight an uphill battle explaining over and over what has been cristal clear for so many years: the teaching of the Church, specially nowadays we have easy access to documents and the Patristic. In Brazil, this fight has been going on for centuries, since the protestants first came under the Dutch and the French, but it was never a real deal up until recently when their numbers swelled due to evangelicalism and prosperity theology. Our real fight was always against a more insidious enemy: the masons and their paganization of institutions, the sincretism, the advance of positivism, modernism and atheist gramsciam socialism trying to destroy the Church from within. So, from an apologist to another: The Peace of Christ! May God guide you and Our Lady protect you under her mantle.
Though the whole video was awesome , the best commentary goes to Rob:basically “He was a guy who knew the guy who wrote the bible” Lololololololololol!!!!!!!❤😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Catholic Church precedes the Bible and gifted us the Bible. You can't have sola scriptura for the first centuries when there was no scriptura to treat as sola.
12:31 is the architecture and design of traditional Catholic Churches inspired by “home churches?” Did Catholic Churches cost a lot of money to build? What was Martin Luther’s main gripe again?
About 32:18, I think there are copious differing positions between Protestants, but many of them do still agree on some things. But there is far too much disunity and confusion among them even still.
Bart is a Atheist. From what I understand, he is not on any protestant or catholic side. He was a baptist that gave up his belief. But he was highly educated in the biblical field.
Interesting to hear from a scholar that the apostles and their tradition (aka examples) are to be identified as the current catholic church and its current tradition. eg. Mary as demi-god, the papal level of religious authority, praying for dead people and to dead saints as an act legitimated by God, changing the text of the original Ten Commandments, infant baptism, faith in miraculously turning bread to flesh and wine to blood during eucharist service, priests as old testament-like mediators between believers and God, forcing clerical to abandon marriage, tolerating gay priests in catholic ranks etc.
Obviously you don’t believe the Bible if you think the Saints are Dead ( Matthew 17:3 ) and you don’t believe Jesus when he said this is my body ( Matthew 26:26 ) . What you think is Christianity is man made traditions started a couple hundred years ago, and does not resemble true Christianity that was practiced in the 1st century. You also repeat lies about the Catholic Church that have been thoroughly disproved many years ago . Your gullibility is very Sad . I will pray to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and ask him to open your eyes to the truth . John 8:32
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 Why gullibility? I know the original text of the Ten Commandments and the distorted version made by the catholic church. I know who catholic priests sprinkle with water and I know catholic people believe they literally drink blood and eat manflesh. I know exactly what many popes brought during their reign - terror and death. Did the apostles really act like them? I believe my open eyes, man and I don't need catholic glasses to cover the obvious! Why don't you pray to Mary straight instead of the Lord and Savior?

You’re right.
I hope Blue Collar Catholic tells him. Maybe also write to him a short message with a catchy subject title, to catch his eye. ❤

Very true. Just watched a lecture from 10 years ago on how to evangelise for the Catholic faith. He wears a crucifix everyone can see. Occasionally he gets asked about it. It's something we can all do though it requires a certain amount of courage.
As cradle Catholic i Praise the Lord for seeing such commitment from you guys. May almighty God bless you Rob and Steve abundantly.
The New Testament is not 27 books. The New Testament is the Eucharist. WOW. Mind blown!
Hebrews 9:15
Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant.
Jesus became "the mediator of a new covenant" when he said "this is my blood of the covenant," but this was only possible "because a death has occurred." This proves that while Jesus had indeed finished his sacrifice on the cross, he had actually already "established" it during the Last Supper by stating "this is my blood of the [new] covenant!" Thus, without physically dying he had nevertheless "established" his death:
Hebrews 9:16-17 For where a covenant is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive.

I appreciate you bringing Mr. Ray on. I love his work. He is a blessing to Mother Church. I would love to go on one of his pilgrimage some day. God bless you both.
There are too many churches in the world but only one is the original...

John 6 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”
43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
But Christians have always believed in One God in 3 Persons - Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and we see that in the Bible, like here in
John 3: 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.

I have a friend who constantly posts stuff on Facebook about how the Gospel was "lost" and the Protestants "rediscovered " it. Drives me crazy!
Lol I know what you mean
Those People just protray their doctrine by void slogans like parrots (same as commercial advertising). Just scratch it and you'll find nothing laying underneath. It's like shouting a loud in a crowded field to get noticed. That's why they hate serious study of the history of the Church and the Christianity.
The Question I would pose is what they mean by the gospel?
Which Protestants are they talking about? There’s so much of them and they all say something different
Something went wrong for God to have to send the reformation to get His word the way He wanted it.
The Catholic converts are giving the cradle Catholics a shot in the arm.
As a cradle Catholic myself, I agree. Both converts and reverts have great desire for truth and their journeys are inspiring!

One only needs to receive Christ once, not a weekly booster. What good was His death on the cross if all we had to do was eat Him once a week.
We confirm the Truth to the prodigal children, we are not required to convince them
Most Protestants are prejudiced and ignorant of Catholicism.
@@sammygomes7381 You misunderstand catholicism entirely Sammy. you couldn't be further from truth of understanding .

Great video
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Catholic Church precedes the Bible and gifted us the Bible. You can't have sola scriptura for the first centuries when there was no scriptura to treat as sola.
Greetings shipmate
12:31 is the architecture and design of traditional Catholic Churches inspired by “home churches?” Did Catholic Churches cost a lot of money to build? What was Martin Luther’s main gripe again?
Protestants say "Church" means the body of believers, so that's how they get around a lot of the Catholic claims.
Yes that’s what I used to say . Until I studied Church history.
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 I'm still a Protestant but searching.

🔎Look even Jewish have traditions
Mishna is the first major written collection of the Jewish oral traditions which is known as the Oral Torah.
Mysterious rocks!!!
About 32:18, I think there are copious differing positions between Protestants, but many of them do still agree on some things. But there is far too much disunity and confusion among them even still.
I wish Steve ray n Tim staples would debate Bart Ehrman man
Bart is a Atheist.
It's been in the catholic version of bible since the synode of Trient. Or I know that the catholic church employs many gay priests and enforces celibacy.
Your questions are equivalent to what’s the color yellow smell like ? I’ve addressed these myths ( that I also believed before I researched ) in many videos. When I finish working today I’ll post them in this thread .
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 Happy to wait. Please note: gay priests, holy inquisition, crusades, galactical wealth of the Vatican, celibacy, papal decrees etc. are not myths. They are reality on earth made by men that blindly believed they made sacrifice for God by them. They were and are part of Roman Catholicism. Sorry if facts hurt you.
@@rivoendre Cite one source that says that Mary became a demi-god.
(36:17) Steve Ray mentions the Council of Jamnia. It seems that this council was a myth created in the 1800s. Perhaps he later learned this point.
That's true but this was where the protestants argument came from
Is Israel requiring the vax to go there or to eat inside or museums?
I can see why there is a problem with the Eucharist, too many people getting it in the hand for a start.
That's how the Apostles and every Christian received it for the first 900 years of the Church. That's the Traditional way.
