Personally I had the opposite experience, the Ashe on my team lost lane, and tower, rotated top, and then I rotated bot while they took our first tower top, with all the plates.
Hello guys, i need help. Im new at toplane, playing garen but there is one champion im completely struggling with and its darius. Any tips how to play against Darius as Garen?
Play for your phase rush, always go PR. Your trade pattern should be auto into your E and Q while inside of your E, when you finish spinning you hit your Q and run, denies him the re-engage from his E. Out sustain and only trade when PR is up. I personally always rush swifties into the Darius matchup, and honestly you’ll get the hang of it the more you play it. With Darius it’s just a mental game.
Not enough healing from just bork to make it worth it. His healing mainly comes from killing minions so he wont really be able to heal alot in lategame teamfights where I would have mortal reminder. So I just bought ldr which is cheaper and gives more damage.
Going stride each game no matter matchup looks like autopiloting to me. Both black cleaver and spear of soujin would perform better vs laning vs chogath
Sure if you wanna win lane, go ahead and build those items. But if you wanna win the game, building around killing his team and getting around Garens weakness (mobility, he got 0 dashes as a bruiser/assassin in season 14) is the way to go. Also did you see when the laning vs chogath stopped? Not much point in building vs him if I dont play va him :)

cho didnt get gapped in lane but got gapped in midgame and certainly in teamfights lol he sold those so hard. always showed up late, never in position

Play for short trades, as darius hard wins extended ones due to his passive.
2-3 short trades/rotations usually gets him within r range early game

In that case, try to start trades with e, saving q for escape/preventing his e with silence
