Virginia Beach is usually a great first ice location, but not the past 2 years. This year pretty big pressure crack there near shore, and pretty thin ice. The operator out of there posted they have officially cancelled the season and won't be operating again this year. There was also an incident over the weekend off Duclos Point there and one person didn't survive unfortunately. I can definitely see why the area is empty.
