Well at least Joel Schumacher has apologized many fans and the critics for ruining the franchise when Batman and Robin became the worst movie of all time. He decided to release the DVD edition of the movie as the apology gift.
Arnold saved that movie. I was one of the rare people that didn’t see it as a kid, so watching it for the first time as an adult, all I could see was how much fun he had in the role. His puns made the movie bearable.

Makes me glad the late Irvin Kirschner, the late Richard Marquaad and Steven Spielberg worked with George in directing the actors in the original Star Wars sequels and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Imagine how awkward some poignant scenes like Han and Leia’s romance and Luke and his father’s interactions in Return of the Jedi and Indy and characters’ talk regarding the Ark of the Covenant would’ve been if Lucas remained in the Director’s chair.

I think Hayden Chrsitensen was a great choice for a younger Anakin. You gotta remember he was a child. A young teen dealing with mountains of trauma and stress. When you put it into context I mean it's easy to see someone being a little more whiny about their situation, especially giving they weren't raised under normal circumstances.

4:12 I love how they poked fun at his lack of a British accent in “Prince of Thieves” in the Mel Brooks spoof “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”. Cary Elwes (who actually is English) says as Robin, “Unlike some other Robin Hoods, *I* can speak with an English accent!” Not only was this a reference to Kevin Costner’s performance in “Prince of Thieves”, but it was also a reference to past Robin Hoods played by non-English actors, most notably Douglas Fairbanks (who was from Colorado, although his run as Robin Hood came during the silent film era) and Errol Flynn (who was from Australia). “Men in Tights” is such an underrated movie in Mel Brook’s filmography, but it does such a wonderful job poking fun at both “Prince of Thieves” as well as the whole Robin Hood legend in general. It’s got a similar vibe to “Spaceballs”.

The Johansson one at least did make some sense, which was explained in the movie. It was a part of the theft of Makoto's identity. The movie as a whole is vastly inferior to the anime films, however, I think that casting issue is a minor one.

I always thought that Sir Patrick Stewart would have been a PERFECT Live-Action Mr. Freeze. I just know that with a good script and lack of Ice Puns, he'll nail it as the Sub-Zero Villain.
Take Hayden Christensen off this list NOW. The prequels were summed up by their awful writing and Obi-Wan further proved this. Go watch episodes 3 and 6 of Obi-Wan and tell me that Hayden wasn’t spine chillingly good as Anakin this go around. “I am not your failure Obi-Wan. You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.” CHILLS at Hayden making that delivery. It was perfect.
@@Blueberryyymuffin I think it heavily depends on the genration u grew up in. I grew up watching Steve Martin in Pink Panther, I adore and love him in both movies, tbf i didn't know there was an earlier version until watching this vid.
@@theo_kay_official i was born in 1995 and thought Steve Martin’s was the only one too. One time as a kid we got the crappy peter sellers pink panther movie (the one that was made from clips after he died) from the library, and I thought it was boring and made no sense. Years later I watched the originals from the beginning and they became my favourites.
I recommend watching A Shot in the Dark first though, since the first Pink Panther doesn’t have Inspector Clouseau in the most prominent role. And A Shot in the Dark introduces all the other characters, even if it technically isn’t a pink panther film
I used to hate against Hayden Christensen's Anakin performance - now I think I was wrong. Dialogue was pretty bad at times and there where also some pacing problems, but that wasn't really his fault.
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze was, in my opinion, a good casting choice. We've seen Arnold take on a role like Freeze in the past: a cold-hearted villain who will stop at nothing to accomplish his goal. I think the reason why he was bad was because how he was told to be a comedic villain with a ton of ice puns. If Arnold played Freeze in a more grittier batman movie, then je would be amazing, but since WB wanted the film to attract kids, he had to be act like a villain you would find in a show for kids.
The Topher Grace Brock/Venom was mindboggling. How tf do you miss the mark and shit on the source material that badly? Especially with one of the most loved anti-heroes/villains in Marvel
I feel like most of these are not poor castings but however poor writing. I guarantee if you give most of these actors a solid script that matched the character they would knock it out of the park. Just look at the difference with Hayden Christensen from Episode 2 to 3 Or Jared Leto from Suicide Squad to ZSJL Arnold as Mr Freeze is great in scenes that hit the sympathetic beats of the character Jesse Eisenberg was hated on because his character was different from a typical Lex Luther but he still delivered a great performance and made for a great menacing, calculated villain
One of the reasons I still haven’t seen Batman v Superman is because of Jessie E. I just don’t like his punchable face. It makes me angry just to look at him.
Glad to see Keanu Reeves quite high up the list for what he did in Bram Stoker's Dracula. What makes his dismail performance so obvious is that the contrast to almost everything and everybody else in this otherwise terrific movie is so stark. In many movies you can't really say if an actor is miscast or has just been dragged down by bad direction, bad photography, bad co-actors or a silly script. But in this case almost everything around Reeves is of high quality. You have oscar-winning costume design, a great soundtrack, Hollywood's finest actors ecc all surrounding a wooden actor who doesn't even show any facial life sign when Count Dracula does the wierdest stuff right in front of his eyes.
And what's even awkward is that Keanu Reeves's stuck out like a sore thumb in front of other terrific performances such as Gary Oldman and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Don Cheadle came in and made that role his own. He’s great in it, but I have no doubts Terrence Howard could’ve also turned in stellar performances if he was given a the amount of movies he was.
Hayden was great as anakin. I didn’t see it then as a kid but watching it back. Anakin had trauma of being a slave, he had powers he couldn’t fully control as he wasn’t emotionally stable (he unknowingly influenced padme with the force). He needed Qui gon who treated him like a son. Obi wan treated him like a brother but Anakin needed a father figure and Hayden portrayed it brilliantly
15:21 I am really sorry, but I think that Keanu was actually pretty good in portrayal and acting as Klaatu in TDtESS, i could not imagine any other actor play it better. Anyone with me?
I think the other way when it comes to Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze, because no actor could make that role work, he had a blast as Mr Freeze with the one liners because he knew it was a bad role
Terrence Howard was fine, tbh he's a better fit for the MCU than Don Cheadle anyway, he has that wacky non-seriousness about him that suits the comedy vibe. People keep pretending like it was a terrible casting and Cheadle is so much better just because of how everything turned out, heck no
Pink panther 1 and 2 are one my favorite movies. I love Steve Martin's iteration. It was amazing. Everyone who I've shown the movie loved it and laughed the entire time.
It's a shame how things went to Sofia Coppola during The Godfather 3 period. At least I'm glad that she managed to be a brilliant director just like her father!
Speak for yourself. Almost everyone despises his whiny, wooden representation of what should be an epic villain. He was the worst thing about those movies.
Look, absolutely no one could have lived up to Peter Sellers, but Steve Martin was the only man for the job. He’s really good in it I think, in his own way
Jared as Joker was definitely one of the worst casting choices. That’s part of the reason why I didn’t like suicide squad and one reason why the DCEU absolutely sucked. His joker laugh did not sound great and rather forced. It was such a big turnoff.
@@ShadySliver17 well hey you're in the minority, because those were worse to the brand than what Disney did and we got to stop pretending the prequels were good
Completely agree. A lot of people like to focus on one version of a character, which may be a popularized version; but we have different universes within each comic universe. There's even a universe where the joker cuts off his face and then stitches it back on later. And yes, there's a universe where lex Luther has red hair lol. And by the way I didn't think Gean Hackman did a horrible job as lex luthor. You just have to keep in mind that the Christopher Reeves Superman was not meant to be a hardcore serious Superman movie.
Okay if you are including Jared Leto and Jesse Eisenberg, I think Ben affleck deserves to be on the list. The amount of bad casting choices that snyder made are too many. He actually robbed us from having a proper DCEU. Hope James gunn makes it right
Costner not having a British accent did not deter the movie success one bit. Don't know what WM was talking about. Also it has been over 30 years and they have not made a better Robin Hood movie since.
I think they were channelling a stereotypical modern billionaire, instead of a dark domineering evil genius like a Jeff Bezos, they went for a dorky socially inept silicon valley type like Mark Zuckerberg, on crack. Terrible idea.
Now, now... She did have a couple of good roles. Mae Mordabito in "A League of their Own and Breathless Mahoney in Dick Tracy. However after saying that, that's about all she did that was notable so your statement is fairly true.
Hell no, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr a Freeze was fine. The ice puns were overdone, sure, but considering he’s the second person on this list from this movie, you can chalk it up to poor directing. It’s a bad movie all around and not the best performance from everyone there. Arnold was just doing what he’s directed to do. But if you take the character of Mr Freeze people know from the comics and properly apply that to a movie, Arnold would be a perfect choice. A guy that proclaims emotions are frozen dead in him, a very cold personality, very monotone and uncaring for the life of others around him... All Arnold would have had to do is do his Terminator character and dial the ice puns back about 80%. As it stands, he at least did the scenes of Mr. Freeze mourning his wife pretty well. I have always stood by the thought that he should get another go as Mr. Freeze if he were ever used in a movie again, but I guess now he might be a bit too old so that time may have passed.
One thing with Mickey Rooney cast as a Japanese man, you have to keep in mind the time period it was in. It was released in 1961, mostly roughly 15 years from world war II. I'm sure there was still that great period of time where the Japanese Americans were not looked at fondly still. I'm sure there are probably not a lot of them floating around Hollywood at the time to be cast.
For at least two of these you can blame other factors, not the actors portraying them. For Arnold as Mr Fries, honestly that was pretty good casting. It's just the script was so silly and laden with puns even the greatest of actors could make it seem good. Also for Hayden as Anakin/Vader, I think you can easily blame Episode VI's ending for that. It was Anakin as a force ghost at the end of the movie which tied the hands since you had to get an actor who looked as close to the actor in 1983 as humanly possible. If they didn't use Vader as a force ghost at the end of VI, they could have used anyone.
I loved Steve Martin in Pink Panther. And I agree with others, most of this was just bad writing and/or directing. Actors work with what they're giving and what they're told. What we see on the screen is what the director approved and said was good
Okay, Anakin was really good as I get older, BUT I really think that it was the script writing that made him sound really bad. In other movies, he’s really good. He was great In that one movie Awake
If I’m correct, didn’t Terrance had some envy toward RDJ with the salary? He was okay playing James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, but he didn’t want to share the screen with anyone else. I wouldn’t say worse casting, but certain things.
From what I recall, at the time Terrance was the bigger star and was promised a certain amount. Once the first Iron man did well, they lowered the amount Terrance was getting to raise the amount RDJ was getting
Yea he made way way more money for the film and then threw a fit when his salary got cut for the sequel so rdj could get paid for what he deserved and ironically Howard was finally getting paid what he was worth(almost nothing).
@@iamNell if I was already super rich it wouldn't bother me at all,now if I was just getting started then no,also though it depends if I really like that person and I think it would really help the movie and them being apart of it would make me a ton more in the long run
@@ericseitzler81 It was thanks to Howard that RDJ got the role in the first place. RDJ had pretty much tanked his career with his antics (and addictions). Howard convinced the studio to give him a chance. Seems pretty reasonable to me to not want to take a pay cut.
I get that Eisenbergs Lex Luthor was supposed to be a take on current billionaires like Elon Musk and Zuckerberg, the way that the comic Luthor reflected moguls of those times. And he got the eccentric frat boy bit down, but forgot the underlying menace, so it came off as too goofy.
Hopefully you eventually do Top 20 best casting choices in the mcu. I feel like the list will include the following RDJ as Tony Stark Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff Tom Holland as Peter Parker
Speaking of Mickey Rooney they had considered him for the role of Archie Bunker in All In The Family before they decided on Caroll O’Connor. Can you imagine the disaster that would have been?
@@marianparoo1544 We definitely would have had a very DIFFERENT type of Archie Bunker. A parallel universe type of thing. Like when they were considering George “Goober” Lindsey for the part of Mr Spock in lieu of Leonard Nimoy. EXTREME parallel universe.

I loved Steve Martin as Jacques Clouseau... And I love both the movies with him as Clouseau in Pink panther 1 & 2...
Not as good as Sellers though
@@Blueberryyymuffin I think it heavily depends on the genration u grew up in. I grew up watching Steve Martin in Pink Panther, I adore and love him in both movies, tbf i didn't know there was an earlier version until watching this vid.
@@theo_kay_official i was born in 1995 and thought Steve Martin’s was the only one too. One time as a kid we got the crappy peter sellers pink panther movie (the one that was made from clips after he died) from the library, and I thought it was boring and made no sense. Years later I watched the originals from the beginning and they became my favourites.
You gotta watch them. They’re so good
I recommend watching A Shot in the Dark first though, since the first Pink Panther doesn’t have Inspector Clouseau in the most prominent role. And A Shot in the Dark introduces all the other characters, even if it technically isn’t a pink panther film
Hayden’s performance as anakin isn’t bad I don’t care what they say
I used to hate against Hayden Christensen's Anakin performance - now I think I was wrong. Dialogue was pretty bad at times and there where also some pacing problems, but that wasn't really his fault.
The choice for Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was damn near Criminal
Michael Keaton is my Batman
He was a really good Batman, for sure
There will never be any substitute for Kevin Conroy.
I’ve never seen Alexander but I literally started to burst out laughing from the few moments of shown in this video.
The hissing and the slapping got me weak af
I feel like Jessie Eisenberg could make a good riddler
Very true because the riddler is arrogant and very bipolar
Exactly!
He reminded me of Jim Carrey's Riddler.
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze is comedy gold though.
I agree
Wasnt it supposed to be? I loved it
And how does he smoke a cigar?
Honestly, who would've done a better job in the context of that film?
So bad it's good.
The Topher Grace Brock/Venom was mindboggling. How tf do you miss the mark and shit on the source material that badly? Especially with one of the most loved anti-heroes/villains in Marvel
Because Venom was NEVER supposed to be in that movie at all. But the studio forced Raimi to put him in when the movie was almost finished already.
I feel like most of these are not poor castings but however poor writing. I guarantee if you give most of these actors a solid script that matched the character they would knock it out of the park.
Just look at the difference with Hayden Christensen from Episode 2 to 3
Or Jared Leto from Suicide Squad to ZSJL
Arnold as Mr Freeze is great in scenes that hit the sympathetic beats of the character
Jesse Eisenberg was hated on because his character was different from a typical Lex Luther but he still delivered a great performance and made for a great menacing, calculated villain
Jared Leto is bad....there's no writing good or bad to save that man
Literally all the other actors were fine for the shit writing, NOBODY wanted Leto
One of the reasons I still haven’t seen Batman v Superman is because of Jessie E. I just don’t like his punchable face. It makes me angry just to look at him.
Gene Hackman is the definitive Lex Luthor.
People: “Hayden was whiny and angsty as Anakin”
George who intended that: 😑
I agree. The way he was played reinforced him turning to the dark side and becoming Darth Vader.
Let’s face it, Don Cheadle does an awesome job as War Machine
Agreed. I felt Terrence was trying too hard and wound up being unforgettable
Not really. Terrance was the better actor for that role than Don Cheadle.
Don Cheadle came in and made that role his own. He’s great in it, but I have no doubts Terrence Howard could’ve also turned in stellar performances if he was given a the amount of movies he was.
And the recasting of War Machine with Don Cheadle replacing Terence Howard all work for the best.
@@ajpat9620 oh yeah
Hayden was great as anakin. I didn’t see it then as a kid but watching it back. Anakin had trauma of being a slave, he had powers he couldn’t fully control as he wasn’t emotionally stable (he unknowingly influenced padme with the force). He needed Qui gon who treated him like a son. Obi wan treated him like a brother but Anakin needed a father figure and Hayden portrayed it brilliantly
Except for him being a total creep in AOTC. How many times does he give that stupid glare like he's about to rape Padme?
Albeit accidentally lol
Napkin skywalker
The only Lex I really liked in live-action was Smallville. I felt he captured the look and personality so well, and he really made Lex likeable.
I liked Gene Hackman.
His Lex Luther wears a wig, so he is actually bald.
Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor in the Animated DCU) is the perfect Luthor. He is as good as Luthor as Kevin Conroy was as Batman/Bruce Wayne.
Hayden Christensen on this list is a bit unfair yo. George Lucas directed him to act like that yo.

I am really sorry, but I think that Keanu was actually pretty good in portrayal and acting as Klaatu in TDtESS, i could not imagine any other actor play it better. Anyone with me?
Watch the original with Michael Rennie then decide...
I think the other way when it comes to Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze, because no actor could make that role work, he had a blast as Mr Freeze with the one liners because he knew it was a bad role
Plus, he really did know the heart of the character. In the quiet moments, he really did show the depths of the character.
Honestly, Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau was the best part in the Pink Panther reboot and it's sequel.
I will stand by that.
Same. The comedy wouldn't have worked if Steve Martin wasn't involved.
I liked Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman!
you only liked her 2 personalities!
The only reason to cast her in a movie is for eye candy and you got her playing invisible??that girl can not act to save her life.
@@ericseitzler81 the best thing she ever did as an entertainer was to use the monies made from her eye candy it girl days to open her business though!
@@ericseitzler81 yep
Sue Storm was a Mexican?
Terrence Howard was fine, tbh he's a better fit for the MCU than Don Cheadle anyway, he has that wacky non-seriousness about him that suits the comedy vibe. People keep pretending like it was a terrible casting and Cheadle is so much better just because of how everything turned out, heck no
Terence Howard only left the role of War Machine due to a salary dispute with Marvel.
Honorable mentions:
Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster (Black Widow)
Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn (The Amazing Spider-Man 2)
Dane DeHaan was fine as Harry Osborne
Surpised Scarlett Johansson in 'Ghost In The Shell ' didn't make the list .
Am I the only one who loved Steve Martin in the Pink Panther? 😂😭
Loved it! That movie specifically got me through residential treatment
Im more pissed off the Pink Panther doesnt show up. Why the fuck is it called the Pink Panther if it doenst contain the character?!
I liked him!
One of my favorite movies hands down. Watch it everytime they are on TV. My go to movies when on a date.
@@PhenomsServant4 You DO know that the Pink Panther was originally a diamond?
Pink panther 1 and 2 are one my favorite movies. I love Steve Martin's iteration. It was amazing. Everyone who I've shown the movie loved it and laughed the entire time.
It's a shame how things went to Sofia Coppola during The Godfather 3 period. At least I'm glad that she managed to be a brilliant director just like her father!
Winona Ryder would have been magnificent in the role. Too bad she had to drop out due to exhaustion.
Hayden Christensen played the role exactly how he was instructed by George Lucas, if you don’t like his character, that’s not Christensen’s fault.
It’s funny that as trash as supergirl is the lex Luther is probably the greatest we’ve ever gotten
You can now add Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon to this list!!!! What the hell was Scott thinking.
It’s 2022. Hayden is Anakin and we love him for it. Let it go Watchmojo
I agree. It’s not Hayden’s fault, I blame that shit entirely on Lucas. Let go of the hate already.
Try telling that to Nostalgia Critic
mojo always gets it wrong, good effort for tryin
Speak for yourself. Almost everyone despises his whiny, wooden representation of what should be an epic villain. He was the worst thing about those movies.
I'm sorry, but having Arnold as Mr. Freeze is one of the greatest casting decisions of all time!
All I see Topher as is Eric in that 70s show.
Look, absolutely no one could have lived up to Peter Sellers, but Steve Martin was the only man for the job. He’s really good in it I think, in his own way
Wait what the hell was wrong with Kevin Costner as Robin Hood?
He wasn't British
How much time do you have. To put it simply, the wooden statue outacted costner hands down!
Jared as Joker was definitely one of the worst casting choices. That’s part of the reason why I didn’t like suicide squad and one reason why the DCEU absolutely sucked.
His joker laugh did not sound great and rather forced. It was such a big turnoff.
Missed a really big one - Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese in Terminator Genisys. Horrendous.
I'd also put him down as Jack McLane in A Good Day to Die Hard because I didn't like him in that movie either.
@@Xayjohns he was fine in that movie. The movie it self was just not good

Might not like tattooed Joker, but it does exist in the comics. So does Lex Luthor with red hair
Hope James gunn makes it right
Robin Hood was a good movie. Kevin Costner was good. What do you want?
Yeah, I agree.
Most of the people at WatchMojo have rocks for brains.
Costner not having a British accent did not deter the movie success one bit. Don't know what WM was talking about. Also it has been over 30 years and they have not made a better Robin Hood movie since.
I’m surprised that vince Vaughn as Norman Bates from Psycho 1998 is not as the number 1

I think they were channelling a stereotypical modern billionaire, instead of a dark domineering evil genius like a Jeff Bezos, they went for a dorky socially inept silicon valley type like Mark Zuckerberg, on crack. Terrible idea.
I am amazed that Eisenberg is still getting roles 😂😂
How about every role played by Madonna?
In Teahouse of the August Moon, Brando was so good that he actually acted short.
Wait. You're saying Madonna would not have ruined the Godfather series?? Are you kidding me??? She is one of the worst actresses out there!
Arnie as Mr. Freeze was the only entertaining part of that wreck.
What killed the dinosaurs? THE ICE AGE!!
I loved Uma as Poison Ivy!
Tom Cruise in Valkyre belongs on list. Everybody else does German accent except him
Better he did it that way then to have such a bad accent that it distracts you from the film.
@@ericseitzler81 exactly why he shouldn't have been cast, tons of other actors out there
But they wouldn't have had a German accent, they would have spoken German....😉

I loved Steve Martin in Pink Panther. And I agree with others, most of this was just bad writing and/or directing. Actors work with what they're giving and what they're told. What we see on the screen is what the director approved and said was good
Me too.....
I agree. I liked Steve Martin's take on Inspector Closseu. The Pink panther isn't a perfect movie but it has some really good comedy.
Eisenberg feels more like the Riddler than Luthor
Okay, Anakin was really good as I get older, BUT I really think that it was the script writing that made him sound really bad. In other movies, he’s really good. He was great In that one movie Awake
I prefer Tom Hardy over Topher Grace as Venom

WOAH! Kevin Costner for Robin Hood was _inspired_ I think that whole movie was brilliant.
Batman and Robin was so cringe which makes Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Forever even better.

Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff
Tom Holland as Peter Parker
Josh Brolin as Thanos. He was so good he stole infinity war from the heroes and made it his own movie.
