Who says they aren't critically thinking? You have got to be able to some real mental gymnastics to come up with reasons for the hows and whys. And if you confront people, that's exactly what they'll do.
Because more to the point, *humans are not rational* They never have been, they never will be, and any person who claims they are always 100% rational is lying.

You know something is wrong when I can't tell the difference between joke comments on these people and actual statements about them
Satire is an historic form of political humor. It's been around for a long, long time. Google Jonathan Swift's essay "A Modest Proposal" from 1729, in which the English satirist suggests solving the problem of Irish poverty by eating their children. The point is that the reality has to be far enough removed from the humor that the humor is funny. The closer the reality is, the less funny the attempt at humor. Swift's essay would not have been funny at all if English landlords had actually been eating Irish children. And, as you point out correctly, these Q folks are so unreal and over the top that it's very hard for comedians like Samantha Bee to make satire funny. That's a sad commentary on our times.
Or Samantha Bee just isn't that funny without the canned audience laughter backing her up.

@@chesterwilberforce9832 I've never watched her ads, but I did hear that most of them end with a gunshot. It's like her jingle. So it may be a case of an unintended juxtaposition more than some kind of overt statement. Not really looking to stick up for Boebert, but there are degrees of bad, and this one may be slightly overblown.
I’ve actually done work with adult trafficking victims and the whole Q-Anon thing pisses me off. It’s just middle class virtue signaling so that they don’t have to deal with the realities of the situation. You know who has a huge issue with human trafficking? Utah. Plenty of Conservatives and likely Q-Anon supporters there but those weren’t the people who showed up for the ones actually affected. Have fun with your Instagram tag while the “liberal snowflakes” and “heathens” take time to actually hear the stories of victims and make efforts to raise awareness about it, sometimes at risk to their own safety. Good for you.

Or, stop quashing it in the first place! In my experience most kids ask Why about everything. Let’s start answering their questions. Let’s encourage their natural curiosity. School should be more than child care and crowd control.
But people who ask questions will want answers... why can’t I feed my family? Why is healthcare so expensive? How do they expect me to live on 7.25 an hour.
Anywhere there is a Republican in charge of school, the school's will be underfunded, the curriculum will be of poor quality, and the people running them will be mediocre at best but typically will be absolutely horrible. Check out what the students say about the school and ask for details. Then ask the teachers, and then the administration. M
Make the adults give you strait answers then ask why. Don't let them bully you. I know how my school in California was and many school's in Oklahoma were and are now. The wealthy lived in my town in CA and the education was excellent! The school's in Oklahoma that I went to after we moved were so bad that the education I got in elementary school in California was equal to 8th and 9th grade in Oklahoma. In all the school's I went to.

I don't see how we can ever fix this, it has taken decades for these peoples stupidity to develop, I work with these people, I live with these people, I have no hope for our future as a country. It seems obvious to me that QAnon was carefully designed by some one to hit the buttons of certain groups of people and that it is being actively managed behind the scenes to intensify a feedback loop that keeps the followers hooked. It has been compared to an alternate reality game but the people playing don’t realize it is a game. My guess would be that it is probably a Russian operation.

Storytime! I was raised in a quazi cult-religion-thing (Seventh-day Adventism). I had mostly gotten away from it in my 30s, but still decided (about 14 years ago) to try going to one of their Universities. They required me to take a "History of Seventh-day Adventism." On day 1, about 5 of us students showed up and we were asked to introduce ourselves. I went last, and finished my introduction with, "...and no religion owns me." LOL! I got kicked out for that immediately! I only wish I'd thought of that decades before 😂😂😂😂😂

The strategy of these recruitment campaigns can be summed in two words: information laundering.
It's like money laundering, but with information. Take fraudulent information, then use a "legitimate outlet" as a front to pass it off as genuine. The social media click bait those recruits fell for is not a very sophisticated front though. I really question the judgement of people who bought a story that "fell of the back of a truck."

A few years ago, I didn't even know what Qanon was.
The QAnon nonsense didn't start until October of 2017 and its early iterations were mostly confined to fringe message boards like 4chan then later 8chan/8kun when it got kicked off there. It was around the 2018 midterm elections that it started getting mainstreamed into the Republican hard right, but it wasn't until 2020 that it really exploded on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
I can see people my age and older being taken in by Qanon but not you young people. You guys should've seen this scam coming.
