I lost my dad to a cult. Haven’t spoken to him in years. Will probably never talk To him again. It sucks, but parents are humans, and when they put their crazy beliefs over their children, you have to cut them loose
@@billithekat1088 it’s a bummer, unfortunately. I think one of the big problems is that people who say and believe and follow in these crazy things are so insulated from consequences for so long, they get too deep before there’s any backlash. My dad lost his job, his wife, his house, relocated to the other side of the country and is STILL in it.
When the children are "disappointed" with their parents, the world really has turned on it's head. I would die of shame if my kids thought that way about me.
@@bloodiedporcelain6320 He's just trying to discredit her and her personal story by dehumanizing her as this left-wing government shill. There's no reasoning with people like that.
And yet, a lot of children have asked and are still asking that question. My father condoned not speaking to me for years, because the bible said so. The bible is for people who can’t think for themselves.
That's not fair, usurper Joe would have to get out of adult diapers AND have someone to show him where to pee. I'm sure he would piss on your head if he had his faculties though - his half-century of government service proves that without a doubt.
@@drttgb4955 I didn’t say so and your question has nothing to do with what I wrote: in asking it you have already shown a tendency to interpret things in partisan terms. The cults which had people worried in the 60s and 70s were largely non-political-and the people worried were not confined to any narrow part of the political spectrum. But, as you have asked, I consider BLM and antifa to be _less_ cultic than QAnon.
@@drttgb4955 Antifa believes that fascism and authoritarianism are bad forms of government, and we should protect our democracy from it. The Antifa movement does not have a single leader that instructs its believers, nor does it promote harming or killing specific people. BLM believes that black people's lives matter just as much as everyone else's lives, and that society should not treat them as if they were expendable by allowing them to be shot willy-nilly for holding cell phones, or jogging, or sleeping in their own beds. BLM does not have a specific leader who they revere and follow to the ends of the earth, nor does their movement promote hurting or killing certain groups of people; in fact, they are promoting saving lives, not killing enemies. QAnon, on the other hand, believes that a vague group of "Elites" and "Democrats" is feasting on the blood of children so they can have power over the rest of us, and that only one man can save us from their wrath.... This is cultish behavior. And when a member of the Conservative crew dares to make any objections or criticism of the movement, they are publicly shamed and expelled, and quickly added to the list of enemies. This is cultish behavior. QAnon believers follow a specific person like a deity, so much that they are willing to cast aside their children and isolate themselves from the rest of the world, all as a worthy sacrifice to their leader. This is cultish behavior. Listening to one man over the rest of society, and following him even when he promotes hurting other people on his behalf, often calling them out by name as targets... Is that not cultish behavior?
My mother is in the same situation and I find myself not feeling hate towards her, but rather a crushing sadness. She raised me to be better than this so it breaks my heart to see her fall prey to this soulless hive mind.
the first woman also reminds me a little of my people: raised by narcissists (the mother with the youtube channel seems a case of that, since they thrive both in religious organizations and conspiracy theories groups, where they tend to lead copious amounts of very gullible people and get their supply of blind admiration and attention)
I know you don't know me, but thank you for acknowledging the comparison. I'm so grateful my mother was not socially aware enough to fall into this level of conspiracy during my own childhood. She was an avid consumer of The National Enquirer, so it's likely things would have been very different if I had been born a decade later than I was. So much of this madness would validate her poor parenting, and support her victimhood.
A lot of the people that get into cults and conspiracies either have mental health issues or develop them over their years of involvement with the cult.

I finally realized that I was not a priority in their lives and made an exit. When my aunts/uncles/cousins would contact me, they told me what my family was saying about me--and of course my family cast themselves as the mystified victims. All I had to do was forward a one-word email from my sister when I had been diagnosed with cancer the year before. It read, "Karma". My parents have since died and no one notified me. I was left out of the obituaries. I have never met my nieces, nephews or siblings' spouses. It stings in the moment, but honestly, it's a small price to pay rather than have to endure their constant venom. Q'Anon = The Epoch Times = Falun Gong. I recognized the modus operandi. In the late 1990s, China started cracking down on Falun Gong in the late 1990s when the cult started spreading similar conspiracies and misinformation about aliens, fake humans, modern medicines , etc., and banned the cult for spreading dangerous beliefs. Falun Gong cried religious prosecution and fled to America, and America welcomed the snakes into its home. The US government then pumped money into Falun Gong, hoping to use the cult to undermine China. Instead, Falun Gong has been using the US taxpayer money to build up its infrastructure and media network inside America. Yet another blowback of the US government.

@@anon21maps For real, the Bible talks all the time about falsely righteous prophets. I'm not a theologian, but I imagine being a monotheistic culture surrounded by polytheistic ones lended itself to a religion that was guarded against people talking god stuff because unlike other polytheistic systems, they can't be absorbed into the pantheon. Yet these people just... walk right into it. American evangelicalism is full of slimy televangelists and false prophets, there's a whole ecosystem of people out there who say they channel God and see the future, and who can do miracles. Lots of people said that it was God's Will that Trump won the election, so clearly he did. Churches with thousands of members saying that there will be miracles to make sure that Trump wins, even after he lost. It's almost like these people don't actually follow their faith and instead see it as a cultural totem that justifies their prejudices or something. Which is crazy, it's not like that ever happened in American history or anything. Imagine how crazy it would be if, like, Christians were burning their holy symbol to show people of a certain skin color that they weren't welcome here. That'd be crazy! Jesus sacrificed himself to absolve all of humanity, how could the symbol of his sacrifice be used as an image of racial intolerance? It's good that never happened. Imagine still belonging to religious traditions that embraced that.
@@anon21maps Like a lot of scientifically minded kids who grew up in the late 90s, I was an edgy Atheist once. After all, there was a big cultural war was over teaching evolution and abiogenesis in school, and I saw religion as getting in the way of education and enlightenment. Then I went to college and learned about how seriously really smart people have taken their faith over centuries, and that it always hasn't been super reactionary or as stupid as the American Evangelical movement was. I stopped being an edgy atheist and started being a sad one. Christianity was one of the only faiths with a message of pacifism baked in. It used to inspire some of the greatest artistic works the world has ever seen. But now, it's used as a bludgeon for violence and inspires Thomas Kinkade paintings. There needs to be a spiritual revival. It shouldn't be this way, faith can inspire great things. But instead it's making old ladies give their social security checks to millionaires and making old men attack the Capitol.

That part! I'm as mistified as the rest of us about how can these people believe in Q - trust every utterance or 'interpreted' statement from him/her (bc the followers are actually their own indoctrinators - they call themselves 'digital soldiers' - they look for clues online to what Q is trying to tell them - so really any thing their own mind comes up with is Q's utterances).....I also couldn't understand how could they blindly trust an unknown, unseen living being - w/o thinking maybe Q is the pedophile cannabil etc (after all, never seen em, how do they know Q's background?!)...but then when I thought about the evangelical piece - it's real easy that they could morph Q into a Jesus extension for themselves (it's like Q is whatever its victims make Q out to be - some Q devotees are religious, others arent)...... But in all this - since it's not a brick&mortar cult - the leader is unknown, unseen - hell, Q could easily be a group of pranksters or one lone loser incel in his mom's basement -- since there's no tangible person like Jim Jones or Rev Sun Yung Moon etc -- and all the devotees still live in their own homes, have their money and possesssions - the part of them being able to be controlled to the suicide end almost every other cult comes to -- I couldn't see it.. BUT -- look what they did already - they've killed their family bonds and relationships - some of them stormed the Capitol - some of them would've gladly executed govt officials that day too. So - yeah -- all this Q has to do is start talking martyr sacrifices by mass suicides -- and this daughter's worst fear is completely reasonable. Scary stuff....
She should say that because unfortunately that is the reality. And they will take their loved ones with them if it means being saved! Some guy just told us about his mom who fled to the woods because she thought Biden was coming after her. She had to be rescued and committed. It’s already gone too far.

Yes they were. Delusional fundamentalist people (particularly Evangelical Christians in the American context) have always existed. It's just exacerbated in this case by the existence of the Internet and social media.
What? Your generation is the one that believes in this bullshit. I feel for the kids, it would be so awful seeing your parent slowly devolving into that level of delusional.
People tend to forget that it's okay to be disappointed in our parents as we get older. We're all brought up to believe that our parents are infallible and all knowing, but when we realize that they're just a human as everyone else, it can be bothersome. And as much as they might be disappointed in us as we grow up, it can be hard to realize that we can be disappointed in them too. When we think about removing "toxic" people from our lives, we never think (or want to think) that it might include our parents. And although in some cases it is possible to repair some relationships with mom and dad, to realize it's better to stay away from them can be hard as well. Young people need our support, love and a shoulder to lean on at times like this. Only time will tell how it'll turn out for them, but it's important to stand by their side until then.
Also come next year, we must start uniting people into voting for progressive candidates. The status quo is what led to this incident with QAnon and January 6th.

I divorced my family over 10 years ago. I tried all the strategies NOT to have to resort to that--it finally came down to just requesting that we not discuss these hot-button topics--especially politics. But they refused to respect that, and deliberately would antagonize me with taunting emails & mocking phonecalls. Visits with them were a nightmare.
I have since built my own family, made up of my spouse and others who have had to make similar choices. We spend all of our birthdays and holidays together and even though we may not agree on everything, we can laugh about it and love one another unconditionally. It's the family that I had always dreamed of having--and with all due modesty, the one that we all deserve.

Q has existed since at least the 1600s as QUAKERS in England. It's funny how you people behave as if QUAKERS just woke up last week. Quakers live forever! Jesus is the Truth!
Ridiculous part is all the Q stuff is literally ripped off from a 100yr old book ,same book that Stailn,Hitler, mussolini ,Hamas,Isis and a long list of ppl with essentially a fascist ideolgy took their playbook from ...It's like a script that keeps getting made into a shitty play every few years and it's never funny and will always fail...So while these Q followers are too dumb to know that their belief system is phony right out the gate they are also too dumb to question why this guy who literally knows all the deepest secrets and that thousands of children are been trafficed daily by these evil ppl is giving out this crucial information that could literally stop tomorows shipment of children and end it..Why would 'Q' give out the 'truth' in small bite size clues to solve and be open to interpritation ?...Personally if I was that guy who knew all the real evil dangerous dirt on everyone around me and who was shipping thousands of children from A to B ect...I would literally use the power I'd obviously have if I'm that 'high up' I'm totally allowed to know all this to gather a teeny fraction of evidence enough to go with the credibility of my position and go public on all networks at the same time blow the whole thing up....To #Savethechildren right ? Surely knowing who and where children were been shipped to by the thousand and keeping it quiet makes you no better than the peados..And with all the other information if it was so crucial the nation knew of the corruption satanic elite bollocks why would you not just come out with it with evidence instead of in tiny cryptic bits ? While by pure coincidence generating millions of dollars across conspiracy platforms...
, how is Jesus the truth? Religious people aren't far off the Q people mentally.
Brings tears to hear. This is so sad. The devil is a liar, and people believe him.

There won't be a suicide pact because these Q followers are being robbed blind, they couldn't keep throwing their money away if they were dead.
