Actually from what I heard it is set in an extremely different alternate timeline of the Galaxy that is inspired by Japanese lore. There's a book based on the timeline coming out soon. This is what the publisher's summary says: "A mysterious former Sith wanders the galaxy in this stunning Star Wars tale. An original novel inspired by the world of "The Duel" from the Star Wars Visions [sic] animated anthology. The Jedi are the most loyal servants of the Empire. Two decades ago, Jedi clans clashed in service to feuding lords. Sickened by this endless cycle, a sect of Jedi rebelled, seeking to control their own destiny and claim power in service of no master. They called themselves Sith. The Sith rebellion failed, succumbing to infighting and betrayal, and the once rival lords unified to create an Empire… but even an Empire at peace is not free from violence. Far on the edge of the Outer Rim, one former Sith wanders, accompanied only by a faithful droid and the ghost of a less civilized age. He carries a lightsaber, but claims lineage to no Jedi clan, and pledges allegiance to no lord. Little is known about him, including his name, for he never speaks of his past, nor his regrets. His history is as guarded as the red blade of destruction he carries sheathed at his side. As the galaxy's perpetual cycle of violence continues to interrupt his self-imposed exile, and he is forced to duel an enigmatic bandit claiming the title of Sith, it becomes clear that no amount of wandering will ever let him outpace the specters of his former life."

I thought The Elder was an odd take because all prior star wars lore would suggest that with age comes experience and makes people more powerful in the force. All of the strongest force users have all demonstrated that their age brought them a stronger connection to the force and with it more power (Yoda, Palpatine, Mace Windu, Dooku, Obi-Wan, etc...). While it is true that age eventually catches up to everyone at some point, the idea that your physical abilities somehow dictate your force abilities is completely contrary to everything Star Wars has shown us previously.
Yea but those are a few exceptions. The dark side of the force wears and tears the body apart. Look at darth sudious the dark side has virtually destroyed his body, but he adapted better than the elder. Wouldn’t you agree?
I think the point is that you will die eventually no matter how powerful you become and that because of that, power is meaningless it's a nice counter to sith teachings that teaches you that becoming as powerful as possible is your most important goal.
Also the sith from before Bane took power and purged them were laughably weak and their education flawed and stagnated. Also the darkside is known to severely warp the minds of those with the lack of will to control it. This would mean the old man was so consumed with his quest to prove his ability to kill that he never learned to understand the higher mysteries of the force and killed just to kill.
I think the idea isn't that physical abilities dictate your Force abilities but rather no matter how powerful you become you still cannot overcome the limits of old age completely and younger person can exhaust your body even if they're not quite as powerful in the Force as you are.

I didn't see this episode but now you interest me to go watch them. I'm a big fan of Manga and Anime I thought Disney just use the anime style but now do I know that actual people that work on anime worked on it I probably go watch it.
Well done
The Duel is waaaayyy before the empire. The Ronin is the first sith in the legends lore.
I straight up coomed when ronin pulled out his red light saber
This series is great
the only problem I have is that there are to many lightsabers and force connection, Star Wars isnt only about the jedi and sith
A recommendation for quality purposes: timestamps in the description or comments
I liked episode 1 the most. It was creative.
The duel isn’t even anywhere close to canon. They released comic/manga for this. I recommend reading it
All of these timelines don't match up with Canon or legends at all.
Disney plus definitely didn't do their research and check with creator George Lucas about matching timelines.
Episodes 3s meaning: Because Trigger!
What if imperial ships appear above the curve of pokéworld?
Should that scenario be in the next season?
The duel is not actually based in the connon timeline and is set in its own setting based in a more ancient Japen setting.
Like the Jedi are warriors serving an Empire and teh Sith are on the run and hiding out in teh outer rim after getting crushed in a civil war
And people say this series doesn't fit within the Star wars cannon.
Does anyone know why the final episode had a bad ending?
To-B1 Obi wan?
Artoo was the most vulgar character in starwars ever are you kidding?! lol.
I thought these weren't canon? I like vision some are better than the others. From what I seen some people are mixed on it and I get some people aren't into anime.
There's been a lotta great dubs
Karri is the Girl and Aim is the Boy
This some spiritual shit
Your placements of the episodes are odd, they're most likely in alternate timelines
This commentary has made me want to check this out, Star Wars was dead to me, it’s hard to feel anything for star wars .
how are you, ben? is everything at least a bit okay again?
Doing really well, thanks for asking!
Weird how there are a lot of Japan Planets in the Galaxy - what are the chances?
Well, galaxies are very large places.
TOB1 = ASTRO BOY
I was so ready to hate this show I’m shocked I love it so far I might watch it
Village bride for me, nothing makes me as hallow as it did with Vision Bride. It really describe what a Jedi should really look like. Peacekeeper, guardian, village bride did it best for me.
Iron knights ?
I like it
wait. is it canon?
No
@@nobleman9393 ok. making sure.
@@nobleman9393 One can argue that if an official IP holder produces something, it’s automatically canon, regardless of what they claim…
@Darth Revan got it. so what part of star wars has that?
hi
best episode: 1
worst: 3
Jesus Christ, just let Star wars go.
Things have to End.
Everything in this life has to come to an END.
Why are keep refering them as "post empire" or others?they are not canon
44th
Do U know what you are talking about?
I think Star Wars Visions is Disney and Lucasfilm getting very desperate. They are looking for anything new that they can make money on but they don't want to give up on SJW politics.
Fu@k social commentary make fun anime.
Episode 7 was the only good one… outside of that a lot of trash.
Finna hard pass on this shit
Didn't enjoy Visions.
Meh 😑 I don't like Star Wars going anime... First 🥇 & wish for Star Wars What If scenarios like Earth 🌎🌍 in Star Wars.
Also sequels are SNAFU sxxx
Better than the sequels
@@addisonchow9798 to me only slightly...
Its better than any of the animated star wars series at least
@@traphimawari7760 explain.
@@addisonchow9798 well for starters it ain't cheap cgi so thats one thing, second of all most who are new to star wars have difficulty getting into them with the complicated stories with plenty of plot holes and back to my first point the unappealing cgi, for someone who is new to star wars they would find this easier to understand considering they aren't even canon, they are spin off series, like how gundam 00, seed, and age are from a separated universe from the original gundam franchise, and btw Im using gundam as reference since it was similarly attributed to and described as a star wars of anime except with mechs and 10x more war crimes
Visions is kind of feminist garbage propaganda, but it's amazing to say the least.
How is it a feminist propaganda?
How is it feminist? Are you scared of women?
and i thought i was having a drug fueled fever dream when i watched visions
I did to I just don't think visions did it tho.
Palpatine tend to forget how individualistic Siths can be. Visions prove that there are more ways to explore the Star wars universe without having to center it with the Skywalkers.
chibi boba fett will still disintegrate you
