There may be more going on with some of us in our physical brains esp people like me born addicted to drugs and a lot of mental issues. Then added drugs and alcohol and sexual abuse as a child. I wish I could admit I’m healed but I have prayed and realized now being saved 15 years I am still suffering from many mental things.

I started struggling with anxiety, OCD and panic attacks out of the blue last October. Did not see it coming. Still don't know how it all unfolded so quickly. But I've been struggling with mental health since. People told me to pray my way out, which caused soooo much hurt - screaming out to God in my car, begging for miraculous healing in some way. Ended up on a light SSRI, and short term benzodiazepine use, to give me the space to start approaching this with a balanced Christian therapist and the support of medication. I had never struggled with mental health before. But sometimes you need to seek help before you're able to recognise, challenge, and change thoughts.

It was harder to come out to my religious community as being mentally ill then it was for me to admit I was a recovering addict. I guess some people mean well, but can really (as you report) be very critical and judgmental. Stay strong!

I have prayed for years for God to heal my depression and severe panic disorder and it has at times shaken my faith. I find Paul's "thorn" to be a comfort bc he had to carry something throughout his life and still trusted the Lord and loved him more than life. I think about that every day and it's only crying out to Jesus that i have made it this far and what keeps me going when it feels impossible

I've struggled with depression for years, with the occasional anxiety and panic attacks thrown in. I tried doing all the "right" things, but nothing ever worked. Even praying and begging Jesus to comfort me and give me peace and heal me didn't seem like it changed anything. But lately, in the last few weeks, I really have been feeling so much peace. Everything truly is in God's timing.

I just recently came out of an addiction and back to Christ. I spoke with my parents about it, via a letter and I am terrified....for their response. I couldn't verbally have this conversation because of anxiety. I was crying last night worrying that they would be disappointed in me or ashamed. I also apologized to my dad about some things I said in the past, things that hurt him and needed to make amends. The silence...is so loud and I am gonna call him this evening when I see he is home from work.. I can't stand a whole week.

    • @Njuere
      @Njuere 4 дня назад +2

      Hello,
Freedom from addiction and coming to Christ is a testimony worth celebrating, and we give God all the glory! It’s truly commendable that you want to tell your parents and apologize for past wrongs. God sees your heart, and He is pleased with your honesty and courage.
      Remember what Philippians 4:6-7 says:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
So, follow what scripture says-talk to God first, before calling your dad. Thank Him for giving you the boldness to tell the truth. Pray that He softens your father’s heart and that He gives you peace about everything else on your mind.
I once wrote my dad a letter, after getting saved, confessing how I had deceived him about money. I was anxious about how he would respond. After praying, I found peace, and to my surprise, instead of losing trust, my dad actually entrusted me with even more than before.
Cheer up! No matter how things unfold, trust that God is working everything out for good, even if the results aren’t immediate. Let me know how it goes (click bio). I pray God gives you peace.🙏

Thank you for talking about this, I went through panic attacks and migraines with them for 3 months and God warned me something was about to happen before it did. The worst thing is when you go to people including doctors for help and they say you are fine and just stop being anxious. When I prayed at the time I would never think it would work and didn't believe it. I only believed it when someone else would pray for me because it felt like God was listening to them and not me. It gave me a true understanding of the spiritual war we are in daily as soldiers for Christ and it got to the point where i woke up daily and recited each piece of the "Armor of God". The pain and anxiety did not go away but as Christians we give glory to him no matter what we go through and it has taught me to support anyone dealing with this because i now have a great understanding of it.

    • @Mfon-Ette
      @Mfon-Ette 3 дня назад

@qmantech so true, this reminds me of a particular scripture 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows’
When I am in a difficult place, I give God praise and remind myself that this situation will help me be more compassionate to those going through similar stuff in the future.

For me personally a big part of healing my anxiety and depression was actually just healing my body. Healed my leaky gut and sibo, ate keto and focused on getting enough protein and healthy fat, took supplements for nutritional deficiencies, and cut out toxic products. That was about half the battle for me

this ^ is the most under-looked aspect of mental health. Seek healthcare info (or a provider) that understands how God created our bodies, holistically.

@chriskaram5687 it's a huge problem for America in particular where there are thousands of harmful chemicals in products banned in other countries as well as pesticides that are banned in other countries. Also ultraprocessed foods with almost zero nutrition. These things can harm the endocrine system and the gut, both affect our moods. That's really Americas health crisis in a nutshell 😅 I really hope people who aren't aware can gain more knowledge on health and nutrition. When your body is in tip top shape you can better handle your problems, think clearly, and focus on renewing your mind with the word of God. These are things you can control of course. Gotta take care of our temple, everything is connected mind, body, and soul

Thank you so much for speaking about this. Please make more videos on this topic! I was just talking about mental health & the church with my husband last night - probably about the same pastor you referred to here. I know Jesus works miracles, because He freed me from alcohol addiction when He saved me. However, since being saved, I have been in a battle with severe anxiety - specifically, OCD. I see how close this struggle keeps me to God, how it has humbled me (along with bipolar disorder, which I started battling with before being saved), and how God is using all this to accomplish His purposes. He is using this to sanctify me, to encourage me to pray without ceasing, to be able to comfort others as He has comforted me. God can certainly heal me if He wants to - but He has a plan far greater than ours. Even the Apostle Paul had his thorn. Though we’re here on this fallen earth, these struggles will ultimately be used for our good and above all for His glory. I take comfort in knowing He is making all things new and His promises are true. ❤
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’”

I absolutely agree with this. It doesn’t seem right how many Christians seem to dismiss mental health as not real or blame it on spiritual weakness. There are so many factors that can contribute in so many ways. There is also a very real connection between the body and the mind. Environment, food, etc. can affect our mental health, not just spiritual things. I struggled with severe anxiety, depression, panic, and after blaming myself for not being able to control my mental health struggles I found out I was living in an environment with mold which is very toxic and can have terrible affects on physical and mental health. For anyone struggling with this, here is the help i would offer
    1. For the theological side of things, I recommend the book “Consider the Lillies- finding perfect peace in the character of God” by Jonny Ardavanis for those struggling with anxiety.
    2. Look into potential physical causes and don’t give up hope of finding an answer!
    3. Know Jesus cares for you in your suffering. No matter what pain you are experiencing or why, he is near, he is constant, and he is a loving comforter and father.

Anxiety is really tricky and extremely hard to understand, and even harder to manage, even after you've been to therapy or read books or watched hundreds of videos on RUclips. In my case, thankfully I stopped having panic attacks, but I do have palpitations, intrusive thoughts, and other mysterious symptoms. In part I do believe that I simply don't trust God enough, because I try to control everything and I live in fear that my heart suddenly stops beating - which God only can decide. Anxiety is horrible because it forces us to examine our mindset, our lifestyle, and to change them, because there probably are some habits that our body and mind don't accept. It's a lot of work, and it takes A LOT of patience

Hey.. Every time you feel alone, remind yourself that the Lord is with you always, even though you may not see Him. Matthew 28:20
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Do you read your Bible? You can try reading aloud and when your focus goes off, you can play the audio Bible instead. I know that God’s words is powerful, and that God can heal any type of condition. Matthew 4:23-25, He still heals.

I honestly believe all men, at some point need to work with their hands. Not in like a computer sense, or building an audience sense.. But like literally choppin wood, building something, literally anything. A lot of men are chronically online weather it be for work or leisure, and unplugging and working out the body, mind and spirit outside, and working side by side next to other men is a lost art, and as a result the loss of physically, mentally & spiritually strong men.
I love that you made this video, and hopefully it makes other men feel more comfortable sharing, and getting any help they need ♥️ we need you men! - with Love from a woman.

I have always said that these health issues were mostly fabricated due to the recent surge of many who claim to have various mental health issues without actually having them, just to look for an identity. But i do agree it is very ignorant and an unfortunate result of a "boy who cried wolf" effect. We need to create a real awareness and stop dismissing this issue like a common colds. I pray God to be glorified through this situation!

I apprecciate your honesty. Ive been struggling with panic/ anxiety for the last 5 years. It has utterly changed who I am and has been the reason why I am still single. Whenever a girl is interested in me I fear letting her know about my struggle since I assume shed think of it as weak and unmasculine so I end up just distancing myself even though I do really like her. I isolate myself which makes me more miserable.
I am honeslty so sick of it controlling so many aspects of my life. I feel like I am trapped in my own mind. I could be so much further ahead if it wasnt for myself.. nothing else stops me.
Me praying to god about it reguarly but still not feeling a lot of change has in some ways actually weakened my faith which saddens me immensely. Id like to be the man god wants me to be but cant wrap my head around why god doesnt blesses me with calmness. thats all I am wishing for. If you have any advice Id love to hear it.
As always keep up the good work brother.

Hi 👋 I had a time in my life where I had no peace, not the one that the Lord gives any way and it was not easy dealing with bleakness, depression. Other times, the option was to be so busy with many things. Thankfully, God showed me mercy and helped me. It happened when I began to take God seriously and began reading my Bible alot. I guess I just wanted to know that He wasn’t a hoax. I don’t know how but I found peace. My mind wasnt everywhere and going in a thousand directions. I didn’t go far into the future and come back with fears and worries that would torture me. It was a lot. I found that somehow in my wanting to know about God and learn about how He is. I got healed of so many things. I think you should read your Bible and obey His instructions. When you pray to God, ask Him to reveal Himself to you, that you want to know Him, go to Him for Him, really, then you will find you. Pray Ephesians 1:17-19. I used to have a lot of issues, including self esteem, and boy, how motivational talk failed me. Gradually, my life came back and is coming back together.
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Lord God, I pray that You show him mercy and draw him close to You. Please heal his heart, soul and body and give him peace, the peace that only You can give, in Jesus name, amen.

One of the biggest things for me was just adapting an authoritarian mindset over what was my struggles engraining it in my mind that Christ is over it all he has the power so I have the power and belive me I know this can sound yk.. but the truth is this is the truth and it will work at some point sometimes it just depends on where we position our mind and the strength and effort we give towards that and not so much the effort towards “solving or fixing” the problem in short where you have authority in Christ over your struggles you are free in Jesus name amen

In my case, I had a trusted person to talk with and then proceeded to write out my life like a book addressed to a stranger.
After writing down my past and talking with this trusted person; I realized the impact of the abuse I suffered as a young person.
The Father then spent 7 days with me, uncovering the roots of my animosity, grief, apathy, anxiety, and etc.
I will not say it was a good experience. I said many times that I should have never started writing or talking about my past. However, right now I sit in peace, that really shouldn't be possible, considering the circumstances. Im not fully healed, but I'm on my way to complete surrender to the Lord Jesus and forgiveness for the woman who stole my soul from me all those years ago. May the Lord be magnified through it all
*Edit* LoL, I just had a mini panic attack

This is probably just an uneducated opinion of mine but this is what I think. I believe that the modern society that we have built with all its comforts and quick access to things people used to struggle and work for (food, water, shelter) has been sheltering or coddling us to the point where we have been unable to deal with anxieties that used to be normal to the average human. Also the overload of information from smart phones of things that cause negative thoughts and emotions affect us more that we realize.
I think things like social media detoxes and refraining from stimulants like caffine have helped me immensely with axiety and panic attacks. Praying and lots of quiet time with God of course helps to!

I think there’s so much truth to what you said!
I think we often forget that the true men of the faith in the Bible were people just like us. When you really read about their lives, you realize they were no “super christian”. They struggled just like we do. Think about Elijah, a man who walked with the Lord, prayed fervently, and challenged the prophets of Baal in the ultimate showdown with absolute confidence in God (1 Kings 18). But James 5:17, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth” (ESV). Elijah was a human being, even as we are. We even read that right after this amazing display of God’s ultimate authority, Elijah became afraid and ran for his life from Jezebel! (1 Kings 19). Elijah even asked God to take his life. And God’s response? Feeding him and giving him rest. No mention of “you are not trusting me enough” or “did you not remember what I just did?”, but simply giving him rest and restoring him.

I had an almost 10 year battle with this stuff, still do sometimes.
I had a gluten allergy that when I figured it out, it got way better. Also limiting caffeine helped big time.
Hope this can help someone maybe.

Thank You Lord for Josiah. Thank You for bringing h him through the ups and downs of his life and preserving his life. Father I ask that You please heal his heart and help him to trust You. Help him understand that You are not man and would not fail him like he has been failed, help him trust You. Deliver him from anxiety and depression and all its paraphernalia, in Jesus name, amen.
Hey, your namesake is a legend!!!! Check him out in 2 chronicles 34-35 and 2 kings 22-23, I think you’ll be encouraged by his story.

Hey brother, just wanted to let you know that I can empathize with you. GOD’s been holding onto me during a tough season of really struggling with my faith, which led to anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I struggled with my faith not because Christianity is not true, GOD has revealed to me that it is, but because of fear, condemnation, confusion, and unknowingly agreeing with the lies of the enemy. GOD’s really been patient with me through my terrible confusion and doubts, and He has revealed to me that His Son Jesus will never leave us. I hope that the Lord heals you soon

3:20 “Lack of trust” is wayyy too simplistic. From what I’ve experienced, both with having anxiety for a long time and finally having much more peace the last couple months, it was spiritual, physical, emotional-all of it. Instead of just trusting God in my head, it was also rebuking negative thought patterns and asking God to come into my thoughts consistently. It was being set free from fear, not instantaneously, but once things started to change, it was pretty drastic. Once I started using the tools of renouncing anxiety and depression and repenting of any part I took in them, as well as asking for God’s peace, remembering His words, that’s when breakthrough really happened. Also just getting consistent sleep was a huge game changer, as my hormones were super messed up from not sleeping enough. Can it be a demonic thing? Yes. Can it be a chemical thing? Yes. Can it be about changing your brain’s thought patterns and the things you’re telling yourself? Yes. Have compassion on those around you and don’t judge, AND also don’t act like this thing can’t be defeated. The blood of Jesus conquers all.

Hi Adriane, I’m sorry you’re going through this struggle. Apart from praying, I’d love to know your relationship with the Word of God. Often, true deliverance comes through a deep understanding of Scripture. I strongly encourage you to read your Bible consistently, study passages on anxiety, and memorize scriptures that speak about peace, a sound mind, and healing.
One of my go-to scriptures when I feel anxious or panicky is Philippians 4:6-8. Others that can help include: 2 Timothy 1:7, Isaiah 41:10, and Psalm 23:4. Reciting these scriptures aloud when the panic attacks come is a powerful way to break free from it. Say them in your mind or write and read them if speaking feels too difficult.

      Let me pray with you:
      Dear Lord,
I thank You for Adriane-her life, her family, and every blessing You have given her. Today, I lift her before You, asking for healing, strength and peace. Lord, if there’s anything that needs Your mercy, I ask that You forgive her and pour out Your compassion. I rebuke every spirit of panic and anxiety in her life. I declare freedom in Jesus’ name and a complete restoration of peace to her body, soul, and spirit.
Peace, be still, in the name of Jesus. Amen. 🙏

What if it’s the teaching of Christianity that cause you to have panic attacks?
What if believing a lion is prowling around seeking to devour your soul is harmful?

I had some crippling panic attacks that got so physical where I would vomit. Numb hands. Palpitations. Well come to find out I have MS but I got the panic attacks outright to at least come down to occasional general anxiety. It seems to be triggered by big life changes. So you put a few “buts” in there and you’re right but overall wrong. It’s not about putting the hands up and saying put faith in……but there is something he’s trying to get you to recognize where how you love or your faith is lacking. Anxiety comes in the form of holding onto worldly concerns that are distracting. He’s not going to absolve that but rather trying to allow that insight. Think about that. And think about it some more. The answers are there. The cure is there.

Well done for a brutally honest video. I think Christian theologies have a lot to answer for because contrary to their claims a whole lot of people are not comforted by the assertions of the faith. Religion (Christianity in this case) works beautifully for some people. It's disastrous for other people. And I suspect it's something in between for the majority. But with heaven and hell at stake, what true believer is going to question the faith with any sincerity? What half-convinced believer is going to question the faith with any sincerity?
I think Christians would do themselves a huge favour if they allowed people to doubt, even to doubt to the point of non belief. One size does not fit all and so a theology that some folk will find beautiful, a theology which those people find obvious, it will be a curse for others simply because they will struggle to make any sense of it. Trust me, when one understands that God likely does not exist, or that some specific theology is bonkers as opposed to "the truth", then an awful lot of healing follows. This is the converse of a person "finding" Jesus and having a subsequent healing. It also works the other way.
The bible does not help with many of its grandiose claims and promises. Christians don't help themselves with their constant self praise and their demeaning of the world, including demeaning of each other.
I hope you can find peace.

Christians don't think twice taking a car to a professional if it breaks down. They don't take it to a faith healer. How much more valuable are our bodies, our temple? There is a lot of effective treatments for panic attacks. For me personally, a chemical treatment is fastest but should be the very last resort if nothing else helps because most of the medications they prescribe are so highly addictive. Please tell a professional what you are going through. God bless you, and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I know someone who believes that Jesus saved everyone, and because of that no one will go to hell and instead go in a state of sleep or if they believe in Jesus you’ll go to heaven.
Which I heard them out, and I came to the conclusion that if I were to believe that, why put in the effort of trying to right like how the Bible says? If there’s no spiritual punishment for what I do now, why bother trying to do good how God wants me to?
And I’m struggling with trying to tell them that’s not true. And I’m wondering if you have any advice on that?
P.S. sorry for the long comment.

I’m 31 and in grad school to be a therapist. It’s always been crazy to me how my churches would tell me that all I need to do is rely on God. Mental Health is nowhere in sight in the church. I suffered panic attacks all last year until I finally let go of religion where my panic attacks calmed down. It came from fear of hell and Gods wrath. I’m not atheist but after my experiences and own personal study, I’m more of an agnostic with Christian values.

As someone who also studied to be a therapist and also held similar agnostic beliefs and Christian values, I sincerely hope God calls you back to Him. I’m so sorry that your church didn’t acknowledge mental health and preached wrath and hellfire. When we are presented with the true, biblical gospel we should feel joy, peace, and security enter our lives. There are a lot of useful tools and therapies in the world of psychology, but please trust me, they can never fully bring you peace and happiness without a relationship with God. I struggled for decades with my traumas, trying every kind of therapy and felt no relief until coming to God. God isn’t mad at you, He doesn’t want to punish you, He loves you - he especially loves you.

Catholicism has a lot of wrong and unbilical doctrine. He definitely shouldn't become Catholic and probably won't. You should consider becoming protestant and research the reason why most protestants don't agree with Catholicism.
