The end of layer 5 made my blood run cold, and I pretty much immediately turned on my lights . . . I'm supposed to be a grown woman, good job mate, excellently done . . .

There's a lot of really cool small differences with the images shown that's a really cool attention to detail! The apricot trees in gen 1 had me do a double take lmao
Btw living plastic refers to the “pokedoll” In celadon you can read an advertisement about the “poke doll” that essentially stated “this doll is so realistic, you could claim the plastic is alive!”
I'm surprised there wasn't an entry about Pokémon Pink on here! When my dad went overseas on a business trip to Hokkaido, he brought me back a copy. Despite it being in japanese, I was in luck, cause my older brother got Pokémon Yellow for his birthday a few months after the games release, so he was the one who ended up translating everything for me. I remember being so confused at school because everyone was mentioning pokémon that weren't in my copy. It wasn't until my brother and I compared copies that we realized there was 'version exclusives'. I've only seen them mentioned in translated blogspot and forum posts, but it's a shame Pink never got localized. (Great video, perfect for halloween! I LOVED the ending)
the original Pokemon games always felt haunted because the programming was held together on chewing gum, string, duct tape, and prayer. The abundance of glitches, eccentricities, odd design decisions, and unexplained lore that would later be sanded out is vaguely unsettling and intriguing on its own. Like, there are multiple references to real world locations and events in the original games, and 'Kanto' is just based on the Kanto region of Japan, suggesting at least that Red/Green take place in an alternate reality Japan. Gold, Silver and Crystal aggressively retcon, essentially making the Pokemon Universe its own thing, while adding some troubling and unsettling implications of its own, like the silence of Red, Mt. Silver being sealed off, the Cinnabar disaster, the revival of Suicune/Entei/Raikou, the rival being a cruel, petty thief of unknown origin, Eggs, Celebi and the lost GS Ball event, etc. The thing that makes the Gen III games such a radical break is how much less unsettling they are. This is a function of the GBA inherently being less spooky than the GameBoy/GameBoy Color, but also of design decisions opting for more vivid colors and a lot of more straightforwardly 'cool' Pokemon. Ghost, Dragon, and Dark actually became more standard types with a huge expansion in the available number. The Pokemon series is the series established by Ruby and Sapphire, I would argue. In a sense it's true that Pokemon, as we knew it in GSC, did not continue. It mutated into something with fewer edges, something bright and fun and increasingly lacking in the jank that gives the early games their unique appeal. For Pokemon to survive it had to move beyond that. They never became exceptionally well-programmed, but they weren't janky until Sword/Shield and then Scarlet/Violet, and those are different types of jank. though S/V can be unsettling in their own right especially when you fall through the world or go somewhere you shouldn't be able to. The unclimbable landmass always disturbs me a bit, like I know there's nothing, but it feels like there should be something there. The 'haunted' energy isn't usually captured by romhacks that use the Gen I/II engine because they're trying too hard, and the people writing them are brain poisoned by creepypasta and 'edgy' media. I think if they want to make something genuinely unsettling, they need to play at least Earthbound, if not also Mother 3, to get some idea of how to generate an 'off' vibe. The best horror is left partially to the imagination. Rather than gore or explicitly fucked up stuff, which usually triggers disgust rather than fear, the point of a 'haunted GameBoy game' should be to give you the increasing sense that something is Just Not Right. It'd be funny to just do a Red/Green mod that 'fixes some of the bugs', and not tell anyone that it's a romhack that gets increasingly weird the deeper you get into it. like, you encounter Pokemon or items in the wrong location, some doors or ladders take you to places they shouldn't, some trainer AI will be extremely odd, things will randomly appear in your inventory that you didn't pick up, and sometimes a text box will pop up, unprompted. You're Running Out of Time. There's never any explanation or pay-off for that message, nor does it correspond to playtime or anything. At the end, instead of silence, Mewtwo talks to you, but what they say doesn't make any sense. But it has Implications. you can't help thinking about what Mewtwo said. however, Mewtwo only speaks the first time you play the romhack, and never again. Also, you can't actually catch Mewtwo. The player character refuses to throw the ball. A message pops up. 'I can't do this anymore.'
-- spoilery rambling ahead -- there are so many little things I like in this video. How the ruins of Alph music gets progressively louder and drowns out the narration, forcing you to turn up your volume which in turn builds anticipation for a loud noise to play (only for it to be a fakeout and all the music to cut out), the defiance in "I'm not showing that, it can't make me", the genuine cool little alternate universe tips and tricks. If I could change one thing about this video, it would be to make the infohazards more infohazard-y. It's not a good idea to put up a promise that "There's going to be X kind of scare in the following section!" only to not follow up on that. All in all I really enjoyed it and "fictional video essay" has definitely been my fave genre as of late. Came here from hazel's "creepypasta retrospective" vid that had a similar vibe and this did not disappoint.
I came here after watching Hazel and Mae’s Normal Creepypasta Retrospective and omg, this is great. It really captures the initial feeling of mystery the original Super Mario 64 iceberg had to me before this sort of format became a modern top 10 list type of thing. It makes me feel like I did when I was 13 and learning about shit like missingno and lavender town for the first time, it’s fantastic.
So I watched this video for the first time back in April, as part of a marathon I was doing of internet horror projects I hadn't seen before - and for some reason, this one got to me the most. Video game horror stories have always impacted me the most, and Pokemon is no exception. There are three particular things that have stuck with me for close to two months after I first watched/listened to this: 1. The Black Gunk video, because I can vividly imagine that. Where you're seeing this fluid that seems like blood dripping from the cartridge, I can imagine just the panic in the person's breathing building as they process what they're seeing before just screaming and smashing it against the wall. 2. The Whispers from the Gameboy. 3. Satoshi Tajiri and others disappearing after the release of Gold and Silver. On its own this isn't too bad, but after everything else putting it into context it's a really disturbing thought. Just that thought of what exactly happened to make them disappear and how no one knows. Also, I'm not sure if this was the intention, but am I right to guess that Pokemans221's disappearance is related to the girl npc who appears only sometimes in the game in this universe? I'm also guessing the 'Flash Cave Figures' and the "STOP PLAYING" NPC are all people who have disappeared too. Like, I'm a guy in my mid-20's. I've been watching and listening to horror content since I was seven. I followed creepypastas during their heyday from 2009-2014 when I was in my early to mid teens. Been following internet horror for as long as I can remember, going back to the late 2000's - and yet this video still managed to genuinely disturb me.
This was excellent. The ambiance was only added to by my headphone giving me the “battery low” alert during the last sections, as if they didn’t want me to get forbidden knowledge.
I was almost appalled you there wasn't an entry for the Gary easter egg in Vermillion City, until I remembered it was only found recently. You see, if you beat your rival and manage to get cut and get out of the SS Anne before the in-game time increases by 1 or 2 minutes (it's not consistent between cartridges), you can catch a glimpse of your rival running towards the Pokemon Center. If you go into the Pokemon Center after watching him, you'll see Gary inside, motionless before the counter. Speaking to him only springs a textbook with dots. The only way to get him off the way is to exit the Pokemon Center and going back in, or saving and then resting the game. It's believed that this is an easter egg that explains why Gary suddenly changed one of his Pokemon after the SS Anne battle. It's extremely hard to pull off, though, because almost all cartridges have the 1 minute limit, but it was found out that if you trade a Missigno to your copy, you will be able to skip certain cutscenes, including those of the captain (you need to get Cut for the event to happen) and the SS Anne leaving (you will be able to walk throughout the animation if you press any key while Missigno is in your party.
This was a really great and original idea! I can see this becoming the next horribly overused horror trope on RUclips, but you got there first! Really awesome work bro.
The difference between this iceberg video's Universe and Our's is that Satoru Iwata manage to... fix 𝗜𝗧. Maybe because 𝗜𝗧 wasn't as Catastrophic in our Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. Maybe because 𝗜𝗧 couldn't propagate any further thanks to Gold and Silver delevpment Shift with Satoru. Maybe 𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑾𝑬 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒚...
at the same time, many argue that *IT* was the hidden ingredient that made Pokemon get so popular to begin with. Sure, the games were fun and the monsters were compelling and addictively collectible, but at the same time, wasn't there just something about *IT* that made the game feel like more than the sum of its parts? *IT* was something that most normies that only played the game at the height of Pokemania never consciously noticed, only vaguely felt, but those who delved deeper, who learned and developed arbitary code execution, got to have some vague glimpse of *IT*. The rogue pixels that nibbled the edges of sprites. The bad data that piled up in memory, and, over time, seemed to nudge the RNG bit by bit out of the player's favor. The harsh noises, the fake spaces--Pokemon doesn't quite have *IT* anymore, but maybe *IT* was the game's mysterious guardian spirit, its own strange blessing that demanded from its data an exacting toll in return. Now that spirit has been excorsised, in our world, but perhaps all it did was move to some other vessel, awaiting its return...
There's something oddly terrifying about searching a video from a work of fiction, and having it be real. The "MissigNo is not a glitch!" video is real. Bravo.
the crazier part, i just talked to krick in his server, it's entirely coincidental. the video matches up almost spot-on, but he just found out that it exists when i sent it
It's like if there was a universe where every Sonic creepypasta is real, and ultimately the reason is just a bunch of powerful demons who really like two things - Sonic games and eternally torturing human souls, and also talking about aforementioned stuff while drinking in a karaoke bar.
20:40 In Ultra Moon wormholes I was trying to catch some legendary or mythical and I shook my ds from side to side violently while the Ultraball was bobbing and it worked, and I've been doing it ever since even though I know it's not actually a thing
Also probably not the smartest thing to do unless you hold the top screen carefully while you shake it. I also tried pressing left and right triggers on the frame the ball moves the farthest to the respective side which I have no recollection of working. Last thing I remember doing is the konami code
Oh that was incredible, how there were small hints at first and then it all snowballed into that ending which was pulled off VERY well. Dont think i've seen anything quite like this. Good job!
you forgot to mention the move "Rainbow", it's a fire type move learned by oh-oh, it kinda work like hyper beam, what's interesting is that by using this move on a trainer that would call you and Ko their pokemon with this, the trainer would never call's you again, and when try to make calls by them, they will always be not ready for a fight, i tried using raimbow with a link battle with my bro's GBC, the result is that my bro's pokemon HP, when i KO'd with rainbow, their HP will always be zero, no matter how many pokemon center heal or revives was using, i decided to make oh-oh forget that move.
I remember watching a video about the most disturbing characters in non horror video games (by Infinite Omniverse) and they put Missingno at #1 which kinda weirded me out compared to all the other characters. But then they started to talk about their childhood experiences with it and how it basically destroyed their save file. And they then started talking about how terrifying that would be in the real world. anyways this video reminds me of that
Honestly I'm... a little disappointed you didn't cover more about "It's Watching Me"...? I really wanted to hear more about what people experience when they read it. Like, I understand, the weird metanarrative 'infohazard' thing everyone's always afraid of, but, it's just a video, right? Just talking *about* it should be fine, right? I shouldn't have to feel so alone thinking about it, right? I'm going to do my part and give a long and more thorough description beneath the Read More. Be warned. At the start of the story, the narrator, a college student at the time-- this was around 2008 or '09 I think, by the way-- is looking for a replacement copy of Red version after their old one got corrupted, so they order one off eBay. Standard stuff like Krick said. They fill out a little bit of time talking about the stuff they can't get back with the loss of their original save file, stuff like a level 100 Charizard, a Magmaster they got from an old friend they haven't seen in years, a bunch of duplicated rare candies and master balls. When the game arrives, they talk about how the cartridge just kind of... looks funny. Not quite in a way that it's been tampered with by another person, but like the plastic is kind of... warped, just a little bit. There's a photo to go with it, showing a crack running along one side, and they complain about how the description on the website said it was 'pristine condition', but since they already spent the money, they decide to pop it in just to see if it even works. The part where it felt heavier than it should have is not mentioned until later. The game powers on fine despite the hardware's condition, and the first thing they notice is the save file from the previous owner and its nearly maxed out game time, at 995 : 25. And, like, this is impressive stuff, even for diehards like myself. So naturally, the narrator hesitates to delete the file and all that hard work, thinking about everything *they've* lost, and they load into the game to see what the other person was like. Every PC storage box is completely full, they went out of their way to make a whole living Pokedex, all of them are near max level, and it's immediately obvious where so much of that time must have went. They all have nicknames and they're arranged in numerical order, and honestly that last part is what's most impressive to me, the PC interface was always so bad. Getting rid of all that hard work felt wrong, so they decide to spend a bit of time with the game, after painstakingly shuffling themselves a party of all their favorite Pokemon. They take a walk around the region, starting at Palette Town, to Maroon Village, through Maroon Forest to Pewter, like you always do at the start of the game, and the thing that surprises them first is when they run into an un-fought trainer. Like, somehow after all that game time, the original owner accidentally skipped this one...? And the thing is, the dialogue cited in the pasta from this NPC... doesn't exist. It's a Bug Catcher who asks the player how long they've been walking around, and if anyone misses them. In the battle, the player realizes the movesets are kind of janky on the Pokemon they pulled out. Some have incomplete movesets, despite their level, which should be impossible. Some don't have attacking moves at all, which doesn't explain how they were levelled in the first place. They can still at least finish the battle, and the ending dialogue is also strange-- "I think I'll miss you, even after you're gone." The next weird thing happens in Mt. Moon, where the player gets lost. They spend a lot of words on how impossible that should be, and how they know these games like the back of their hand, and describe a lot of really tight, claustrophobic, one-tile-wide hallways, which don't exist in the normal game. They claim to get stuck for hours before eventually deciding to save, quit, and try again later after looking up a guide. When they power the game back on, they realize the timer has been maxed out; 999 : 59. Loading into the cave again, they realize during the first random encounter with a wild Clefairy that their Magmaster has somehow changed names. The text is garbled and glitchy and unreadable. It takes them several minutes of walking this tight, unending cave maze to realize the music has not loaded in properly. The notes are strained and low and uncomfortable. It is described in a way that the background noises starting at 26:25 in this video made me remember. I am not happy thinking about this. I don't like remembering it. They reach a ladder after a long time, and there is a trainer. Despite a now-glitchy name, it is the same bug catcher as before, the same dialogue reading, "How long have you been walking around like this? Do you think anyone misses you?" Their Magmaster's name has changed again; it is now the same as the one from the original copy of the game. The enemy trainer sends out a Ditto. It uses transform, only for something to go wrong. The Magmaster they become has an incorrect sprite. It is bloated and swollen, the limited pixels making up the sprite seeming to make it look veined and lethargic. Magmaster takes its already-queued action and attacks. The Ditto's malformed sprite erupts into a mess of static pixels and viscera. It does not leave the screen when the enemy trainer emerges from the side with their ending dialogue. "I'M WATCHING YOU." The post was written in the time it took for the GameBoy's battery to run out. Despite how afraid I was at the time, I was more scared of something worse happening if I turned the console off myself. I put it up online just to see if anyone else had a similar experience and could prove I wasn't losing my mind. At least that's what I told myself. That's what made sense to me at the time. In the years since then I've honestly become less and less sure. Some of the things I do don't feel like I'm doing them anymore. It's like I'm compelled to move. No matter how sorry I am, I can't fix that mistake, and every time I try, I make it worse. But I mean, having watched this video, I feel at least a little better. You talked about it. You had the same feelings as me. That means I wasn't imagining it, right? That means I'm not alone, right? None of us are alone. None of us get to be alone.
Something about this Iceberg is fun. It gives me vibes from surfing the web back in the early 2000s when you would find all sorts of wacky rumors. Especially in an era where most secrets about old games have been laid bare, so you always see the same things on these lists. Even if I know it isn't real it is very nostalgic in a way.
The "young cousin visceral screams thread" could genuinely be a really fun two sentence horror story-esque campfire tale if you manage to pace it right. The stinger of "it saw me" is so good in that like, weird nostalgic sense.
Okay I’ve been thinking about this video. I understand where most of the concepts in the video originate from. But Pokemans221 doesn’t seem to have an immediate basis in any Pokemon RUclipsrs. I find the two points surrounding it the most mysterious and comparatively most unsettling.
Ok so consporacy mokent but I have a feeling the whole black gunk, screamingpixels.png and Polemans221 are part of the same "story" since they seem distinctively out of the ordinary
I think it's based off of the youtuber tamashiiHiroka, she used to do similar videos where she debunked creepypastas and made tutorials on how to perform glitches. Just a shot in the dark, though.
Tbh I feel like if Pokémon was more popular for teens and adults in the beginning of its popularity I think the games would’ve align more on the manga kinda plot and tone for the game
I genuinely love just how batshit insane this video is, I genuinely never would have thought of this and its actually such a crazy idea; the scares are genuinely effective too and everything about is GENIUS. 10/10 internet horror video right here
revisiting this again and its just. chefs kiss. something i picked up this time around was, when talking about mewthree, the screen itself glitched out and i think it was a nice touch.
Did you know that for a short time right after release Red and Green were actually sold not in the grey cartridges that most of us had but in special cartridges that were red or green respectively? Collectors pay up to $5k for a copy of them as they are super rare, though as far as I can tell those were only ever sold in Europe so you will have to scour different countries' eBay sites.
Something interesting that should have been on the iceberg was the connection to ancient tombs found in Japan. Apparently they had a big inspiration on Gold and Silver, as Ho-Oh is based on a depiction of the Vermillion Bird found in one of them. The Unowns are thought to be based on black markings found on the walls of some of the tombs, which local legend says are a lost form of writing. Oh yeah, and also that weird thread where a supposed electrical engineer named Michael explained that these tombs were the source of Missingno and the distortion in the games, and how it apparently could be solved through something called the "Red Chain protocol".
So my theory is the reason that Pokemon is a glitchy cash cow mess in our universe is because Missingno still exists and Nintendo is doing LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN ITS POWER TO PLEASE IT because all the weird satanic panic rumors around Pokemon are TRUE and they don't want Missingno to get mad.
I think there is something really compelling about this idea that all these horrifying things Missingno seems to be responsible for, and the eventual infohazard overtaking people's minds, are the result of the mass obsession with the desire for more creepypastas and lore made manifest.
I spent a good chunk of the las tpar tof the vidoe just WAITING to either directly or subtly be shown polemans221's remaisn after explicity refusing to like damn that had me UNSETTLED
I remember waking up to find this video playing one night. Something felt wrong every second I was still awake, that’s how I found out about your channel, ever since I’ve been hooked
same here man. it would have just been a few seasons and movies i watched, and just 2 gens? I wouldnt even have had crystal as it was scrapped in that timeline. i definitely wouldnt have been as hard into it as i am here because my favorite parts didn't happen until gens 3-5.
I think someone once Leaked some data from an earlier build of gen2. and a couple of pallet swap Pokémon with lines related to some “Shiny” event was within it. In fact the 2 currently known Beta’s are ENTIRELY different form the final release.
got here from searching "creepypasta essay", watching hazel's video, and from there have been watching your entire channel. so much good stuff but this video especially is very, um, heartwarming? like I'm sure that sounds weird but it's obviously made with love and it also has motivated me to work on some of my personal spoopy projects. thanks man
I did have a weird Pokemon dream once. I was in a battle and my Pokemon fainted. On my team screen, all my other Pokemon were fainted as well. As soon as I realized this situation was impossible in gameplay, I woke up. Pokemon was a big part of my childhood, and I wonder how a world where Pokemon was cancelled after Gold and Silver would look like. For one, monster-collecting RPGs would be a lot less common, and anime wouldn’t be as mainstream.
I was genuinely so weirdly unsettled throughout this whole video At first I didn't realize a majority of the entries weren't real so as I went on watching the video I genuinely started having a crisis I felt so strangely scared "finding out" the game series I had grown up with my whole and have over researched to an obsessive degree had facts that I have never heard about or seen in my entire life It's such a Disturbing feeling Great video though!
I remember having a few lucid dreams about AU versions of pokemon games that had different quirks our universe’s games don’t. Good examples of this would be a version of FRLG where you could fuse your starter with one of the three legendary birds (Venusaur with Zapdos, charizard with moltres, and blastoise with Articuno) in one verse, and the elusive Pokemon Titans who could only be found via hacking in the 3ds games (as well as one hard-to-find ROM hack of HGSS known as FireGold) and had bizarre, almost eldritch abilities such as being able to appear before the player IN REAL LIFE to lay a curse on or even kill them if they lose a battle with the titan in-game in another separate verse I also remember one dream I had where I saw an ad for a new game from Gen 12 of the series, featuring the gen’s new starters, one of which being a Fire (or was it Water?) type starter that resembled a lion and reminded me a bit of our universe’s Shinx
UPDATE: In a strange and funny coincidence, I had a dream the night after I watched this video where I caught a quick, split-second glimpse of the Missingno from the AU mentioned in this vid. Like, physically, rather than in a game or something. Pretty weird right? I mean, if there is any merit to the Multiverse Theory (which I personally am a hardcore believer in for personal reasons) then there’s a good chance this AU could be “real” in some sense of the word in at least one universe/timeline.
Considering some dreams I recall having, I see no reason to believe you made up any of these. Dreams can be weird. The update about seeing AU MisssingNo. in your dreams in particular feels believable. You found the video so memorable that it influenced your thoughts while you were sleeping. The timing makes perfect sense.
I really like the of this video, i wish more people did stuff like this. I love how this is basically a massive creepypasta. I love that so much. Good job
I was at layer 5 and I tried to enter miniplayer, but it closed the video and for a minute I couldn't find it again lol. Very fitting. Turns out it was because I was watching it through a discord link and not from my recommended, but that's not very spooky.
This is really neat, love the video. I dunno if this is an intentional Easter egg or if it’s a happy coincidence, but Gold and Silver were released after the PNG format’s creation but before its mass adoption after becoming an international standard format. That makes the usage in the supposed screamingpixels.png file MUCH more interesting and almost prophetic, assuming the PNG format history isn’t changed in the alternate universe
In the small, quiet town of Willowbrook, nestled amidst a dense forest, there existed a legend whispered in hushed tones among the locals. It was the tale of the Nighttime Ticker, an enigmatic entity that followed those who dared to take a walk in the dark of night. Unlike most urban legends, this entity was not a malevolent killer but rather a peculiar, unnerving presence. It all began with a young man named Alex. One chilly autumn evening, he decided to stroll along the forested path that wound through the outskirts of Willowbrook. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the world into darkness, he felt an eerie sensation creeping over him. With each step, he heard it-a soft, rhythmic sound, like the gentle tick of a clock, but oddly out of place in the wilderness. "Tick...tick...tick," it went, occurring at precise ten-second intervals. Alex couldn't pinpoint the source, but it was undeniably real. He quickened his pace, hoping to leave the sound behind, but it persisted, seemingly matching his every move. Nerves on edge, Alex decided to test the entity. He abruptly stopped walking, and the tick-tock ceased. It only resumed when he resumed his steps. His heart pounded, and he considered running back home, but a strange curiosity held him in its grip. Who or what could possibly produce such a sound? As Alex walked deeper into the forest, the path grew darker, illuminated only by the faint moonlight filtering through the trees. The Nighttime Ticker's presence seemed to grow stronger, yet it never ventured too close. It stayed just at the edge of his perception, never revealing itself. Days turned into weeks, and word spread throughout Willowbrook about the strange entity that followed Alex during his nightly walks. Many townsfolk dismissed it as mere superstition, while others became increasingly intrigued. Some even attempted their own nighttime strolls, hoping to encounter the enigmatic entity. One fateful night, a group of curious townspeople embarked on a collective expedition, determined to confront the Nighttime Ticker. Armed with flashlights, they ventured into the dark forest, their excitement mingling with trepidation. As they walked deeper, the tick-tock sound grew louder, and the entity seemed to multiply, with each member hearing it in their own unique way. At the heart of the forest, the Nighttime Ticker revealed its true nature. As the group gathered around a clearing, they saw a collection of antique clocks hanging from the trees, all synchronized to produce the eerie ticking sound. At the center stood Alex, who had become obsessed with the mysterious entity. He explained that he never meant to harm anyone; he just wanted to share his strange experience. The townspeople, though initially frightened, realized that the Nighttime Ticker was a product of collective fascination and fear. They decided to preserve the legend, allowing the strange, rhythmic presence to persist as a testament to the eerie mysteries of their town. And so, in the quiet town of Willowbrook, the Nighttime Ticker remained, continuing to follow those who dared to walk in the dark of night, constantly repeating its haunting refrain: "Tick...tick...tick." It was a reminder that sometimes, the most unsettling mysteries are born not from malevolence, but from the enigmatic and inexplicable.
Shit like screamingpixels is what every iceberg needs. None of the others ive seen since the mario 64 iceberg have really scratched the itch for me 10/10 iceberg!
also, im really surprised you didnt mention the anime. i mean i kind of understand, a lot of the episodes have been lost to time, leaving massive gaps in knowledge. still a big part of the series history tho
I Recently discovered 5:40 if you show oak a team of porygon ditto zapdos moltres akicuno and mewtwo he give you the jungle key which opens this door revealing safiri zone pokemon and wild fossils and mew. It make sense why this wasn't found until 2022
good sneak a peak into a universe where me and my best friend are doomed side character's a horror story. changes are I would have been the one leaving behind information for the protagonist use to survive. they might even find my dead body also nifty little vid dawg.
Haha, I remember Pokemon. I think I was obsessed with it as a kid. It's a shame it ended, but it was an anime tie-in game, so what are you going to do?
Hey Krick, I just found this channel but I’m already enjoying your videos a lot, especially this one! I hope you upload lots of stuff like this in the future, it’s awesome
This video makes me wanna throw up omfg. Good work….
this is the greatest youtube video of all time
i've never been so glued to my seat. i love pokemon !!
came here from ur creepypasta video ❤
You and Mae have lead us to premium content, thank you.
Hazel's origin point
Banger reccomendation, thanks.
I love the implication that in our universe, the reason Pokémon is not haunted is because nobody tried to stop the series. More content . More food.
year late but
missingno was in xy
it continues to feed
i woke up to this in the middle of the night on autoplay and i was so horribly confused
the scariest part of this iceberg is the implication that umbreon doesn't exist. unimaginable
Truly the worst timeline
A universe without Umbreon is one I don't want to live in. I love moon fren :(
May as well not exist in this timeline too with how much gamefreak neutered it in the console generations.

The end of layer 5 made my blood run cold, and I pretty much immediately turned on my lights . . . I'm supposed to be a grown woman, good job mate, excellently done . . .

the nonchalant tone of this video. the implications of batshit crazy facts that the "explainer" just assumes we're aware of. incredible stuff

Perfect for Halloween I agree but it was released in December
24:30 I like to imagine every alternate universe has the /x/ board.
The fact that the missingno video is NOT a joke makes this so much better
Apparently he actually didnt know there was a real video and its just a coincidence
Finally, a good Pokemon iceberg that isn't just Lavender Town Syndrome or the Burger King toys
Pretending Lavender Town Syndrome is an 'unsolved mystery' at that!
It's real my wife left me for Lavender Town Syndrome
you mean the pallete town syndome and taco queen toys
the original Pokemon games always felt haunted because the programming was held together on chewing gum, string, duct tape, and prayer.
Came here immediately after finishing Hazel’s creepypasta video and man this is good shit
Holy shit. PISSSS
Dittos :):):):):)
Same dude. This didn’t disappoint :)
Heh “Ditto”
Yeah me too, some unbelievably creative projects
-- spoilery rambling ahead --
there are so many little things I like in this video.
Came here from hazel's "creepypasta retrospective" vid that had a similar vibe and this did not disappoint.
hazel is a fucking godsend for recommending this its so fucking good my brain chemistry loves it
This is an incredibly cool concept. I wish we had more Alternate Universe versions of video game series that we could make icebergs of.
Red text from the warning: "worrying about it won't save you"
So I watched this video for the first time back in April, as part of a marathon I was doing of internet horror projects I hadn't seen before - and for some reason, this one got to me the most. Video game horror stories have always impacted me the most, and Pokemon is no exception.
There are three particular things that have stuck with me for close to two months after I first watched/listened to this:
My phone alarm going off just as the first infohazard entry happened had a similar effect lol
"Whatever you do... turn off the video now..."
Me: "I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that."
The difference between this iceberg video's Universe and Our's is that Satoru Iwata manage to... fix 𝗜𝗧.
Maybe because 𝗜𝗧 wasn't as Catastrophic in our Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. Maybe because 𝗜𝗧 couldn't propagate any further thanks to Gold and Silver delevpment Shift with Satoru.

at the same time, many argue that *IT* was the hidden ingredient that made Pokemon get so popular to begin with.
Pokemonument Mythos
it actually filled me with a bit of remorse to hear that in this universe they never expanded shinies past red gyrados.
There's something oddly terrifying about searching a video from a work of fiction, and having it be real.
The "MissigNo is not a glitch!" video is real.
Bravo.
the crazier part, i just talked to krick in his server, it's entirely coincidental. the video matches up almost spot-on, but he just found out that it exists when i sent it
@@Acceleracers7 I'm FREAKING OUT MAN
@@Acceleracers7 Wait, are you serious?
this is better than any "Christmas special", this might be my favorite video yet
@@orochi_08 good ol konami code, last game that i know still has it is Infernax, which ain't even a konami game but still
@@Josuh lmao yea I also tried the Konami code on the d-pad and joysticks
This is genuinely the best pokemon creepypasta I've ever heard. It's just a genuinely good and unique story
They can still at least finish the battle, and the ending dialogue is also strange-- "I think I'll miss you, even after you're gone."
The next weird thing happens in Mt.
Do you think anyone misses you?"
Their Magmaster's name has changed again; it is now the same as the one from the original copy of the game.
"I'M WATCHING YOU."
The post was written in the time it took for the GameBoy's battery to run out.
Ok so
consporacy mokent but
I have a feeling the whole black gunk, screamingpixels.png and Polemans221 are part of the same "story" since they seem distinctively out of the ordinary
I think it's based off of the youtuber tamashiiHiroka, she used to do similar videos where she debunked creepypastas and made tutorials on how to perform glitches. Just a shot in the dark, though.
if this got enough view it could spawn a whole new genre of youtube iceberg videos
Let’s hope it gets popular, Reimuchad
Tbh I feel like if Pokémon was more popular for teens and adults in the beginning of its popularity I think the games would’ve align more on the manga kinda plot and tone for the game
This is the video I was watching when the national emergency alert system test went off. Great way to set myself up for a spook lol
Me when the scary image came up: *scared*
Me a half second later: *squints* "...is that jerma?"
So my theory is the reason that Pokemon is a glitchy cash cow mess in our universe is because Missingno still exists and Nintendo is doing LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN ITS POWER TO PLEASE IT because all the weird satanic panic rumors around Pokemon are TRUE and they don't want Missingno to get mad.
i love how he pronounces missingno like its an actual pokemon name
that was genuinely disturbing, best fucking christmas special i've ever seen
This video would be legit if Satoru Iwata didn't save Pokemon
I guess Iwata fought The Devil in the cartridge and won.
So many cool ideas for actual games that do this stuff, like give people "alternate universe" versions of the game, now that the technology exists.
I had a box of Unknown and when I played Pokemon Stadium 2, there was a Zapdos named Unknown in the box. Wild.
I think there is something really compelling about this idea that all these horrifying things Missingno seems to be responsible for, and the eventual infohazard overtaking people's minds, are the result of the mass obsession with the desire for more creepypastas and lore made manifest.
this video has imbedded itself into my brain. 12/10
I spent a good chunk of the las tpar tof the vidoe just WAITING to either directly or subtly be shown polemans221's remaisn after explicity refusing to like damn that had me UNSETTLED
I remember waking up to find this video playing one night. Something felt wrong every second I was still awake, that’s how I found out about your channel, ever since I’ve been hooked
just wanted to say that ms.fortune and salivemander are very good evolution names wish more people talked about it
I would be a complete different person in this alternate universe; I grew up with Emerald
same here man. it would have just been a few seasons and movies i watched, and just 2 gens? I wouldnt even have had crystal as it was scrapped in that timeline. i definitely wouldnt have been as hard into it as i am here because my favorite parts didn't happen until gens 3-5.
One of my favorite videos ever. Period. Such a cool idea and presented in a compelling way
I think someone once Leaked some data from an earlier build of gen2. and a couple of pallet swap Pokémon with lines related to some “Shiny” event was within it. In fact the 2 currently known Beta’s are ENTIRELY different form the final release.
The buzz cutoff before the red text stuff genuinely scared me
got here from searching "creepypasta essay", watching hazel's video, and from there have been watching your entire channel. so much good stuff but this video especially is very, um, heartwarming? like I'm sure that sounds weird but it's obviously made with love and it also has motivated me to work on some of my personal spoopy projects. thanks man
I did have a weird Pokemon dream once.
Saw this because of hazel's creepypasta explained video and man do I wish there were more thing in this vein
I was genuinely so weirdly unsettled throughout this whole video
At first I didn't realize a majority of the entries weren't real so as I went on watching the video I genuinely started having a crisis I felt so strangely scared "finding out" the game series I had grown up with my whole and have over researched to an obsessive degree had facts that I have never heard about or seen in my entire life
It's such a
Disturbing feeling
Great video though!
I remember having a few lucid dreams about AU versions of pokemon games that had different quirks our universe’s games don’t. Good examples of this would be a version of FRLG where you could fuse your starter with one of the three legendary birds (Venusaur with Zapdos, charizard with moltres, and blastoise with Articuno) in one verse, and the elusive Pokemon Titans who could only be found via hacking in the 3ds games (as well as one hard-to-find ROM hack of HGSS known as FireGold) and had bizarre, almost eldritch abilities such as being able to appear before the player IN REAL LIFE to lay a curse on or even kill them if they lose a battle with the titan in-game in another separate verse
I also remember one dream I had where I saw an ad for a new game from Gen 12 of the series, featuring the gen’s new starters, one of which being a Fire (or was it Water?) type starter that resembled a lion and reminded me a bit of our universe’s Shinx
Good job
I am no spooked.
_I need to find that missingno rant and gunk video_
I was at layer 5 and I tried to enter miniplayer, but it closed the video and for a minute I couldn't find it again lol. Very fitting.
Turns out it was because I was watching it through a discord link and not from my recommended, but that's not very spooky.
I dunno missingno sounds like a pal, seems okay to me to have a spooky buddy that adds more secrets into the game for us to find
seeing our universes krick at the end was strangely comforting... good video!
This is really neat, love the video. I dunno if this is an intentional Easter egg or if it’s a happy coincidence, but Gold and Silver were released after the PNG format’s creation but before its mass adoption after becoming an international standard format. That makes the usage in the supposed screamingpixels.png file MUCH more interesting and almost prophetic, assuming the PNG format history isn’t changed in the alternate universe
it's probably just because he didn't research png history

None of the others ive seen since the mario 64 iceberg have really scratched the itch for me

My friends and i are pokemon fans and we frequently joke about fire breather nick being a serial killer evading capture by the police.
also, im really surprised you didnt mention the anime. i mean i kind of understand, a lot of the episodes have been lost to time, leaving massive gaps in knowledge. still a big part of the series history tho
I Recently discovered 5:40 if you show oak a team of porygon ditto zapdos moltres akicuno and mewtwo he give you the jungle key which opens this door revealing safiri zone pokemon and wild fossils and mew. It make sense why this wasn't found until 2022
good sneak a peak into a universe where me and my best friend are doomed side character's a horror story. changes are I would have been the one leaving behind information for the protagonist use to survive. they might even find my dead body
also nifty little vid dawg.
Haha, I remember Pokemon. I think I was obsessed with it as a kid. It's a shame it ended, but it was an anime tie-in game, so what are you going to do?
Lack of Lavender Town stinger is disappointing
This is where tentaquil comes from
I heard they could be only be found if the player has a wurmple in their party.
Hey Krick, I just found this channel but I’m already enjoying your videos a lot, especially this one! I hope you upload lots of stuff like this in the future, it’s awesome
A video hadn't made me feel goosebumps in a while. Holy shit, everything about this is great; the concept, the entries, and the ending.
Well done.
Grabbed the link to share with some friends, and when I switched to discord, even though the video wasn’t playing, it popped up in the corner.
Spooky.
Hello! I'm here from Hazel.
Hazel recommended this video being a strong inspiration for recent creepypasta vid. So I gotta check this out.
here from hazel, love the video
This is such a cool concept: a trivia video of trivia from another universe...
Also, off-topic, but I love your avatar. Lil :0 face Kricketot.
This is the RUclips video of all time.
5:55 That's a jab at Rock and Ground being separate types, ain't it? :)
Insane video, masterfully done. Thank you.
I REALLY like this. This is so unique. I wish you'd do another if you feel like it.
i think i need a drink
I love this so much. Also I'm sorry I thought you were a Volbeat this whole time I'm stupid lol
Kricketot and Volbeat are a bit similar design wise so i can see that
I think the funniest possible pokemon alternate timeline is where everything is the same but the gen3 female protag is called April instead of May
I need more videos utilizing this concept, this is so clever and well executed
