For 2023 Forrester, I had to lock and unlock the car with the fob first. After reset, the system re downloaded the OTA update and properly installed and fixed.
Hey there, I checked for updates, and the update rebooted the head untit and then said the update “Failed” Then my screen went black with the side menu lights still on. I’ve tried every combination of holding the tune and volume knob and nothing works! Any tips? Disconnect the battery?
Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. I would start with trying to locate the fuse for the radio/navi or infotainment unit and removing and inserting to try to do a short reset, also check if it is not blown. If you have tried all the above, I personally would disconnect the battery for a few minutes and try again. There are a lot of things to remember when you disconnect the battery, you may lose a lot of settings, codes and adaptions. You may also want to wait and drive the car a bit to see if you regain the radio. Lastly Google search your year and model with the words Technical Service Bulletin infotainment update failed, it’s possible the dealer maybe able to address it depending on the model you have and year, lots of Subarus have this issue. Hope this helps! Please share an update, thanks. Lastly anyone else reading this be careful updating your Subaru infotainment units, they often times need to be updated via USB and that is very tricky procedure, proceed with caution.
@ Thank you so much for your prompt reply. Greatly Appreciated. I rang the dealer where I purchased it and they suggested disconnecting the battery 🔋 I asked other than the clock ⏰ is there anything I need to be aware of that may be reset or require resetting and they said no. I’ll follow your tips first before disconnecting the battery. Thanks once again

Thanks a bunch for watching and taking the time to comment. Have you checked your fuses? If you have no power at all you need to check your fuses in both fuse boxes. The fuse boxes will have diagrams indicating what fuse corresponds to what. It maybe a good idea to check your fuses at the same time. Please share an update.

The FM reader and aux cord are in the center console in the middle If you want to play music, you would have to do it through FM reader or an aux cord
