They're not going to waste resources on cases that are hard to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, which doesn't mean the incident didn't take plac.e

I find it hard to believe he committed SA against that woman. While it does appear Hegseth may have a messy love life, the allegation of SA seems rather out of character. The woman who alleged this this told her partner the night of the event that "she did not remember what she was doing, she must have fallen asleep". What would any women say if this statement was from a man? Now if they question his fidelity, he definitely has problems being faithful, though this event even happened after his 2017 divorce, so he wasn't being unfaithful when this occurred. It appears to me that the women he was with was the only one being unfaithful that night, then tried to fix it by claiming she was drugged and raped. I'm sorry but I do not think a guy like Pete has to drug women to get them to sleep with him.

There are different reasons charges would not have been brought, which may have nothing to do with whether anyone determined that the allegations were false. Insufficient direct evidence, or evidence that might not be admissible in court, or prosecutors' assessment that they might not be able to obtain a conviction. Doesn't mean the sexual assault didn't happen.
