- The impact of Queen Elizabeth II's loss is being felt around the world, but as we remember her life and legacy, we look ahead to the transition of power. Ian Lee reports for CBS2.
She was born on 1926, Imagine seeing how much people, tech, religion, just everything has changed throughout all these years.

My Dad passed away last year at 98. He was every bit as on the ball as Queen Elizabeth was. He once told me "my generation is the only one that went from using wash basins and horses and buggies to putting a Man on the moon and carrying a phone in our pockets! It's amazing." 🤔🕵️♂️
That's what I thought about my uncle's neighbor who was born in 1885. When he was 15, no movies, Barely no cars, No airplanes, 35 when radio came in, 42 when talkies came in. Saw the moon landing in 1969. Died in his 90s.

Sometimes I do wonder if all the change is necessarily the best direction. Sometimes simplicity and connection are priceless...and with current technology we are ironically more disconnected than ever.
I have a patient in the hospital right now who was born in 1919, I can only imagine how they feel about the world now.
To put in perspective how long The Queen lived & served, she was born when Coolidge was President, been on the throne since Truman was President, & has been around to see 39% of our country's history.

Yep. End of a tradition left over from a bygone era. Not meaning to say anything negative about Queen Elizabeth, she was great, but I feel like it's time to let go of this symbolic monarchy and "royal family" thing. The death of Elizabeth feels like a pretty good stepping off point to do that.

The monarchy in England is mostly symbolic and ceremonial, they do however select the Prime Minister. The people that actually do the real governing work are the members of parliament which are elected by the citizenry. The constitution of the the UK has succession rules in place to determine the rights of the monarchy and how selections are made.
The monarchy is a symbolic entity in the UK. The power is in hands of the folk, threw democratic chosen leaders, representatives
I remember when I went to London back in the late 1990's and I was reading one of their tabloid papers, The Sun I think, and it had a front page picture of Charles aged with an artist's sketch of what he thought he would look like age wise when he was crowned the king with headline that read in big letters "KING WHO?"
He looked in that 1990's sketch just about like he does in 2022 except that the sketch artist gave him far more wrinkles and even bigger Dumbo sized ears.

I was just in Windsor and the town typically gets going lively pubs and restaurant scene having a good time. It’s a lively place.Apparently last night is was v quiet. I found that interesting.
