The box wedge makes some beautiful pieces, seems worth the extra waste to not handle it a second time

Love that box wedge. It seems like the shielding at the bottom needs some redesigning. I don’t like how the wood spills out the sides before going up the conveyor. Really awesome machine!

I like the box wedge concept for splitting. Yes you get more trash but you can work faster. As Chris , In the Woodyard explains, time is one thing you cant recover!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I had the pleasure of having a 37D coming to my woodyard. I was so consumed with having to move the splits off the catch plate that I didn't even get on the controls
Yeah you’ve gotta have a conveyor for a machine that makes wood this fast
My 22-28 does not have a conveyor. It takes three people to run that machine to efficiently want to load the machine one to keep the controls going and when to get the wood away from the machine very happy with my

I’ve never used one but I think I would have to go with the box wedge. Very fun to watch it operate love the consistency of the splits. Take care Ben.
Very cool that the box wedge can be swapped with a 6 way. Many splitter designs I have seen it’s only one or the other, not both
Adam - Ya kno how most channels have a weekly theme? For you, what about 'Firewood Fridays.' Even if you only make a few totes, having that weekly goal to get a few minutes out might be beneficial. You could continue with projects dropping as you finish those videos, but having a standing timeslot for your 'Friday Firewood Fix' might be good for continuity, piquing our interest, getting those hooks in. And maybe you could do a fun little video/meme review of other channels' Follies & Fails related to Firewood. Food for thought. Keep up the good work. Ty

I've noticed over a couple of videos, that the pads on the conveyor appear to be mounted backwards. The square edges should be uphill to catch the logs.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great video as always I have an Eastonmade 22-28 I have a four-way six way and a box wedge I work by myself most of the time in the box wedge absolutely the only way to go people complain about the scrap. I look at it this way. This is what happens when you run round peg through a square hole, the quality the firewood is so much better with the box very consistent. That’s why I get top dollar for my firewood just like you do.
Good morning Adam, Nice side by side comparison. Box wedge split into trailer and stacked into totes, put a tarp down under the trailer door to catch all the small debris and you can separate out the kindling..

2 guys sawing and one guy in the excavator is the way to go if u can do it. Goes super quick the log deck dissappear fast, and the rounds pile grows exponentially!

Good job Adam! I got to use the STK conveyors into Log Lift bags this weekend for the first time. It worked well but some of the wood was punky

Heavy Hitch, Good Works Tractors, and I'm sure a few more companies make a suitcase weight bracket that's Quick Hitch compatible. They all have a 2" receiver built into them, along with various other amenities. That might be a useful alternative to the ballast box since you won't need the ballast when moving the trailer. It'd be interesting to use a WeighSafe or scale and see what the actual tongue weight when you've got the trailer loaded like that.

What a machine, love the efficiency. The diesel engine is a great addition. I'm curious about the difference in diesel consumption, I guess the box wedge would use more, because of friction with the horizontal part. Anyone here also watching Andy's Offgrid garage? Music at 8.16 😂
Would be nice to have a peice of metal sticking out past the hinge on the part of the converyor with the wheels so you could add a hand crank winch to the conveyor top part then back to the splitter part of the conveyor so that as you lower it you can crank the winch to kick out the conveyor part with the wheels.

You should fab something that goes over both forks when moving heavy stuff. One bump and your fork gets tweaked and uneven forks are a pain.

If your planning on respliting all the wood from the 6 way it would definitely make more sense to just use the box wedge.. the amount of scrap is definitely worth the time saved
The box wedge definitely makes more wood in the size that you prefer. All depends on the user's firebox size, I like the larger ones from the 6 way, less pieces, and more time in between reloading the stove when burning. I definitely would work on a way to have less split wood falling off the left side when you're by yourself... maybe a project for Doug...

The box wedge definitely looks like it saves time. When I started watching I thought the six way would be better, but I was surprised to say the least.
The second wedge it looks much better
I can see how it would make a nice salable product - particularly for bundles, but that box wedge makes the pieces too small for me. I like a mix of larger and smaller splits for the wood stove.
The height of the box wedge is adjustable so you can make larger pieces.
Depends on who is handling it at the fire. Feeble old ladies couldn't throw those big pieces into an outdoor wood furnace. But my brother loads his furnace with small stuff on the coals, then 3' long x 18" rounds on top.
Did you retire the Kioti? I bet you'll buy this tractor after the testing is done.

Load the front of the trailer, then the back and finally the center, no need to unhitch the tractor. Cheers,,,,
Good Afternoon Adam, you have a sweet process setup. Are you accomplishing your full Basket Goals with this setup or are there alternatives you still need to tweak. I’m with you the box blade looks that it’s closer to a Costumer Valued End Product than the Splits accomplished with the Four Way Wedge. 😀👍👍👍

Firewood on the right, camp wood on the left? Having done most of my splitting with a maul, that box wedge stuff looks almost like kindling, to me. :)
So the 6 way wedge for the smaller logs and then you would probably be pretty good if you had a 8 way wedge for the big stuff

You're a math guy. I'd love to see the dollars per hour of making more scrap vs double touching the wood. To me, it seems it would come out way more in favor of the extra scrap. Assuming of course maximizing firewood per pole is not the limiting factor (such as you have no more wood once this stuff is gone). I know you value your time above all because it is the one thing you can never get more of.

Box wedge is def the way to go, the size and shape of the smaller logs is def going to be better for the random firewood consumer. Doing both is the real answer, but box wedge for the win, extra scrap be damned. Give the scrap away in little bundles as kindling or something.
It seems to me that you use the six way and then use the axis to resplit, handling it twice or use the the box wedge handling it once and deal with slash 🤷 I think it comes down to what you want your fire wood to look like and how many times you want to touch the wood. Either way it's preference and and your time available.
When we split firewood by hand, we were religious about sharpening our splitting axes and wedges. Made the work easier and faster. I wonder if sharpening your wedges would have the same effect. It's basically the same action just one is mechanical and the other is physical 🤷
You should dig a hole similar to a loading dock at a building,the depth of the height of the table so you can just roll the rounds onto the table. My back hurts watching you bend over.
Do they make a seven or eight way wedge for that wood splitter that would give you maybe smaller chunks and not so much debris or Kinlin
Hey, Adam was just wondering if you have sharpened the cutting edges on your box wedge? I'm not sure if it was, sheik or who but somebody did it to their box widge and they got less slash off of it.
Fill the centre of the trailer first. Then it will be more even and not all the load on the tongue.

Any reason why you couldn't leave the conveyor up to move it in your yard the short distance? Seems it would be easier for one person. Box wedge does the nicest pieces of firewood.
You probably could but I’m still getting to know the machine and I don’t know where it balance point is yet. Didn’t want to have negative tongue wait and have the whole thing tip the wrong way
Maybe try loading the other way around . you've got all the weight on the front.with duals the trailer shouldn't flip it'll just lighten up the front some.to much junk on the box wedge.i would never buy that.but we heat homes more here in mi.
