- In this series, we'll check out Turtle WoW as a High Elf Mage.
We'll be reading the quests, and setting an immersive tone.
In case you didn't know, there is a time difference of 12 hours between Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms.
They say this is the hardest starting zone.
you can learn the survival profession in STV where Brann and company are. it's a profession that let's you create torches and tents to increase your rested xp, pretty useful.
Loving the journey Robert, keep it up!
Edit: a few classes got quite a few changes to make them "viable" (paladins getting crusader strike, tank shaman being a thing now, feral druid weapons scaling, boomkin being playable) and a few other classes just got minor changes to certain abilities or talents that were kinda useless or not good. Overall, most classes in Twow are playable and much better than in vanilla, with the few exceptions still being outstanding, those being warrior and rogue. i think it's very fun to see the changes on each class and spec, or you can check the page for each of the changes.
Love how he started to keep his eyes peeled for quests. 😁
Dont worry about the deaths, yesterday i started a high elf hunter. I died so many times its not even funny anymore. Their starting zone is probably the hardest one(even OG players there are saying that). Anyways gl and maybe one day we will meet there (probably both as a spirit in the realm of death :D).
yes i have done this as a mage and i think i had as many deaths 1-10 as i did 11-60. I did see a hunter complaining on the forums about it also.
I am enjoying the new lore and the home of the high elves!! This is great!!!
I love the in game radio for turtle wow.
Survival is a proffession you can learn in STV in the camp! And if Im not mistaken its getting reworked in the next patch. You can go on their website and read about the class changes there! But I think druid, priest, shamans and paladins got the most changes. Like retribution paladin and boomkins are actually pretty good now and there is some very nice changes to protection paladin aswell, they get a taunt and more. I have played Turtle wow on and off for a few years now but I mainly played on my paladin and loved the changes. All classes have gotten changes basically, some more than others, but it feels way more balanced than it did in original vanilla. Like no matter what spec & class you pick, you wont feel left out... Warlocks is not just spamming shadow bolts and applying dots anymore, its more to it.
I knew I didn’t hear the sound fx for accepting the skinning prof
Currently playing a Self Found HC, if I get to 60 (gotta be confident lol) or die, I'm definitely going to try out this server and try a High Elf Priest!
Enjoyed the first part looking forward to this one too!
Just started on turtle a couple of days ago. Been a nostalgiac ride so far. Lots of fun
Hey Rob!
I want to say you can start in any level 1 starter zone as alliance. I recommend getting on the boat to stormwind. If you run into the main city of Alah Thalas and get on the boat it’ll take you to Darkshore and then when you get off the boat in Darkshore turn right at the first right you see. You can take the boat to stormwind from Darkshore.
Deaths are hard, but mages get so much easier as you get higher level. Easier to maintain bigger pulls with CC. You'll have teleportation, as you mentioned, and being able to conjure your own food and water.
46:08 I think i love the verbose nature of the High Elves. It seems fitting, especially higher ranks like Vereesa
Absolutely love these rambles ❤
Loving this turtle WoW content, can't wait for new uploads.
This mode looks more difficult. Goodluck
Only unfortunate aspect fo turtle wow is that the client version it is based on is very very old and unoptimized. The rest absolutely phenomenal!
I installed this after seeing your videos. Wandered around lost for a long time. Then I installed some add-ons. You should try it.
Twow did make several class changes. You will probably notice more between levels 20-30 both in abilities you gain and talent changes. Paladin got buffed all around from the vanilla version. All specs are pretty good. Most of the Mage changes are to make Arcane actually good. You'll eventually get Baquet Table. Druids got their forms from later expansions, Moonkin and Tree. Buffs to tank Shaman. Changes to Priest Racal abilities. Honestly, too many tweaks on every class to list here. I know that some of their decisions change some things were based on Warcraft III abilities.
what are High Elf racials? anything usefull?
@@mathenis arcane resistance buff, a mana or health regeneration buff depending on class, Bow specialization, enchanting buff.
Looking forward to the next episode!
This is making me want to play some turtle wow
Going to have to get in there soon
I would like for you to finish off that new high elf starter zone and see were they spit you out at once you are done, if you still think the mage is the wrong choice then roll a paly or priest.
Keep up the great streams!
Paladin is always the right choice - never forget that! 😆
52:50 you can see some of those tents in BE camps when questing around Netherstorm...I think that applies to the siege weapons too, but in a different coloring
The building you didn't recognize is from MoP Isle of Thunder Dawnseeker Promontory
It’s kind of wild when you think about it. Blizzard should be doing stuff like this for season of discovery.💡
25:44 We appreciate the honest RUclipsrs, mate. Keep it authentic.
Loving it. It's nice to see all the exploration and new discoveries.
Cool series. Not using ad on’s allso makes it even more vanilla like back in the day.
If you like dark/immersion try the darker nights patch!!
Perfect 🎉
Our guild in turtle wow recently did a guild event where we have to get to the northern part of darkshore on an hc high elf toon, its possible to get through all mobs as a lvl 1 to capital city, not saying its easy with the mob density but its definetley possible :)
honestly it just sounds like windrunner wants to be dictator
The music is so lovely! :U
This is awesome, how are they allowed to do this and how do they do it so well..? More more more!!
Rambles this is great!
I agree with you re: quest text too verbose. I feel like they're going for a "High Elf fancy" aesthetic way of speaking, but I think it could be pared back a smidge
nice
Question,I used to play on turtle but i quit because I couldnt fix resolution and graphics settings, did you imported anything so you can have better graphics?
Turn the resolution all the way up even if you’re only on a 1080 monitor. This acts like render scaling does in the modern wow client. Also, make sure to run the game from the WoWFoV.exe and not the WoW.exe.
Racial abilities?
dont go priest. stick with the mage. challenge is fun

"how are the classes"
they are okay.
"are they like they were in vanilla"
yes, but not like classic.
in vanilla there were lots of patches which shifted the ballance around. random classes were overpowered or underpowered. but they were close enough it was not rage inducing.
what turtle has does is make all specs largely viable but not entirely. they kept to some of the bad design aspects of vanilla.
in vanilla if you wanted to play a mage and raid you needed to be a specific spec. they opened it up but haven't made fire mage pve viable- as of the last time i played.
however other specs like ret and feral druid have recieved quite a bit of love.
i might be confusing my private servers, but presuming i'm not, the monk spec for priests is underdeveloped. it is fine as a spec, but it doesn't feel like a monk. like the way you play it doesn't fit the theme, and is a bit like the retail monk class.
Without PvP it's just boring as f
