I second RJBargee, your video is the best on the net because you take your time to do it properly, and the closeups are really helpful and this is what makes your video better than the others. Thanks a lot, your work is really clean and it´s nice to see you working.
Greetings from Pennsylvania - I own a small Mac repair shop in Camp Hill (Macs N PCs ) and came across this video. THANK YOU for taking your time and providing such nice close ups, they are much appreciated to help me show not only clients but potential trainees. I look forward to more!
Hi Andrew, yes we try and get some good close ups to make it easier for people to figure out how to attempt a repair. Also don't forget to rip out all those keyboard rivets with the auto punch. Cheers MBK
Love the video! One suggestion - perhaps put the heat gun in the list of tools needed. Thanks for the straightforward video - organized very well and thoroughly detailed with fantastic and clear close-ups!
Literally a million times better than any other video. The microscopic/zoomed in view is a godsend. I wish I saw this before I first tried opening my mac up. I didnt see the little lock on the microphone cable and sort of cracked the edge of the lock that holds the cable down. Got scared and put it back together and thank god its still running fine. I really dont want to have to replace the I/O board, but this video will help so much once I decide to get back in there (gonna get one of those spudger tools, they seem super helpful)
Hi Raheel, good on you for giving it a crack. I am not perfect myself and have broken connectors as well. Do not forget to get an Automatic centre punch, and remove all rivets properly. Its great to see people giving things a go, not even Apple does this, they just replace the "Top Case". Congratulations, you are beyond an "Apple Genius".
This is the best video on the matter I've seen, and I appreciate the closeups. I'm still swithering over if I'll do this for a dodgy 'a' key, it still kind of works........
Hi RJBargee, thx for the feedback. We try and do all those closeup shots to make it easier. If it was a "z" or "x", you could probably holt of on a keyboard change. Its allways those vowel keys A E I O U, that break first. Cheers goodluck
thats a lot of work just to swap the keyboard, so many steps that can go wrong. guess i just sell it with a fault. thanks for the video. u saved me hours of frustration
Excellent video, I watched a few videos before attempting the keyboard replacement and yours is by far the most comprehensive - the close ups are especially useful to someone who is not familiar with the inner workings. What do I do with all the left over parts though...
Thank you for the excellent video. I have 5 rivets that did not came out completely. Do you think that will give me a probleme fixing the new keyboard? Can I put some glue maybe on these spots?
The replacement keyboards are fairly close. But there may be slight differences in the scissor mechanism under the keys. I always keep the old keyboards, so if I need to do a quick key swap, I have enough dead keyboards to steal parts from. Cheers MBK
MBK Upcycle Thank you so much for the reply, was asking because my keyboard itself isn’t broken I just need keys and the cheapest option is a whole keyboard so was wondering if you could take the keys off the replacement and use them on the original. Thank you so much for the help! Subscribed
Tell me please. MacBook 15 2015 keys do not work (RTYUIO) and E does not work well, are there any repair options without replacing them with a new keyboard? Thank you in advance!
You will have to replace the keyboard. The keyboard electrical connections are set out in rows and columns. You have lost a row. If its the macbook pro 15 2015, that can be a bit of a pain because you have to remove a glued in battery, to access the keyboard.
@@Repair2Renew YYes! It was under the letter E that moisture was further broken the road to the rest of the letters (not opening the keyboard completely, only removed the button, carefully cut the layers and put wire and foil) and everything worked! under the letter E that moisture was further broken the road to the rest of the letters (not opening the keyboard completely, only removed the button, carefully cut the layers and put wire or foil) and everything worked!
Warning: Check carefully, right side speaker connector may not be undone by lifting but by gentle pulling. Lifting may lift housing off as well and break tiny pin connectors on board.
Go through the whole video first, do not skip any steps. If you have a mechanical aptitude and feel confident, give it a go. But always at your own risk !!!!
@@Repair2Renew I succeeded perfectly, partly thanks to you, but for the rivets, I don't understand why you did this with this tool: they come off very well just with a small pliers (for the Ecig coils) while turning . thank you !
@@RedandGoldUntilamDeadandCold Sometimes the keyboard rivets are easy, sometimes they are hard. The reason we use the tool, is to make sure "all" rivets come out, so the job is done properly.

Wow, thanks Guilherme much appreciated.
The fact that this video has sections saved me so much time, thank you so much!
Glad it helped! It's easier than watching through the whole video.
Huuuge thanks Sir. The best, detailed, without useless words instructions on how to fix your own keyboard. God bless you!

Good point miksel, sometimes it is easier to sell faulty macbook.

You video is very concise and at a great pace.
Please keep it up! Thank you for sharing
Thanks Raymond, much appreciated

What do I do with all the left over parts though...
You can throw them out, but sometimes it is useful to keep the old keyboard, replacement "keys" can come in handy!!
Really well done great detail thanks very much!
No problem 👍
Thank you for the excellent video. I have 5 rivets that did not came out completely. Do you think that will give me a probleme fixing the new keyboard? Can I put some glue maybe on these spots?
As long as the rivets are not next to each other. But you can also sharpen an Auto punch as per the video, then completely remove the last 5 rivets.
Great video, was able to replace keyboard but now I have vertical lines on my screen. Any ideas?
Does the screws penetrate through the little holes left after taking the rivits? EXCELLENT video
Yes they do. They tap into the Aluminum of the top cover.
Thank you!!! Very Nice
Thank you too!
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Rafael !!!
Great video! Thank you!
Hey thanks Thomas, glad you liked it.
Such a helpful video 👍 from me. Subbed!
Thanks for the sub! I HOPE IT HELPS YOU "sh0"
Hi! Are replacement keyboards the same as the originals? Like can the individual keys be taken off the replacement and used on the original keyboard?
The replacement keyboards are fairly close. But there may be slight differences in the scissor mechanism under the keys. I always keep the old keyboards, so if I need to do a quick key swap, I have enough dead keyboards to steal parts from.

The shutdown prompt keeps popping up every couple of seconds unless I continue to press any key. Any idea how to fix this?
Thank you
You're welcome, I hope the video helped you out !!!

Good suggestion Noah, but unfortunately it will not be filmed anytime soon.
