Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. My brother is currently in basic training, graduating in January. I'm debating having the hotel shuttle drive us to base (then walking) vs driving there myself (figuring out parking). Any suggestions based on your experience? Thanks a bunch!
joanna salas we had the hotel shuttle is to base the day of my brothers graduation. But based on my experience I would definitely take my own car and drive. Just get there very early because parking does tend to fill up quickly
Was active duty 85 to 91 and active reserves 2000 to 06 ( Master at Arms ). I think its awesome when at RTC recruits get to learn and shoot. I didnt get to until A school. The new working uniform looks great MUCH better than the working whites and the blueberries which were a huge mistake wil be phased out soon. Hopefully your brother is doing well and taking advantage of every the Navy has to offer.
Josias Lopez we spent two day with him so basically just the weekend , what we didint know was that we could have spent maybe 2 more days with him at most. And we spent about 6 hours with him graduation day before he had to go back to the base.

I know they give you a probable date but when did you get a concrete one? Also what hotel did you stay at and how much earlier did you go to the graduation to get a good seat? Thank you in advance!
You're welcome ! We knew the date about 1 month before so pretty late and I suggest you go hours and hours ahead of the scheduled time like 5 am so you can get a good seat in your sailors section

+series25a well airport I have to say that's personal preference, just do your research and you will find it and hotel the best western in gurnee Waukegan area is close to the Naval base. And we were at the gates at 6 am the earlier the better so you can get to your sailors section quickly the place tends to get packed fast. And if your talking airport always get there 2-3 hours before your intended take off.

In my opinion You should do your own research about the hotels nearby but then again I don't have the best knowledge of the navy lodge just do your research and make the best choice for you. And no I was there around 7 am.and my seat wasn't the greatest. The gates opened around 6:30 am and the ceremony officially began at 9 am. But for a good seat in your sailors section be there early.

Cristian Silva we were allowed 4 tickets in total for the graduation. But your daughter should be able to tell you exactly how many she can invite to her graduation it can all depend on how many graduates there will be. But 4 is usually the number allowed. The good thing is your other family members will be able to see the graduate during her liberty hours .

We drove from California to Chicago...then Great Lakes. Its was so nice to these young kids graduating. Best wishes to all of them.

Sandra Silva every recruit is allowed 4 tickets but sometimes it goes down to 3 if there’s a lot of recruits graduating
