Just got the s16 I ordered after watching your video and it’s lovely ! I tried it on granblue, jojo hftf and dark stalkers and I can already see that I’m getting better after only 2 days. It’s frightening how easy it is to input fast combos, a world of difference between this and my old Sanwa stick. The product looks and feels excellent too. For less than 60$ this is crazy value
I dunno why I'm watching this video, you already convinced me to buy the T16 awhile ago Chris! Although I was looking at the S16 as well. Great video as always !
@Chris_F Thanks for these videos. I got the T 16 on my own, but more people need to know how great they are. I didn't like the little one, my hands are way too big lol. The S16 would be great for kids though.
Great review. It was one of the reasons I finally buy the S16, and I have to say, the control is really fantastic. All I need now is that someone, somehow, manages to add the two analog sticks to the sides, so you can play Ranked and WorldTour mode in the same controller, XD.
I highly recommend a right angle usb c cable for the S16. It doesn't interfere with my keyboard while using the top usb port. For using it on your lap I can recommend having a clipboard or plastic chopping board with some kind of grippy material underneath so you it won't slide around.
Great review Chris! I own both, S13 is more comfortable for me because the buttons aren't that separated like the T16. But if you're planning to use it on your lap you will prefer the T16 or like Chris look for some kind of base for your S leverless
Distance between buttons on T16 is too much unless you have paws for hands, that's why the standard has always been all 24 button + 30 for jump. We need a bigger S16 so we can lap play with it, T16 buttons ain't comfortable for medium hands. I had to return mine because of it and couldn't be happier with my S16
I think I have smaller than average hands and I don’t have an issue with the T16. That’s why I’m glad that many companies are offering different models since we all have different preferences!
Wholeheartedly agree. I have smallish hands and the T16 buttons are just way too large and far apart for me. Ended up getting a S16 instead and I'm loving it. I play on my desk anyways and try to not rest my wrists too much.
This is why I went with the S16 too. I have medium sized hands with long, slender fingers. I had a feeling the bigger buttons and spread-out layout of the T16 would be more uncomfortable than the smaller buttons and more compact layout of the S16. I got my S16 in last week, and I definitely made the right choice. Take it with a grain of salt, but rumor has it that Haute42 is working on a larger version of the S16. If and when that releases, I'll be sure to pick one of those up as well.
I have no plan to go on tournaments, I want a leverless that I can put on a table and never on my thighs. With those conditions I can see that the S16 really ticks the boxes. But here's my question. I heard that it was really small. Even smaller than a Snackbox Micro. I have big hands. Is that going to be an issue? I was happy seeing your video because I was able to see actual hands playing on it. That said I am still not sure if I my hands will fit on it in the sense that my fingers will be too scrunched up together using it.
It is indeed smaller than the snackbox micro. If you have big hands, you might find this too small for you. You can check the dimensions and try drawing it on a sheet of paper to get a general feel for the size. Better than spending money on something you don’t like!
I just ordered the t16 so I'd have something to play on besides my custom board (which is so nice looking I'd have to use it at offlines but I'd rather beat it up a little less at home). This looks nice and I'm curious about your review but for my hands I know t16 is what I'm looking for. Good video as always.
Curious if you can add an extra input. Would I be able to make the extra button above my “1” input a second bind for the another directional input? For example could I make that button an extra ➡️ input so I could use it for SOCD
Hi Chris, thank you so much for your awesome review. I go through the capcom rule 4.2.2. it states: Directional keys, levers, and move buttons that allow movement actions and analog sticks can coexist and be installed. However, movement actions with analog input must be input as analog information. For example, it is not allowed to convert the analog stick into a button or lever, or any other mechanical capability. Is it not allowed to use the LS RS function of s16 at the end of the video?
I feel like fight sticks are good when they are super heavy but the haute go the opposite route... what's your take on weight of your stick? is heavy better or is light better?
Heavy is good until a TSA agent is asking you to empty your bag after a 10h flight saying things like “fightin’ games huh? I used to be pretty nice at Simpsons Wrestling”. Serious answer: I prefer heavy controllers if it has a lever (especially Korean battop) since there’s more arm strength going into it. A leverless controller is totally ok even if it’s light bc you should be playing it like a piano, gently.
@Chris_F does the controller have noticeable input lag on ps5 using a brooks adapter? I just ordered the t16 and im worried about that. It sounds like it doesnt effect you since u said u play in tournies?
In a technical sense yes it does add a tiny bit lag but in practice it’s nothing worth being worried about. I would, however, suggest getting some combo warm up on a ps5 before your tournament matches start IF you’re a PC player like me just bc PS5 is trash
@@Chris_F Thank you! I have been using the victrix pro fs-12 and was worried not having native ps5 support would be awful and cause a lot of input lag. Sounds like that wont really be an issue?
Good stuff mate. I love my s16 and surprisingly don't have any issues with the small size on my knees. Mind you I'm pretty small 😅 I have no doubt I'd like the extra space of the T16 too though 🫡
Personally, I’d go with the T16. You WILL need a ps5 adapter with either of these, but even with the adapter, it’s still an inexpensive choice and good quality IMO
Keyboards don’t have adjustable SOCD options which make these types of controllers a big draw for competitive players. Sorry you didn’t find it useful, this was more a comparison review than a full review
@@Chris_FOh no need to apologise! It’s just, your gameplay videos whilst short are technical and focused- I like that… getting into the details of things and I was expecting the same for the review, but it’s all good! 👍🏼
@TwistedSoul2002 thx! I have a new review coming up which will be more in depth. The S16 and the T16 are very similar outside of side, so I just went for a simple comparison video with this one

Happy S16 user here. Totally agree with your review. Nice content on your channel, thanx for sharing your knowledge
Thanks for watching! I think its a great little controller

And thank you!!
Looking forward to watch your matches at Evo! 😊
@hopelesound thanks man! Been super busy making these videos so I haven’t been able to practice as much as I’d like but I’ll do my best!

nice review mate, short and straight to the point 🔥
Thank you!
I got the G16 about a week ago and I LOVE IT!!
I haven’t tried that one yet, curious to try tho
I just got it yesterday, it feels so good
I have a G16 and T16 very different button feel between the two.
I have no plan to go on tournaments, I want a leverless that I can put on a table and never on my thighs. With those conditions I can see that the S16 really ticks the boxes.

You can set any button to anything you want!
2:48 resting your wrists on the controller, desk, etc is less ergonomic. floating your wrists is much better practice
Guilty of not being ergonomic haha

You mean the part where I’m playing Tekken? That setting is legal for Tekken tournaments but very not legal for street fighter tournaments

This is the exact controller ive been considering
I really like it! Only real negative is lap play without a DIY board like I mentioned
I love the non slip pads you used for grip what are they by chance ? Tried looking some up and couldn’t find the ones like that!
Just got these at the dollar store here in Osaka. They’re non slip pads for household furniture, nothing fancy!

S16 is a banger. Seriously, Genius product.
It’s my favorite for playing on the road or in bed on my laptop. So good!
Get a magic boot instead I hate the fgc wingman sticking out … even tried an usb extension and eventually worked its way out
Would this be a good pick to learn leverless on?
Absolutely as long as you are ok with the small size
what do you need to replace the buttons after they break?
What broke, the plastic key cover or the internal key switch?
Are the buttons the same size? And are the buttons too big to use for WASD format?
Yes they are all smaller buttons other than the jump button.
I don’t play WASD style but I feel like it would be possible bc of the small size
ordered mine for $50. Waiting for ship to finally play on tourneys being a keyboard main.
Let me know what you think once you try it, I’d love to know!
Bith have same size buttons ?

I ordered one since I got small ass hands. I hope I can use it on my lap comfortably
Thanks man! Glad you like it!
The dollar store is your friend
Can I put Cherry MX Red switches into that thing?
No you can’t unfortunately. Only low profile switches will work with this model. The G16 model uses full profile switches
@@Chris_F I see. Thanks, bro.
Which one is the best one for PS5 and using on lap?

What you're talking about is being paid to promote a product...which isn't the case here.
