Kirin wasn't part of that group. And they already have the whole set. That's why there's 4 of them. Dragoon is Seiryu, Draunzer is Suzaku, Draciel is Genbu, and Driger is Byako. Yeah, V-Force is a bit undercooked. Neat ideas here and there, but some poor execution because they keep switching things and repeat a lot of things.
I am one of the few that did like Hilary back then because I thought she and Tyson looked like a cute couple together. Still do, really. She’s the one who really balances Tyson out when he rides his ego high.
Speaking of Tyson, I do think that him being extra immature makes sense. He is still just a kid. He isn’t disciplined and serious like Ray or Kai, and he doesn’t exactly have the relatively stable family like Max does. If anything, I’d argue that a kid being back home to a peaceful life where his only family is grandpa and his only friend is Kenny, Tyson probably feels like he needs to hold onto what gave him the happiest moments, so he holds onto Beyblading and takes his new title all the way. It’s a little sad when you think about it in hindsight. What else is a kid to do?
So it makes sense that Tyson needs to regain some of the stuff he learned after last season.

Imagine the Russian Beyblade programme from season one, but not settled in a dignified fashion through an official stadium match. That's V-Force's plot. You still have your Beyblade battles, but they're 100% illegal or at least much seedier and weighted against the Bladebreakers.
Tyson does get a bit of a hard kick in the early episodes when Ozuma (in the dub he's called Mr. X before his name is revealed) beats him again when Dragoon doesn't answer Tyson when he needs him. It's also the first time Hilary glimpses the deal with blading and what it means to Tyson when she sees the fight and then sees him on his knees and silent, defeated, similar to what happened with Ray in Asia when Driger deserted him. Then, in one of the next episodes, Kenny and Hilary are abducted, and Tyson is made to sprint from place to place - with no time for rest - in an effort by the bad guys to get him to summon Dragoon before pitting him against that robot. And it's then that he finally gets Dragoon to answer him again.
I think Hilary is one of the best things to get introduced in V-Force. This series, or at least these early episodes, is her arc that does everything to explain how she ends up as BBA's manager in the next season. She does so much work for the team dynamic in both seasons, especially for Tyson.

I actually really liked v force for several reasons but the first arc is weak.
The end of the cyber storyline shapes up to be pretty good and the rock arc is really fun and introducing a lot of interesting lore.
My biggest issue with v-force is that when G-rev starts, with the exception of Hillary, all characters and concepts get more or less abandoned.
On top of that v- force includes very few instances of revisiting old non-blade breaker characters.
It's almost set up like a alternate timeline but it isn't and that bothers me a lot.
The areas where v- force shines though are
    Bit beast fights
    Bit beast lore
And less focus on tournament style story structures.
There are also a handful of great v-force only characters that for some reason will never be seen again sadly.

But going back and re-watch all of the original beyblade as an adult the issues I had with V-Force was just how it went a bit to far with the bit beast element. Tho present in S1 it wasn't as much as it became in V-Force, something I didnt notice as a kid in G-Revolution is they must have realized that because it was a massive over-correction. They went from bit beast appearing during battles in S1 for a bit final attack to summoning their bit beast in V-Force to the bit beast not really appearing besides representations of the beyblades clashing.

Beyblade V-Force is good but there are a lot of unanswer question like about everything had happen in the series like what became of the stolen ancient rock were it contain bit-beasts now that Zagart gave up his goal of capturing the Bladebreakers Bit Beast. I would also like to know it's fate the same goes for other charaters who disappeared for unknown reason like Slim & Fatso(Gideon's henchmen), Dan (Doctor K's Assistant) and Doctor K herself. The biggest question of all is has Queen's Gabriel return to her after her beyblade is destroyed.

In fairness of Tyson going back on his ego trip, that's not in of itself bad. Ben 10 kinda emphasized that being a kid hero being showered with success after all the trials and tribulations does get into your head despite previous lessons and mentor figures showing how bad their ego can get.
That's why in Ultimate and Alien Force, the only thing that really changed for Ben himself was being more experienced in fights and more accepting of lessons he needs to learn.
While I don't have a precise memories of the series, I do remember that they at least try to make Ty realize that he can't be a team player if all he does is wine and complain. Especially if he himself is on too much of an ego trip to comprehend that he himself has goofed-up a lot.

Yeah I remember growing up, excited for what’s to come for V-Force only to get 1 episode as a preview on YTV as the episodes after are still needed to be dubbed. After watching the entire season, it wasn’t what exactly I was hoping for, and that all comes to an unfocused narrative since the anime is done by a different studio. Thankfully they figured it out from the start of G-Rev.

Once you get through the beginning slog of V-Force, it starts to pick up. there are some alright episodes in the beginning, some of which you've seen already, but blow past that beginning. G-Revolution is the goat, quite possibly the favorite of the offerings of the OG series, its got my favorite designs for the Blade Breakers, and it brings in the gimmick that would be used for an entire generation (the hard metal system, which is expanded on and the basis of the entire Metal Saga, which is the generation of beyblade I grew up with and know the most about), I'd love to see you continue on since awhile ago i went on my own journey, not out of nostalgia but mainly from curiosity to see what came before the metal saga. I would also love to see your perspective on the Metal Saga in the future if you are interested in that, because it would be fun to see the perspective of the anime I grew up with from the perspective of someone who grew up with the original series. The Metal Saga much like the Plastic Gen is also just up on youtube, as is, completely free to watch if you get that far. As for G-Revolution, if you decide to cover that series, then I will give you a fair warning that that series' playlists are scuffed, however I do have a playlist with the full episode order, organized and made public, and if you do get that far, I will send the link just for ease of viewing. Plastic Gen is really fun, I'm so glad that I went back to watch it, even with the beginning slog that was V-Force, this video was an interesting watch, yeah that's all I gotta say lmao.

But getting off track I have enjoyed watching your journey through Beyblade and look forward to seeing more of your reactions to it for better and worse of this season. Also to note with Wyatt in the japanese he is implied to have died where in the dub he felt like he wasn't the same again. Which honestly I find the dub more believable than him straight up dying in the japanese I find it screwed up, tho really does show how much Psykick is just ruthless.

The thing about V Force is unlike the first season where the story is mostly focused on the main characters growing, V Force is more about the Bit Beasts and the lore. Past episode 16 is where this show begins to pick up nonstop going forward.

It's true that it's not the best season, but I really liked the "team" aspect of this season. They were constantly together and I really liked that part

Hillary and gideon are soid characters, seriously hillary really works to add to the dynamic. including her being pushy actually helping them keep motivatig them as counter when it gets darker. She kinda is comic relief too. And she adds to kenny with them bickering.
and thank god gforce does handle hios tyson has to be humbled bit at the start.

I’m always curious to see people’s takeaways from V-Force. It has its moments, but a lot of it falls flat by the end. It’s like Dragonbal GT - cool concepts, bad execution. I remember reading some fan comments about why V-Force is the way it is because it got ahead of the manga, so they had to make ideas off the fly. I’m not sure how true this is, though. Finding sources and quotes feels like a lot of fan hearsay.
Yeah, Tyson’s just the worst here. I remember my first rewatch of the dub and by episode 7 I had had it with his attitude. I know one of Tyson’s lesser used character traits is that he has a hard time making friends, but V-Force doesn’t go into this nuance and makes Tyson an elitist jerk. I think this is why people don’t like Hilary despite not really doing anything wrong. She’s just tied to Tyson’s bad attitude. That said, I really wished the show did more with Hilary because she unfortunately becomes the token girl character despite having her moments. Seriously, let her rock with the boys.
I think people should be a fan of V-Force. Just because it has a lot of holes doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time talking about it. I’m seriously down for the Cyber bit beasts arc. It’s V-Force’s best. It still has its flaws, but I think it’s still enjoyable and that’s okay.
Anyway, thanks for seeing V-Force through! These videos have been great and it has gotten me to check your other stuff! :)

I have mixed feelings on the new art style in V Force, it makes Tyson & the others look younger than the original. I know they're kids in the show, but the original didn't make them just look like a group of kids. I watched V Force back in the day, & honestly didn't remember too much outside some main story points. I wasn't til the introduction of the Cyber Bit Beasts that it started getting interesting in my opinion. If there was 1 arc that I remember pretty well, it would be the 1 towards the end of V Force. I won't spoil it for now, for those who haven't seen it, but it was an arc that just stuck with me.

Please keep reviewing beyblade. I hate suspense, plus I wasn't able to even finish episode 1 of v-force, because I got so much second hand embarrassment from Tyson when he was being cocky about being the world champion and was about to battle the hooded kid, like I could feel he was about lose and make fool of himself. After hearing your review it lowered that sense of second hand embarrassment for me, so I know I can push on with the show.

Honestly as much as I do feel V-Force is more of a spot that was not as great as it could be (I know that the 3D Blades from here on were just better for budgeting reasons, and it kind of makes me wish that they considered cel-shading the Beyblades to make them look less awkward in 3D), it is still a fine enough series, albeit it kind of ends up feeling like a side story compared to what comes after it

I loveeee v force sm and it’s an acquired taste for me (I like it way better than grev tbh)..a lot of people seem to hate it, especially Tyson BUT his attitude his sometimes understandable considering the fact that he’s only a 14 year old boy who’s put on a pedestal and is constantly surrounded by enemies. Tyson isn’t exactly emotionally stable like the rest considering his separation anxieties and insecurities. He’s a growing boy Ian’s is considerably more tense in this season. Yeah he crossed the line a few times but he definitely grows a lot in the second arc and is extremely forgiving too. Plus tbh his ‘ego’ only remains in the first few episodes and is diminished later on. He never brought up his title again (unlike in g rev).
    Major v force apologist here!!

V-force and I always had a weird relationship tho.
While I liked it over all, and also liked some of the things they did later on. I can't deny that I got bumped out by a lot of things equally.
I think one of the best things it included was in fact Hilary. While I absolutely HATED how she was used in the early stages of the season, basically just to be Tysons punching bag, like he really was downright nasty towards her on some points in the show (referring on the mentioned Training Schedule she made.) But I like how she became an actual supporter of the gang and befriended the boys.
I also love that they did not fell into the typical girl gets added to the show and falls in love with the MC yada yada. I mean sure, she had a few moments were there could be something, but well, you can get flustered by friends as well. I like how she and Tyson really just get their differences aside for the most part and that she essentially becomes the anchor who at least tries to keep the giant thing that is Tysons ego grounded, as well as her actually warming up to the concept of Beyblading as a whole, without getting into the sport herself. (which would still have been a cool idea ngl XD)
Tyson as a whole is really a piece of work in this season, I got annoyed by him so much, which is a stark contrast to how I felt towards him in Season 1. (His development into G-Revolution is worth in my opinion.)
As for the rest, they pretty much stayed as they were with their own growth, which I think is also okay.
And the "Villains/Rival's.....yeah, that is V-Forces weakest point I think, aside from I guess, Kane and Zeo for a bit, no one is really worth remembering.
All in all, I am looking forward to your opinion while rewatching V-force, I love these reviews of you a lot, cause I used to like Beyblade a lot as a child

The Beyblade V2 arc was very perplexing for me having watched Season 1 and Season 3.
The plot revolving around the four sacred bit beast was interesting, however the further plot involving the new characters such as Ozuma and the saint shields whom wanted to seal them along with all other bit beast, was a bit contradictory to the previous story arc introduced in season 1.
It got more outlandish since the mission of the saint shield was to seal all bit beast around the world even thought it was introduced in the first season that many bladers around the world owned a bit beast.
However, I though the final story arc revolving around Zeo was pretty good, especially with the reveal of him being an andriod. However, the season 2 world tournament arc felt rushed and very lackluster.

Won't lie that VForce was my introduction to Plastic Gen back in 8th grade. Metal Master was going to end if you need a time reference. I liked the beginning. Tyson acting all cocky being a champion, and immediately when he gets beat for the first time, immediately getting serious about training was cool. Admittedly it was off putting when Tyson was a dick to the new girl of the group, but honestly all the action made up for it. Trust me when I say the Cyber Bit Beast arc & when the series becomes monster of the week is when the show becomes exciting for me personally.
