I've got about 20 games and I don't know what to play 80% of the time but with 3,000+ games, I still wouldn't know.

sinephase yeah, that steam sale did a number huh?
I'm not ashamed to admit I bought $120 worth of misc crap.
like the dungeon siege series and the divinity series and to date fallout series. ._.
      plus telltale, and TES series.
if you buy the game you HAVE to have the entire series :,D

Yeah, 810 games on Steam currently, about 200 on Android, 50 on Wii U, and 15 on PS4. Still can't decide what to play 99% of the time.

Dude there's a difference between a hoarder and a collector. If these were all books, I bet no one would bat an eye on that. But this is practically a games archive. I highly admire your collection and I loved the boxes the CD came in because it gives more memories despite the amount of space it takes up. Your collection gives me fond memories of how I wondered those tall shelves of PC games in every store and I could spend all day looking the back of each box.

My wife's and mine is majority ps1 games around 2000 total now but just from watching your thrifts videos its awesome how you dont grab valuable doubles. Its people who do stuff like you are the ones making it that much easier for the community of collectors. Stay awesome bud

+Seymour penus My husband and I collect ps1 and ps2 games and it's all about the find. The collection grows much slower but it's so fantastic when you go on a road trip and stop by a thrift store or garage sale in the middle of nowhere and find the game you've been wanting to add to your collection. You befriend the guys at your local game store and they start keeping stuff set aside for you because they think you might like it. I wish you and your wife good luck on your collection!

I am having to thank you, you're fab, I'm so glad you're hugging the retro scene, what I mean by that is "gaming from your own past, but also from my own", how you knew my past is fantastic, you must have some sort of insight of history of computing or something, wow if only that existed!
I started out with the ZX Spectrum (Yep I'm in the UK), I saved up for weeks working during school nights for a Speccy, my mum went nuts when I bought it as she shouted "boys toys will not get a job", how I showed her, I'm a respected technician and just finishing a rather late Masters degree in Computer Science!
I love your videos, they always make me smile, Clint I thank you, thank you for being honest and thorough in your reviews, and above all, for saying ZED ECKs.
    HUGS,
    Clare.

And with your recent move to a bigger house it's great to see your fanbase has allowed you to keep growing and expanding.

I find it sad in a way that we're now growing a digital collection of games via Origin and Steam etc. Although this method does have it's pros and cons.
However, in my personal opinion, there is nothing that can compare to having the actual physical boxes. I love my shelves of video games and each time I look at them the memories come flooding back of when I first bought them.
You have not only an impressive collection, LGR, but a mind blowing collection of games that pretty much made my childhood!

LG, don't take this the wrong way but I'm glad you lost the job because it turns out you were the absolute perfect person for the job you currently have! As a console gamer in the 90's I was always so fascinated by the slew of PC games that existed when places like CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, and even Price Club (otherwise known now as Costco) reigned supreme with electronics and computer software in the US (well Costco still reigns IN GENERAL in the US). However I never had the brain, guts, and means to try and understand PC technology nor how to properly build a PC good enough to handle PC games.
And I felt so crappy for it because I knew I missed out on a huge world of gaming and culture. I always heard about games like Doom, Duke Nukem, and Quake with their various online mods you get for free to further enhance the gaming experience, and all these wonderful games that could never be properly ported to consoles. And when they get ported over, all the gaming journalist publications did was drive it in my young mind that any PC-to-console ports were always fundamentally crap before given a rating.
I always read up on PC games and salivated over the huge variety and library of PC games I would see on store shelves. But I just never really had any chance to play the games or share experiences with anyone, and therefore I feel like I missed out a lot in gaming. This includes a lot of the unknown software that got lost on the large picnic tables they used to be sold on at places like CompUSA. And I always wondered about those games with their large shiny boxes and packaging, being left to collect dust for a few weeks before the stores stopped carrying them and threw them out. When I was lucky I would just purchase unique looking games and just go through their artwork and manuals and unique packaging that was nonexistent in the majority of the console games I purchased back then. It was just a whole different world of gaming that I never was able to get into.
And then you came along. You shared not just a few PC titles with fans, but the whole collective experience of PC gaming (especially in the 90's era!) that I wanted so bad to be a part of. It was like a whole bunch of good friends that I've met that came along with open arms and let me in their houses and shared with me all this knowledge, culture, and fun in PC gaming I so badly wanted to be a part of. Only it's only one person, you. That's how knowledgeable, nice, and cool you are. And you present it in a digestable way to a strictly-console gamer, who always felt snubbed by other PC gamers for being too stupid or something to understand PC gaming. You shared it to all of us like any other great big console gaming RUclipsr, and you have a great, funny, witty personality to deliver the knowledge. It's like I've finally been allowed to see and understand what PC gaming was all about and a friend was showing me this without any reluctance to give up time to share with me all this cool stuff.
Your content makes me feel like a local friend who was lucky to meet you and be let into the realm of PC gaming. You have no idea how nice it is to meet someone like you who has love for all the packaging, quirks, nostalgia, history, and craziness each of these games has and be nice enough to share it all with people like myself. It makes me feel great and nostalgic to see even the oddware, productivity applications, OS boxes, utilities, etc... you have. All of it really. I loved seeing this stuff in-stores, regardless of whether I ever needed it or not and just seeing you post up videos on this stuff, whereas any other more shallow uploaders would've passed up on talking about this kind of software makes me thankful you're the guy sharing all things PC with us. Your passion is proven genuine when you don't care what online/RUclips channel trends are out there and you post videos covering stuff like Microsoft WindBlows haha.
There is literally no one else better for the job you currently have. You're an amazingly smart and funny guy with seemingly unlimited knowledge of PC games and culture and you're also awesome enough to share the knowledge in archives and in video/film media.
I'm grateful you're the guy to do all this, and it seems like you're the only one. But in a way it's fitting because no one seems worthy enough to dawn the task like you have, and if anyone did try they wouldn't have as much charisma, smarts, and passion for all this like you.
I'm glad you got canned from your last job because it seems like you found the perfect job for yourself. I'm grateful you're here, every time I get a new video from you I'm elated because of everything packed into each of your videos; the knowledge, the entertainment, the fun, the laughs, all of it. Thank you.

ThyChrysanthemum Wow, thank you very much for the kind words. I'm glad my videos have meant that to you :)

I don't know how you had time to work or play all of these games in your lifetime. I was a PC gamer (still am in moderation), but I stuck to mastering the few games I really liked. I never could have played 1/1000th of the games you own. This guy is right. You found the perfect job. Feel lucky.

Glad you are now thinking about that museum idea. Last time I asked you weren't so sure but I didn't blame you, it's a hard endeavor indeed. This has been one of my favorite video of yours.
I'm from Mexico, and here we never had the chance to get many 80's or even 90's games. Would you believe the first game that was distributed massively in my area was Half-Life? When was that? 1998? PC gaming was already a thing for almost two decades ate the time! And decent gaming computers where -still are- expensive for us so I never had the opportunity to play many games I heard about in the early days of the Internet. In a way my inner child has been playing them here, through your channel and it's been great because somehow I really like your sense of humor and of course narration style. I don't know why you don't have more subscribers. But I guess it can't hurt to know that some unknown people out there really appreciate what you do. Thanks a lot.
Here's for more years of LGR, Clint. Cheers pal.

Its one of the best hidden gems of that generation.

Thank you so much LGR, I have been hunting for a game I used to play when I was in high school, and I couldn't remember the name of the game til I saw it on your shelf :D you've made me so happy. In case your wondering it was Dark Reign.

wow, incredible collection. I would actually buy a tour ticket around your house! Seeing Zool sat there brought it all back, a game i'd completely forgotten about. And original boxes for DOTT, Monkey 2, Ripper, Blade runner and classic C&C games I never knew existed! My first computer was the CPC464 and you even had one of those crammed on a shelf. Fantastic journey, thanks for the up.

      @redey1290 8 лет назад +6

It's kinda a love hate relationship on those for me. I love the fact that they're big and usually have some damn nice cover art, but they require quite a bit of shelf space.

***** I guess really good games that are highly anticipated should come in big boxes as an option, i.e The Witcher 3, Dark Souls, Doom, etc. Though nowadays nobody even buys hard copies anymore.

I used to work at a computer software store called Babbage's back in 1995. Watching this video is like traveling though time. I really wish I could have continued PC gaming passed 1995, but my mom's 486 SX2/50 just couldn't handle games anymore. Computers were much more expensive back then so I went back to consoles and got a Playstation. I returned to PC gaming about 4 years ago and I'm making up for lost time with old games on Steam and GOG.

Not really sure what to say other than wow! Your passion for this stuff is inspiring. I'm more of a video game collector myself, but over the past few years I've been feeling nostalgic for old pc stuff. I remember playing around with various pcs and getting them working when I was younger. The joy of discovering how things worked, and frankensteing together various parts to make something working. Your channel has reminded me of that. I'm looking to maybe get a couple of older pcs and start collecting.

I can say with absolutely no hesitation that this is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I'm 38 years old and I can remember walking through Best Buy, Circuit City, and CompUSA as a kid and marveling at all of the games and wishing I had them all. Into my 20s, I had a small collection (50-100 boxes), but those have been lost over the years. As I was watching this, so many memories came back. Thank you for this video!

I have this hobby of sorts where I like to go through video games, movies, or books and just organize them. I've gone over to friends houses and just spent hours organizing their collections. It's just so relaxing, probably cause I grew up in a legit hoarders house and being able to organize and sort through stuff that I just love is just satisfying. Your whole collection is just a wet dream to me. I'd spend days just sifting through it.

Should I feel guilty about hoping you DO open a gaming museum (well that's not the guilty part... brace for it) and hoping that donations would count a tax-deductible charitable contributions at some point in the future? I'm seeing very skinny children in late-night ads frowning very heavily at me thinking that.
