I keep wondering why the local military didn't finish off The Being like a decade before this happened. Not to say I don't love this game or that it isn't a masterpiece, just doesn't make sense is all.
The military most likely didn’t know considering information may not spread as fast as you think For instance it took us a whole year to fully understand what mad cow disease was and how it spread to humans so a forest growing dense most likely didn’t seem unnatural until it started to rapidly grow and the red virus was starting to spread and people noticed it wasn’t some normal virus but something worse so when they did send in the military by then it was too late for them and the being had broken into the minds of the soldiers and they had gotten attacked by savages therefor leading onto the story you play on from in darkwood Excuse the lack of punctuation
I dont think they even knew it existed, and just couldnt get deep enough into the woods to see it for themselves. I was also thinking, why not just napalm the woods? But I think itd simply grow back while burning. You had to take out the core fot it all to unravel.
The guy u get the flamethrower from probably is evidence that either there was some attempt to stop the forest from growing or a geniune effort to send a team to eliminate the being itself , though something happened that threw them off that they had to abandoned all known outsider posts, maybe its related to how the protaganist and his teammates were tied onto the trees (Minor spoilers, sorry)
In my run, I burned down the Talking Tree in the Village in the swamp, stayed a night in the hideout and went back at day to take the road home. There's another way of leaving the woods but both lead to the Epilogue.
The only way out of this madness is burning it all
The Hans ending
