- E427: ahh the Amiga 2000 rev4. i dont know why i dislike this board so. but this revision always seems to be damaged really bad. or maybe its the multiple times they have been death repairs on this chan. well this one dont let us down, so come along for the jokes, hilarity and cutscenes that make this interesting and entertaining.

The black stuff on traces is *NOT* from battery juice. It's very common on arcade boards too (I've repaired thousands of them). The black stuff is caused by moisture because it was stored in a damp place for many years. It just "looks" bad but it's fine.... as you discovered, no broken traces where the black stuff is....
Genuine question @g4z-kb7ct. At 5:45 Chris exposes the copper and the black mark appears to be in the copper. Surely if it was moisture it would be green(?)

Yes these Boards can be saved, After Hours of Work, yes Dr Chris's Expertise is on Show, Rescuing another Amiga for Resale by a USER ... I can only hope that these Video's Let others see how it's done to Fix their own Rev 4's, which were working in 1996 before it was sunk in a boat accident & Retrieved by a Mechanical Claw ..
famous lines " it worked the last time i used it" factually: Last used Dec1 1997, battery worked...

I know you have much lust for Rev4's but it's still impressive to watch. Thank you for what you do. :) Where do you find the layout files for Sprint? Are they publically available? I chuckled at the dog hair. I have a cat, he gets his pubes everywhere when I'm working on something under the mag lamp.

Is it possible that none of the ver 6.? boards did not suffer the Varta fate?
ALL Amigas with a battery suffer the Varta fate including B2000 rev 6 boards.

They all get slapped if the battery is left in. While the “GP” brand is less leaky? They all leak and kill them. Rev4 boards i hate as the ram is 32 chips vs 6 of the rev6 and the logic layout is more prone to damages. Also it seems like they find r4

@@ChrisEdwardsRestorationRev4 boards are not too bad. It's pretty easy to find bad RAMs if you know how

Chris, I need help with my 4.1 board. When I received it there was only a black screen. Since then I have replaced the processor socket, the Agnus socket, socketed and tested the third and fourth line of RAM ICs, socketed and tested U540 & U541, tested all the custom ICs, repaired 8 traces around the battery on either side of the board, traced every pin of Agnus, the processor and the ROM, watched all your videos...and I still only receive an insipid green screen. What pray tell should I do next?!

Hey Doc, instead of stuffing boards with free parts (out of your wallet), why not send them back with a list of "parts needed"?
Doing the fault finding for free is enough generosity.
well thats nice. but indeed counterproductive to what i do saving the machines. my own wallet yes but i have help from patreon members to save these things.

Personally, I'd be more than happy with a parts list. But I also have the experience and tools to do most of the repairs myself. Not everyone has that. For those people you are a fricken godsend.
