  • I found this vintage slide projector at a flea market. It was there, waiting for someone to restore it and bring it back to life.
    I had a hard time finding a vintage bulb that matched the original.
    I hope you enjoy this restoration.
    Thanks for watching ;-)

    Thank you for this - it brought back some memories! I worked in a photography shop in the 1960s and this Kodak projector was the oldest type left in stock. People wanted to buy the new Japanese types with mechanisms that held many slides in the feed tray. Eventually a gentlemen in his 80s took it because 'the more complicated it is, the more likely it will get jammed'. He wasn't wrong!
    I also learned from an expert in the industry that people in different European countries had varying tastes in what they called 'accurate' colour representation in processed slides. Italians preferred strong red tones, Germans liked deep greens, British and French preferred 'realistic' (less saturated) shades of green and brown. That's why when you went on holiday and bought local colour films, the pictures varied in tone in your home slide shows. Kodak Ektachrome was considered by professional photogrpahers to be the most realistic.

      Dear Sir, I am really happy to read your comment. Indeed, this gentleman was not wrong, the simplest is the most effective! The proof: 70 years later, this projector still works!
      About the slides, I didn't know that depending on the country where you live the color was different...
      The slide model I got with the projector is Kodak "Kodachrome", I think it is equivalent to the model you are telling me about.
      Thank you very much for your comment and all the information you provided me, and thank you also for watching my video.

    Very nice job. Those slides need a good cleaning. The dark patches could be mold. If so, I would separate them from the ones without mold. It can destroy your slides. Ask a photographic shop for the materials.

    I like to see items restored, as closely as possible, to their original state - paint included. in this case, though, the black paint is a great improvement. Nice work!

    I see a Lockheed "Connie" Constellation (3 vertical stabilizers) in pictures 3 and 4! I worked on the military version of that plane in the early 70s. Edit: The change to black was a good choice...

      Ah yes? You worked on it? Great!! 😀 That's why you recognized it so easily 😉👍🏼
      In the comments, a subscriber told me that the plane was at Marseille airport in the south of France. I live in the north, that's why I didn't recognize the place.
      Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment 👍🏼

    The flat piece of glass absorbs heat from the projector bulb. This helps keep the slide from melting. Some projectors included a fan to help cool the bulb and the glass.

    • @esordeeprestoration
      @esordeeprestoration  2 года назад

      Exactly, you're right 👍🏼
      The 2nd version of this projector (Senior nº2) had a fan because they realized that it was getting too hot 😬

    Belle restauration. Je suis toujours épaté par le manque de sécurité des anciens appareils. là, clairement, on le porte en mettant les doigts dessous et hop, 220V~ dans la main sans rien demander.....

      C'est vrai que ça fait peur la sécurité d'autrefois mais comme c'est parti en déco on ne risque pas grand chose 🙂👍🏼

    You can see why we now have electrical safety standards, that thing is lethal 😬😬

    • @esordeeprestoration
      @esordeeprestoration  2 года назад

      Exactly ! In France, in the 50's, the electrical voltage was 110v, today it is 230v. maybe in the past they thought 110v wouldn't hurt anyone but it's true that today it's very dangerous... 😬
      Fortunately, I wouldn't use it. It is placed on a furniture for decoration.
