  • Amazon's free home security feature through its smart speakers is no more. The feature, Alexa Guard, was designed to use the brand's smart speakers to "listen" for threats like breaking glass and smoke alarms, sending users alerts through the Alexa app.
While the free Alexa Guard has been shelved, Amazon still offers a paid version of this service called Alexa Emergency Assist which offers much of the same functions as Guard, just for a monthly fee of $5.99/month or $59.99/year.

Alexa Guard still works if you have a Ring Protect Pro plan! If I forgot to set my alarm I can bring up the Alexa app and simply say "Set guard to Away" and will set Ring to Armed mode. I can also use Alexa to set my alarm to Home mode by voice using a DIFFERENT 4 digit pin code I setup in the Alexa app which is NOT the same as the code I use for Ring. This feature is STILL working as of 4/14/2024
