  • In episode 14 we talk to Louis Eliot from 90s Indie darlings Rialto about all things Rialto & their triumphant live return in 2023!
Welcome to The Stupid And Contagious podcast, a podcast focused on bringing you interviews with the bands that defined a generation!
That generation grew up in the 90s with the Grebo bands (Senseless Things, PWEI, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Mega City Four, The Wonderstuff and many more) on the UK side of the pond and quickly joined by the grunge bands (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and many more) on the US side of the pond.
We are not limiting ourselves to these genres though, we will chart the guitar bands from all genres throughout the decade that was the 1990s.
If you are into 1990s guitar music or just a music lover in general then this is the podcast for you!

When We're Together, Catherine's Wheel, The Car That Took My Love Away. They have a lot of good songs. Unfortunately, fate was not on their side. Even so, they are still quite popular in some countries in Asia.

Another fine interview, well enjoyed it.....To be fair I didn't listen to Rialto at the time tho knew of them. Loved Kinky Machine, saw them supporting Ned's on the Are You Normal? tour!

This was an excellent interview lads. You smashed it. Pop and Plop should be played more often.

I don't know how or why but this band completely passed me by, I don't even remember Kinky Machine on The Word. (which I just went and watched) I guess they just didn't make any impact on me at the time for whatever reason. Sounded like a top guy though, I really enjoyed the interview.

Another great interview with possibly the coolest guy ever. I was never into rialto at all but I may give them a listen just because I liked him so much. Good work guys on an another great episode.
The late 80’s were a desert of pop music, but that did drive the massive creativity in dance and guitar music that is the defining characteristic of the brilliance of the early nineties.

Loved this podcast, such a great survivor story about an act that seems to have always stayed true to themselves. Like Matt I saw kinky machine support Neds and it's always stayed with me. It's been great revisiting the Rialto album and exciting to know we could be hearing more.. cheers as always for a great hour plus of entertainment

Great interview! I knew Louis in the 80s. His first incarnation was called Pale to Blue and I was a fan! They used to rehearse in the basement kitchen of his family house in Ladbroke Grove. You could tell he was talented even that early. His melodies and lyrics were astonishingly mature for his age. The NIN nails link is his cousin Atticus Ross (NIN producer). The three of us used to pub around west London back in the day.

Atticus Ross makes more sense! So you guys used to hang out, that's awesome! Both super talented musicians, loved the interview with Louis, what a lovely guy, are you still in touch?

@@stupidandcontagiouspodcast yes we got along well. Same sense of humour. Unfortunately we didn't keep in contact. He went to art college, I went to art college! but I started a 9-5 existence after a short musical career. It's funny, one day I was working in the studio (I was a graphic designer) and we used to have Radio London on and Kinky Machine were being interviewed by Robert Elms, and I thought, hang in, I know that voice...

Loved Untouchable and Monday Morning 5.19 back in the day, and still do. They remind me of trying to get over a break up at uni and not handling it particularly well 🥹
