- Viola Wills (December 30, 1939-May 6, 2009 (R.I.P.)) was an American pop singer, best known for the 1979 hit, "Gonna Get Along Without You Now". Another huge hit was the Gordon Lightfoot cover: "If You Could Read My Mind" (1980). Several remixes of "If you could read my mind" have been made. I thought I should come up with one too. Longer than the original 12", shorter and a bit different than the extended Disconet mix.

I've just discovered Viola. Amazing singer! amazing track!, reminds me of late 1970's early 1980's , captures the vibe of that time perfectly, Sad to hear she is no longer with us.

She was really great! With Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor they were the absolute Queens of Disco. Now only Gloria " survived" Viola and Donna are no more, but they live in our memories and in our hearts. Thank you Viola for your wonderful Music, we miss you!

Of course, Gordon Lightfoot's version came 10 years BEFORE Ms Wills. forgive, just making a statement of truth and not having a go at Viola Wills - I have high regard for both of them.

Heaven did not close in 1980 , I moved to London when I was 22 and it was still open then !
