- KERLI + Shadow Works | Documentary | PART I
Kerli’s latest album Shadow Works speaks to our darker side.
It is closely related to her personal experiences of returning back to the rural life in the nature of her home country, Estonia, and being able to fully know and heal herself through years of solitude in the nordic wild.
The documentary raises themes as sovereignty, nature, ancient Estonian magic, DIY lifestyle, the creative process, and most importantly, discovering oneself in the full spectrum of life and making peace with the darkness.
A more intimate look into Kerli’s world allows us a rare view into her creative process in the woods of Estonia and hear stories of years spent in the fast-paced entertainment industry of Los Angeles.

She's right... She makes magic...
The music and art she creates is very magical indeed. One of the most inspiring artists today IMO.
Thank you for taking us along this journey, it's been truly an experience to work with you!
You too guys!
Can't wait for part 2! Your art and philosophy is so inspiring. Thank you! ♡
I love SOOOOOOO much your evolution in those almost 20 years.
Breathtakingly beautiful :)
My grandmother fled Estonia during the war. I'm born and raised in Canada but wanted to experience Estonia. I lived in Estonia for 1 year in 2017. It was an amazing experience. Estonia will always be my 2nd home😍
Que lindooooo
i'm just here instantly :)
This why I fucks with you Kerli! Always real
we need the spanish subt.
This is a really important message for a lot of people in our world today.
True....Some of us just can't find our eden or reach it though. But I appreciate seeing this. Kind of a...Live vicariously for what is otherwise intangible.
Everything about her is beautiful , breath taking. And easily envied. I just watch from a dreamscape though. *nods*
(Many will take this wrong, I'm not actually being pessemistic etc. I've come to terms that a lot of things I will only ever experience through videos, stories, and music.)

@@tabithamartin9159 I'm sorry but, what?
For some of us its about decolonizing and really getting back to our indigenous roots.
The fact that she can make her own costumes, sets, music videos, and connect with her self in nature shows that she's not just a creator, but a true musical artist and talent. What a queen! Keep on doing what you do! You inspire me and others everywhere! Thank you for creativity and sharing it with us!
she really is a multifaceted artist. I've been listening to her since I was a kid. I used to be scared of being myself because I never had many friends and I didn't want to lose them, but it turned out when I started dressing the way I like and acting the way I like, I actually made more friends because what I really needed was the confidence boost to be myself, and I contribute that boost to Kerli. my friends still bust my balls sometimes just to test me, but I've kept all my friends and made more. we've never been closer.
Her entire persona is a copy of Bjork and Lady Gaga.
@@clowntingz313 I don't know how anyone could come to that conclusion unless they've never seen her or even heard of her.

Shadow works is nothing less than a masterpiece. A labor of love. A true connection to oneself. Thank you for tuning us in.
gahhh I love Shadow Works. It came out shortly after a horrid break up and it was blistering to listen to then but now I look back and its like what was I thinking in that whole situation. I truly believe grief is part of the healing process and with time things did get easier.
I understand....i was going through alot with an ex friend from 2017-19 and her music kept me grounded
What are shadow works? I wanna learn about that.
Shadow Works got me through a very difficult breakup too. So many of the songs resonated with what I was feeling and thinking.

A trip to Estonia has been on my plans ever since I started listening to your music back in 2010 and learning about you and your country.
Imagine seeing Kerli play live in her motherland, it would be a dream 👩🏻🦳✨
@@discobizcut Yes, she is in her fully glory ever since she went to the woods!
Same!!
@@discobizcut She did live when she tried to go to eurovision in 2017
@@discobizcut not so magical, actually. Estonians will just get drunk...lol no, really! Its pretty cold and emotionally disconnected people .
There was a good Estonian movie on Netflix , called Sügisball or Autum ball..very true to atmosphere of that time in Estonia. I was born there and grew up there. I ran away from that disconnection ...
This is absolutely beautiful! I'm so excited for what's next.
This is so beautiful. Can’t wait to experience the full documentary.
Been having the realization more and more lately that this world is a playground. Magical 🧡
Shadow Works is such an incredible album and Kerli herself, such an inspiration. Looking forward to the other parts of this documentary!
You are really fortunate to have learned what you know so early in life.
The Goddess called you back to give us guidance and help us find the way back to the old ways!

Kerli I know this is crazy to even ask cause I doubt you would respond or see this. But your music saved my life in so many instances. And I really connect with so many of your songs.
I was wondering if I find myself making my way to Estonia sometime this year if your in Estonia would you be willing to meet me and just sing with me? No cameras no recordings nothing like that just little duet and maybe you can Give me some spiritual advice and maybe help me by giving me some ideas about Estonia and things I could do to feel happy and calm again because I have no problems in life really my life on paper seems amazing but for some reason I can't shake this feeling of lonelyness or sadness and I know you Struggled with something like this before. Or maybe you'd be willing to do a zoom or something with me sometime just to talk.
Happy 2021 anyways and hope to hear some.new things from you again soon.
This was absolutely magical, thank you for your contribution for a better world
Kerli please finish the "waking up the sun" song... 🥺

" a neta das bruxas vocês não queimaram..."
My stress at work has skyrocketed and I'm looking for a way out. Not easy at the current situation, but I can no longer take it. It's abnormal and inhumane, so I agree - stress cannot be a "normal" lifestyle. People waste their time and energy on meaningless things, we lose our faces, we lose our souls, we are blindfolded. That is why we need people like you, that is why we need you Kerli - to gently show us that our world can have different colours, that our mind and soul can and must be nurtured. Pardon my language, but I cannot wait to see you as a badass "vanamutt" - I can only imagine how rad you'd be with your drum and your chants, a wise old woman who tells tales about life and what not to younger generationd. You are badass now too, but keep it going! There aren't many shamans and healers among us anymore like Kaika laine, Vigala Sass and Vormsi Enn. They too had their own, a different kind of take on life. People need people like that.
Thank you for this heartfelt message! Much love to you and yours!
Thank you for sharing with us. Truly inspirational ✨💕
I really appreciate these behind the scenes videos. I found you several years ago when you started posting videos from back home, as a way to connect to Estonia. What you have been creating since then has been so inspiring. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey.

The topic you talk about are really vital. Our roots are the most powerful and pure thing to simply unleash what we want to create or say. I've moved back to my Sardinia after a long time, after I thought for years, that I had nothing to do with it all. I was wrong. I am a writer because I came back here. You're still a traveller but you certainly know where you belong. Thank you Kerli. 🌙
Você é tão fascinante, a sua música é fascinante. Me sinto feliz em te acompanhar desde 2008 e ver seu crescimento. Esse documentário só mostra o quanto você ama o que faz e esse é um dos motivos por gostar tanto do seu trabalho. Olhei e gritei: ARTISTA!! 🇧🇷

Lol ofcourse you dont have stress when you are rich and can afford to just go live in peace for half a year
I understand abundance is a triggering topic due to our world wide poverty programming but as with anything else, I believe this is also where mind comes first. At least in life situations where we do have the power to change our circumstance.
I will said that im a magician 🖤

Hi
UK VS USA.
Legends in Portuguese please 😸
Kerli, you have been my inspiration ever since I was a child and your music has always resonated with me. This documentary just further proves to me why you're one of my biggest role models when it comes to experiencing life in the rawest form. I cannot wait for the other parts 💗
👍👍👍👍👍👍
wheres kerli?
This is the first time I've ever heard of anybody not of Indian descent with the name Kerli. I find it quite cool that a name means something so different though it is spelled and pronounced the exact same.
Kerli is the name of my late father (1970-2021) who died a couple months ago of covid-19 and cancer, it means "Golden Necklace."
Anyway this is a great documentary and I hope you are doing happily and healthy. Thanks to my English friends for showing me your music and introducing me to you.
As for me, in relation to a couple of the thigns you mention, I was born in Singapore, but moved to the UK in 2010 at the age of 17 right before I turned 18. I don't feel any love or pride in the fact that I am Singaporean. I've always felt that the laws back in Singapore are stupid and that Singaporeans have enver rubbed me the right way even though I am one myself. I've always identified with India even though I've never been there nor has my father. My mum is Malaysian but was bor nin Singapore like me, and I have a little sister named Karen Singh.
I wish I could feel the desire to reconnect with Singapore like you do Estonia, but I'm somewhat ashamed of my Singaporean-ness, and I know it's wrong but I hate being Singaporean. I prefer to identify as British.
As for nature, I don't know nature. I was born on an island that is a huge city, and now I live in Southampton and before that I studied in Australia, but always in the city.
I'm actually scared of nature and the wilderness, so there isn't no "natural" side to Aden Singh.
However I'm also struggling with who I am at times because I want to be proud of where I come from and I want to embrace my home like you learned to do. However it's hard for me because I've always hated Singapore despite it being where I spent the first 16 years before I moved to Australia then the UK.
Anyway I hope you're doing well.
Love, Aden.
Hi Aden! Such a cool story with my name! Does it mean "golden necklace" in hindi? Or which language?:) Much love to you...I don't know if there's ever a time where we have fully "found" ourselves and stop searching. From my experience, every time if "found myself", I change...I guess it's all just about the journey and finding as much fulfillment in that as possible
@@KERLImusic You are exactly right, it is Hindi, though the Singh side of my paternal family is also Panjabi Sikh, though my father converted to Hinduism then atheism.
Yes it is a struggle to figure out who we are and feel proud of it, especially when I've grown up all my life hating the place where I originate.
That is why I heavily look up to people like you who seam to have found your way.
My father (the one who shared your name) also struggled to find himself, and he may never have truly found himself. Like me he has always hated Singapore and its society and like me, as soon as he moved to the UK with us in 2010 he became much happier being called British despite spending 40 of his 51 years in Singapore.
I now completely embrace British society and customs and see myself as a complete Brit. Maybe some day I will be proud of being born and raised in Singapore, but I don't know how I'll ever reach that point given both mine and my dear late father's views on Singaporean society and the absolutely mental laws that govern it.
Anyway, loads of love from here in Hampshire, and I hope you come to the UK soon.
I’ve been waiting for this one
🇧🇷🇧🇷
Kerli eu te amooo 💚💚💚
The part about not needing to be stressed and the world is just a playground I have felt that for about a year now and thank you for putting this out!!! I love you Kerli!!!
