Congratulations, Evenepoel! Not only did he stop Gana's Giro TT winning streak on a course that Gana should have won on, he took a huge bite out of the competition during this one. We will see how he does during the third week. Go Remco!
@@allymack9246 he is just lucky with his genes lol, in the past he played football his coaches said that at like the age of 15 he outclaced even the pro players based on stamina

That was the worst destruction of a Grand Tour in a prologue, ever. Never has one rider put more than half a minute on the entire GC list in a short-medium, flat TT like this. None of them were dealing with race fatigue beforehand, keep that in mind. What Remco just did has never happened in modern cycling.
Congrats to Remco E. We all know and I'd hate to say this but you'd be a fool to even think that the Giro or in fact any Grand Tour is won on the first day.
I am new to the sport. What are the differences between the tour of france and the other two big tours, Spain and Italy, that would cause remco to not ride France but ride Italy and Spain? If this guy is the real deal, why not race the best in France, he is old enough i think.
All of Italia pushing for Ganna couldn’t get back those 22 seconds! Just wow! 😮 Glad to see McNulty going fast. So happy to be watching the 2023 Giro! 🇮🇹
All horses went lose! Amazing to watch! Remco 58 km/h on 1st part of the stage was unbelievable. By the way - that's how bicycle lanes should be made! I'm from Poland and it's a nightmare here. Complete waste of money!
I am just the opposite. Look at the tour of Catalonia without a TT. It was a joke of a race. TT separates the riders with class from the “wheel suckers”
Would love to have TT inGrand Tours where they are forced to ride with their usual normal bike, I don't get it why they don't do that. It would be the real strongest cyclist comming upfront, do a 50+km TT on your bike you rode the day before on a hilly stage, wouldn't that be great ? Wouldn't it be great to see Thomas De Gendt and such riders be the favorites ? Why that TT bike only ? Its riding against the clock, riding BIKES (its cycling) against the clock, not with machines/specialistst against the clock. I really don't understand why they don't consider it. All stages its about tactics+ legs, normal bike individual ride would be the greatest thing in a grand tour, not TT bike, doesn't suit so much riders that have good legs and can't show it in that discipline, its a different discipline where alot are descrimited to be able to show their form and power.
@@christiantermont4281 Tactics in TT: Go fast. Tactics in other stages: fluid, changes all the time depending on what develops in the race. As a result TT are boring, 2 or 3 hours of watching riders back ends. Other stages, even so called snooze fest stages, offer more exciting viewing. Still we can agree to disagree. I know a lot of people who love the TTs, just not me. Thanks for your comment.
Why would they do eliminate TT from the tours and mess with a good thing? The Giro has 3 TT for 70 KM and 18 other days with many of them without much happening. They might as well eliminate 75 percent of the sprinters’ days. TT separates the men from the boys. It’s part of a balanced tour that already favors massively mountain goats who sit in the wheel of better riders.

Hi Eurosport. Not displaying Vlasovs country of origin in your graphics does nothing for the people of Ukraine. It does nothing of the people of the Donbass. It is moronic virtue signalling.
Man Roglic just doesn"t seem to have it anymore. He s all oveer his bike, spinning his legs in a small gear, he doesn't have the power anymore. On day 1 he looks like his 2020 TdF Stage 20 TT...
Did you miss his time and finishing rank? He'd be right where he needs to be on any other year. The only people who beat him were TT specialists, Remco, and Kung. There's nothing Kung and Rog can do about Remco.
@@asnark7115 His time is still decent, don't get me wrong. It's just the way he's riding here, not dialed in and inefficient. The finale favored him big time with his excellent 1 min power and short recovery time. He should have ranked better than this imo, especially on fresh legs on day 1. Color me not impressed.
Looks to me like the next scandal if about to happen. I say freeze those test samples and test him twice a day. Let's see what will show up. The chances of him achieving that clean, solely based on genetics and training....I'd say pretty slim.
You know you are reality Amazing when the only excuse people can find is that it's not possible.... @@raijingodsasuke7985 well said - obviously podgecar is super talented like Remco but Remco doing something dodgy lol some people cannot face the fact that Remco is super talented too
@@raijingodsasuke7985 yes, I do think the same about him. It's unreasonable to think that someone who is best at week long races with lots of elevation is also the best at one day racing that is relatively flat. It would reasonable to think that the world elite is within 1-2% and based on the requirements of the particular race (flat -> absolute power, lots of elevation gain -> power per weight) one or the other athlete would come out as a winner. For Pogacar to win both he'd have to be significantly better than the rest of the elite. In Germany you get tested relatively frequently and the reaction to a positive doping test ist national shaming. Lots and lots of riders from Germany turn pro but we haven't seen anybody competing for GC in decades. Yet two people from Slovenia, a country with a population of 2 million people, has two riders at the very top. Just looking at it from a mathematical point of view it's highly unlikely. The thing I want to say lastly: It's not that I don't want to see Pogacar or Evenepoel to win, it's the the suffering of the clean athletes that makes me angry. If you are in this sport clean, you have to train so hard, be so professional, but without drugs your regeneration just can't keep up with the stress you put yourself through. If you try to train like someone who's using for example EPO your body will break down, because fatigue and injuries just drain you. And yet despite everything you do you won't reach the top. And for those athletes that work beyond their breaking point, but never get to stand on top of the podium that's why dopers need to be called out. Pushing (close to) 8w/kg for 20min simply isn't something I can believe is possible. I believe somebody else should be standing on the top of the podium.
Journalists always exagerating. Evenepoel did a great job, but not an unbeleivable performance for him. 22'' on Ganna, 29 '' on Almeida, 40'' on Geoghegan Hart, this is more or less what I was expecting.
