Holy smokes! Hahaha... smokes. But, seriously... Thank you for sharing with us your thoughts on the subject of gunpowder vs nitro. I have yet to wander down the black powder trail (it may be inevitable) because I have my hands full with most things smokeless! I have spent my time mostly on the easier (for me) straight wall fare: the .41 Rem Mag, then "heavy" .44 Special, some .357 but the most fun is building and shooting smokeless .45-70 loads to use in my 18.5" Marlin 1895GS. I'm not a great distance shooter as you and Sam are but just the same I find all of your work and videos very interesting and awe inspiring. You are a real asset to our community. Here's to calm winds and beautiful mornings and evenings for you.

Shiloh Sharps is building a 45-70 for my daughter. (Dad gets to pay the bill. SO she added every bell and whistle). I have a Henry 45-70. But when we get the Sharps rifle I would like to load some black powder for fun. I have shot some black powder muzzle loaders. I just hate cleaning them. But we Must try BP in a Sharps.

G'day. I sent the link to a relative at ADI. He said the video was verry interesting and was able to confirm waht you talked about concirning the smokless powder. He is in the lab doing QC checks mostly. He said he has had verry little to do with Black Powder so we'll have to take your word on that.

Question; does the heat generated by rapidly building pressures cause the powder to burn much more rapidly / vigorously?? As a diesel engine heats up air in the cylinders via heat of compression.... Boyles law of gasses??
