Berrick Dondarion's purpose was to save Arya from dying. That's why the Lord of light brought him back several times. And Melissandre's role (apart from lighting shit on fire) was to remind Arya of who she was supposed to kill.

I've never laughed so hard during The Long Night, ever! Between Rainey taking off before the action even started and you with a sword in one hand and a drink in the other!!! You are THE most entertaining reactor I've watched and I've watched quite a few. I was seriously worried there when you were sweating and clutching your chest! But when you jumped up on the couch as Arya appeared over the Night King's shoulder...that was the best! Thank you so much for making this series so much fun to watch.

There’s so much to say in this episode. Theon doing what he did distracted the Night King just long enough, and you can see one of the other Whites hair moving in slow motion seeing her sneak up, but it was too late. Theon’s part was all of that. I’m not a Theon fan, by any means, but it’s just his part he finally played, like everyone did in this episode. It all came together.
The moment Jorah heard Drogon and Rhaegal screaming - he KNEW his Queen needed help 💔💔💔

Thing is they hinted at it being Arya the entire time since season 1, and her journey prepared her for it as well. It makes since to me, and she is stealthy from her training. Jon being the Prince that was promised was about uniting the kingdoms for this war. Not kill the Knight King.

I loved this episode live. The only issue for me wasn't Arya's trampoline stunt, but the fact setting the enemy on fire with the dragons wasn't the very first move. No, lets send the dothraki blindly right into them. Just theatrics. Other than that, I was on board!

I suspect that most of the undead giants, and big zombie animals like horses, bears and mammoths and whatever were the unseen forces in the undead vanguard that we just got a hint of when the Dothraki attacked. The Dothraki charge might not have been quite as doomed and hapless as it looked as they might have successfully removed some behemoths from the board. Sadly, we saw very, very little of their battle.

Lmao the season 8 bandwagon haters are rolling in their graves at your excitement over how this turned out. Glad you enjoyed it mate the more I watch the end of this show the better it gets.
The show gave a fine ending considering the book material ran out long ago. I suspect the books when completed will still reveal more about the Others and the Starks and that there will be more to the Long Night resolution than meets the eye so far but D&D with Sapochnik’s genius did a beautiful job with what they had.

Jorah dying always hits hard. Daenerys' first and most loyal supporter. Pretty famously in the original script Jorah just defends Daenerys while she kind of cowers and Emilia Clarke said Daenerys would never just stand there. So in the actual episode she picks up a sword and they fight together. Brilliant.
This episode has some great parts, but strategically it's a huge mess
They call this episode The Long Night…They should have called it The Neck Meat. We had Brother Dragons Ripping all up on each others neck neck bone neck meat, We had Arya tip toeing her ninja butt through the library till bumping in to some zombies neck meat …with the tip of her knife, and The Night King …catching crouching tiger flying Arya in mid flight by her neck meat! 🫣…Thinking he was all Bruce Lee and a big ol’bag of barbecue flavored chips!😒 …that’s until Arya busted out her patented move she learned at The Jaqen H'ghar School of No One….can see you…sneaking up on dem! As Arya plunged her dagger into King Crack Head she lets out a primal scream 🗣️“Valar Morghulis MotherFu……!” When Jacqen got the news of what his little pupil had accomplished....He just smiled and gave an approving nod.

Melissandre's job was to tell Arya her purpose. Remember, "Brown eyes, green eyes and BLUE eyes." Then Arya ran straight to the Godswood, where Bran Was. She isn't the Princess who was Promised. She the QUEEN that was promised!

Great episode. But this episode destroyed a plot they were building from the very first day, that Jon Snow will kill the Night King. In the books, I am pretty sure R R Martin is going to give Jon Snow this opportunity to kill the Night King. The plot became sure in the Hardhome episode.
The creators of this show said that Jon Snow was supposed to kill Night King, but they thought that doing something Unique would be great. So they gave the role to Arya
I generally agree, I also think there’s more to the night king/others/bran/3ER/Jon than what we were given in the show that they didn’t get into for some reason. I even wonder if there was a gentleman’s agreement to allow GRRM a couple of secrets to reveal in his books considering how many were revealed in the show. In my opinion there is a reason that the night king’s sigil that he wears on his throat is of a raven skull with a large tower where it’s third eye would be. That’s never explained and implies a lot. Also the overhead view of the undead crossing the wall at the end of season 7, the army is marching in the shape of the stark direwolf sigil. It’s only on the screen for a couple of seconds but when you see it you’ll notice that there’s zero chance that’s an accident, it’s the exact same shape with even the scaly fur features on the neck. To me all visual hints that D&D acknowledge there is more to tell, that they know what it is but that they are for some reason not exploring that. I think it’s gonna be a mindblower on the R+L=J and Hodor level but focusing on Bran/Jon/TNK.
