Filipinos have proven ourselves to be formidable warriors, particularly in asymmetrical warfare. During World War II, the United States may have experienced one of its most significant military setbacks with the Surrender of Bataan. However, we waged a relentless guerilla war against the Japanese, disrupting their plans and providing the United States with the opportunity to regroup in Australia.
In the peaceful People's Power Revolution, unarmed Filipinos reclaimed our democracy. In the ongoing dispute over the West Philippine Sea, China may resort to tactics such as water cannon attacks on Philippine boats, but the loss of moral high ground could damage China's reputation. This could lead to allies and friendly nations rallying to support the Philippines.
Today, what was once known as the South China Sea is now referred to as the West Philippine Sea by numerous countries. We may seem small compared to our adversaries, but we fight with the tenacity of mosquitos. In the long run, the Philippines always emerges victorious, much like our prowess in the sport of basketball. After all our national anthem ends with: Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapi, ang mamatay ng dahil sa yo.

In the process, we have also embraced many Asian values, such as civic duty, nationalism, and respect for elders. Global celebrities have learned that Filipinos greatly appreciate praise. However, negative comments can lead to backlash.
RUclips bloggers and tourists have discovered that a simple smile and respectful demeanor can open doors in the Philippines. Even in the most densely populated and impoverished areas, they can navigate safely and are often welcomed into homes. This is a testament to the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people. In contrast, similar areas in other countries might have succumbed to gang control and lawlessness. The resilience and unity of the Filipino community play a significant role in maintaining peace and order.
Our opposition to oppression, as exemplified by the current situation in the West Philippine Sea, is deeply ingrained in our hearts. Our National Anthem declares that in the face of oppressors, our duty is to fight and, if necessary, to give our lives. This is a testament to the resilience and courage of the Filipino people.

I served with Philippine marines on Rotation in country, in the 90s. These men are tireless and dedicated soldiers. We learned invaluable jungle survival training by our hosts. I thought I was going to die from heat exhaust ion and mosquitoe bites. Our unit was finished at the end of the day while our counterparts were enjoying cold drinks and laughing at us! I'd fight along side these warriors any place, anytime. I know many Phil-Am folks from back in the day and they would gladly give the shirt off there back if u needed it. We Americans owe the people of the Philippines any assistance we can give. That said, prepare for war but hope for peace.
