2011 SG, stock seat, 5'9" tall. Tried, wind-splitter 6.5 Buffeting, Klockwerks 8.5 dark smoke and it blocked visual. Klockwerks 6.5" better than wind-splitter but still getting some buffeting. Finally tried Freedom windshield 8" clear, and that works perfectly. Being 61 yo, and doing long rides, It definitely helps to have the proper shield. I would also like to say that even though I didn't use the Klockwerks, their customer service was outstanding.

*I love Freedom Shields.* I am 6' and the 8" ( dark ) screen is the perfect height for me on the *2021 FLHxS* with a *_Saddlemen_* extended reach solo seat and 12" Mayhem bars, like yours. _My dealership told me to NOT remove the outer two screws for windscreen replacement because they can require 4 hands to get back in, as mine did!_

I read that much of the airflow that causes buffeting comes from below. In addition to a lower fairing, which I love, I added a triple tree wind deflector. It fits between the forks up near the triple tree. When I purchased my 2012 FLHTCU, the deflector was about $25. It does help some. I went through the same trial and error process to find that pocket of calm air behind the batwing. I'm 5' 10" and use the lower fairing, batwing deflectors, triple tree deflector, and 8" Long Ride Ultra shield to finally achieve that sweet spot. I have no more buffeting with a half helmet and minimal buffeting with a full-face helmet. I also tried the fork fang type of deflectors and they made a big difference in reducing the buffeting but I couldn't get past the way they looked on the bike and eventually removed them. Best of luck to you in getting it dialed in.

@@HOLYSHIFT Of all the things I tried, the fork deflectors probably made the biggest difference in reducing airflow into the cockpit. As a matter of fact, I removed them during the Summer months because they blocked too much air from reaching me. They do help in reducing buffeting though.

Texas: Sandy, good review and I can confirm my findings with each brand. 1yr. review. Clock Werks (12") HD FLHTCU 2019 MED Tint, FAILED. The thickness of the windshield was not enough to prevent bowing. I could actually watch the windshield at highway speeds bow inward, to the point it loosened the mounting screws. I sent it back with no replacement. I heard about Freedom Shileds and being a Mech. Engineer with 3D design background found that the research on the 12" MED tint Touring did provide the fix for bowing with the material being thicker. Also, for my wife and I the wider design does benefit with equalized pressure across the whole surface and diverts airflow much better. I then replaced the stock HD seat with Saddlemen Sofa extended and the added hieght in design returned the improded over-the-windshield visibilty. Remember, head & eyes. Head up and eyes looking as far down the road as appropriate for your conditions did exercise new habits I'm now comforatable with. Also, looking through Oakley lenes carrys any tint choice (light, MED, dark) up over the vision provided by the Freedom Shield. I did have more of concern with tint than height. Good choice! Good company! Great review! Confirmed and supported with my review detailed above. Continued Success!

I have a Road King and a windshield is basically the gearing of the motorcycle. The Klock Werks windshield is very flat and rigid from factory and will need to bended as you’re installing the hardware. This creates stress on the windshield. Mine lasted for at least two years before it cracked on the lower left end on its own, along with stress marks on some edges of the corners. It did do a good job in reflecting the air however but it’s too wide on the sides and it will interfere with longer handlebars. Don’t waste your money and time. Go with Freedom Shields instead. They make the best one.

To save yourself a headache you can actually measure what height you need. Put a level at the center of the space between your nose and top lip. Make sure the bubble is perfectly centered and then measure the height from either the top of the fairing to the level of center of the front screw to the level. Depending on what brand of windshield you are buying.

Fellas your height has very little to do with the height of the wind screen. Some people have long legs and a short torso, some have a long torso and short legs and then there’s everything in between. Pretty much every windshield manufacturer has a video on how to properly measure for the right size for you. It’ll save a lot of problems and give you apples to apples comparisons
