    Mind if I ask a couple questions?
    What ‘base’ coat should I be using? Can I use a spray tin from Halfords that’s the same colour as the car, or do you use a generic colour?
    How long between applying the paint and then buffing it?

    Hi, thank You for the video. I’ve tried Your method. I’ve used the spray paint from can with exact number of color to match with my car’s color.
    But I didnt spray it directly on a car, I made few sprays to a cup and then I applied to a car with my finger - as was shown in video.
    The paint seemed a bit transparent and too much liquid, so I aplied 2 layers and then waited about ten minutes and then it was literaly IMPOSSIBLE to get the coulour out with the rotary pad 🙈
    So how long time is best to wait? 3, 5 minutes? Is the colour cured, when you begin to polish it, or is it still sticky to touch ? Thank You!

      Foam pads can be maintained dragging a screwdriver across a DRY pad at high speed. This will remove the abrasives/foreign material in the pad. Careful to angle the bit so it’s not too aggressive OR pointing into the rotation. Haven’t tried on wool or terry cloth, but it works great on foam.

    Magic!. What about the solvent NOT being covered by clear? wouldn't the solvent (scratch) go matt and the surrounds remain glossy over time?

      It seems to hold up pretty good from my experience

    Bigger rock chips on a metallic car, will this work you think? I think the color difference might be just a little too big when theres no clear coat.
    But maybe if I mix clear coat, thinner and harender and rub it on and buff off. Have you tried this?

    Hi ty for the videos. What kind of pad and compound do you use.

    • @cvrpov
      @cvrpov  Год назад +1

      Farecla g360 and a 3m cutting pad. Any branded combo would be good

  • @ChewyGDRP
    @ChewyGDRP Год назад +11

    How long do you let the paint dry for? I'd imagine if its left too long it'll be almost impossible to get it off with just a polishing machine. So i'm guessing there's window of opportunity in terms of... when to buff?

      I've found good results after 10-20 minutes with some mild level scratches and hitting it with a heat gun for about 60 seconds

    • @CousinSqueeze
      @CousinSqueeze Год назад +3

      Deeper scratches I fill with paint in JUST the scratch first, then I glass off excess so it's flush with the original paint, then polish

      A couple of mins is usually suffice.

    • @cvrpov
      @cvrpov  2 года назад +1

      Thinning it down looses it's filling effectiveness I find

      works best on scratches that are just slightly too much to sand and polish

    • @cvrpov

      Multi stage paint is almost impossible to get right unless the basecoat is very close match to the overall colour. Ie not much pearl top coat

    Seems like the secret is that the paint is more viscous and able to fill and stay in scratches.
    Is it still not a good idea to sand the scratch first to remove the protruding rough edges?

    • @cvrpov
      @cvrpov  2 года назад +1

      Best not to sand the area 1st. The polishing tends to round the edges off
